I chose Amity Apartments after reading reviews here and I'm very glad I did. It's location is fantastic, literally just a laneway walk through to Chapel Street and a stone's throw from Sth Yarra Station. The reception staff were lovely. I stayed with relatives visiting from overseas. I was given a complimentary upgrade without asking for one.

The rooms were spotlessly clean with a stove, fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable. The air conditioner was a little noisy in my room, but not enough to complain about. The rooms aren't huge but absolutely fine. There is no view at all, just the next door buildings but that's to be expected in a built up area like South Yarra.

My only small complaint was the shower. The water pressure was not great and the environmentally friendly shower head meant the water stream was so thin it took twice as long to have a shower which probably defeats the environmental purpose!

Overall though we were very happy and I would definitely stay there again. The location is worth it.

Trying to find a decent hotel during Grand Final weekend seemed like a nightmare. After doing a search we decided to stay at one of the Quest properties. In then end we chose this one because it was a newer hotel and we got a $10 discount.

My husband and I arrived at the hotel after 1am. Our flight was delayed and we were exhausted. We called the after hours hotel security and shortly after the personnel arrived to let us in. She was so pleasant and made the check in process so effortless.

The hotel has 6 floors, and we were allocated a studio apartment on the 5th floor. When we arrived to our room, we were stunned at how big the room was. Usually studio apartments are quite small, but this one was quite big.

The room was quite clean. The room was fully equipped with a washing machine, dryer, and a fully stocked kitchen. The beds and pillows were very comfortable too, which was relief after our late arrival.

The bathroom was roomy too and the shower was a good size too. My only disappointment with the hotel was the noisy shower and the fact that it took a while for the water to get hot.

The hotel itself is located in a good position in South Yarra. The hotel is a few minutes walk from Toorak Road and the nearest tram stop. There is also a good cafe in the street called Two Birds One Stone which has great food.

Overall we liked this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for three nights in a one bedroom apartment - a mere $5 more per night than the studio so thought why not.

The hotel is within easy walking distance (provided there is no sudden downpour!) of the South Yarra train station and South Yarra Station Tram stop with frequent trains to the City Loop and Flinders Street Station. There's a Woolworths on the next street across, also within walking distance, as well as various restaurants so you won't really be wanting for much.

The room was comfortable with armchairs, full kitchen and bathroom with laundry. Kitchen had tea and coffee supplies as well as milk, the bathroom had cakes of soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion - no liquid hand soap which would have been nice. Hand and dishwasher dish soap were both provided, as well as one packet of laundry detergent.

The apartment had a split system air conditioner which did a good job of cooling down the room, as well as a TV with a DVD player (apparently there are DVDs available at reception).

Something to bear in mind is that reception here does run limited hours so if you are arriving late or wanting to check out super early you need to make arrangement prior to arrival\departure for this. There is also some construction nearby as well. It wasn't too bad but it did start early in the morning, around 7am I believe. It probably would have been quieter had I closed the bedroom door (I am lazy), and it wasn't too bad, but if you are a light sleeper it is something to bear in mind.

I was quite impressed with my stay and I would happily stay here again. The location and facilities were excellent and I have no real complaints about the place.

We’ve stayed in these apartments many times over the years and on this occasion were shocked to find them in such a poor state. The rooms need a good scrub top to bottom, cracked tiles replaced, filthy windows washed, curtains thoroughly cleaned and bathrooms given a much-needed make over. Clearly not a cent has been spent on the place in years. The only thing that made our stay pleasurable was the attentive nature of lovely Camilla on Reception and her sidekick Tony who couldn’t have been more helpful by way of giving first aid to many of the shortcomings. We rather fancy he does that for a living. As for day to day housekeeping, good luck if you can catch them! Lucky there were rubbish bins in the street close by. One favourable thing: Wifi was pretty good, probably because there were so few other folk staying while we were there. Presumably others had been forewarned!

I checked in around 5.30 PM on 20th October 2022 and have raised some big concerns about the apartment#602 . Note that we have a two year old traveling and some of the below are serious health concerns for her.

1. Kitchen taps broken
2. Bathroom doors not locked
3. Balcony door broken by last week visitors and not fixed
4. Dirty window panes which have not been cleaned in many months
5. Dirty fridge, there is a layer of dirt on the top of it which has not been cleaned in many months
6. Bed is making noises and mostly broken
7. Balcony is dirty -- there is layers of dirt and garbage thrown
8. Heater smells of burns and for a moment we thought the apartment was on fire
9. There was noone at checkin and the number given outside the door was unanswered
10. Carpets have holes and are unhygenic

To top this horrible experience, the management didn't even respond to a single request from us and the receptionist evaded all our enquiries.

If you charge competitive prices your service must be of a high standard. The Service at Amity is not.
I stayed last weekend - three of us in an apartment. They only gave us two towels and refused to give us an extra blanket (unless we paid extra) when we asked for one. When we tried to change hotels because this wasn't what we thought we'd booked they refused empathy, saying that they would charge us the full amount anyway.
Reasonable facilities, but poor service. There are plenty of competitors in the area, I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Dear K-review1, Thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to review our property. When I first arrived at the hotel, I had no problems with the room. It was clean, tidy and exactly what I had expected. However when I returned to my room late that night there was a very bad sewerage smell throughout the room, which appeared to be coming from the toilet. As it was after midnight there was no-one on the reception desk to complain to, so all I could do was open the window and hope the smell went away (which it didn't) . Because of the location close to the train station I couldn't sleep with the window open, so eventually I had to close it and hope that the smell would eventually ease. As a result I didn't have a great night in the room, either being kept awake by the noise, or the smell. The next morning when checking out, I made a complaint and although the girl was very apologetic, I didn't feel that she cared too much about my dissatisfaction with their hotel.

Dear Allie, Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I was disappointed to read that upon your return your room had a foul odour. While our reception desk is closed overnight our resident night manager is always contactable and could have been called from your room phone. We have since checked the room you stayed in and have not been able to replicate any sewage smells. Should you wish to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the property. Regards, Mathew Doyle Manager

A smile, a welcome, intelligent responses - a feature of my first contact with Amity, that was to be repeated by every front desk worker.
second impression - this place is 4 star, at a lower star price.
Big main room and huge verandah (2 bedroom executive) - we had 4 rooms and piled 15 blokes into one, to watch the australia/India semi final of the WCC over Moscow Mules (industrial mix) - no problem
South Yarra, if you are new to Melbourne, is a good place to start, with the wide variety of food, shops,etc-all doing their own, usually great, things- and you can start 150m from the front door
We'll be booking in again next year.

Reception staff are friendly and helpful particularly stephanie and the Irish girl. Accommodation good, generally clean but shower matt wasn't at all replaced with the fresh towels each day and shower gel wasn't restocked either.
Conveniently located near station and chapel street.
