It is a budget hotel but it has all the essentials. It is clean, has a comfortable and clean bed, the breakfast is cheap but filling and it is quiet despite being on a major Melbourne Streets with cars and trams.

The room is small and the toilet is tiny but as said before it is clean and comfortable. The TV is huge compared to the room.

The breakfast is toast, tea and coffee, cereal and pancakes for $12. The service was friendly and efficient. An all round good experience.

This hotel has a fantastic location at the heart of Melbourne. It is close to Flinder station and a short walk to Southern Cross station. Most iconic places, cafes as well as QVM and Chinatown are within a 1-2km away.
Staff are friendly and polite.
The rooms are clean and have the minimum necessary for a good short stay. I wouldn't recommend it for a long stay. Room service is below average and you need to ask for soap, clean towels and the breakfast is also too simple. Anyway, in my opinion you get a bit more than what you paid for basically because of the excellent location.

We spent 2 days in Melbourne with our two children, aged 10 and 8, as we were going to see Penn & Teller. 8 minute walk from the hotel to the venue, which was perfect.

Staff was friendly.

We had a super king size bed for me and husband and the boys shared a queen size bed. The bathroom was massive, as it was wheelchair accessible.
The beds are super comfy and the sheets were clean. The following morning we noticed the hot water wasn't running, so we contacted the manager, who kindly came into the room and checked the shower for us. Within minutes, he organised for us to have a room where we could shower and in the afternoon we would move to another family room.

Unfortunately the second room we slept in on the second night had a massive stain on the carpet, we had to sleep on a double bed (not super king size) and the shower curtain had mould.

I understand it is a budget hotel, and at the end of the day we were there to sleep, but things like these cannot get missed and although we had the issue with the hot water and we got transferred into another room it wasn't good enough.

I don't know where they got the "hotel has been refurbished" because that isn't true. Sorry Ibis, but we won't be staying there again.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. There is a small nondescriptive entrance at elizabeth street which leads to a long corridor to a lift that will bring you to the reception on the 1st floor. I felt very claustrophobic getting to my room on the 5 lth floor with small and tight corridor. The room has a small tinted window and a small aircon. The room is small with 2 small twin beds and is very basic and sparsely furnished. The toilet and walk in shower is tiny.. the bed and pillow offers no support and is small and placement of the reading light on the bed headboard is bad because everything is try to watch tv sitting on the bed, it will dig into the back of my neck.
Be prepared for very basic room if you chose to stay in this property.

Hi Philip, we're sorry for such an experience at the hotel. It is not the best entrance considering the challenges. The building is really old property and we try our best to be on point. I'll pass the comments to the management and we'll definitely act on it. We wish to welcome you back at the hotel and provide a much better experience. Best, Laksh, Front Desk

On arrival I was asked for my first name and photo ID which I provided. I then paid and was given a receipt. Noticing that the surname and address on the receipt wasn't me (despite the same first name) I pointed this out to the attendant. He then looked for an alternative room but notified me that the cost would be considerable more than originally quoted (and paid).

Visibly exhausted (due to a medical condition) and much to the distress of my daughter, I sat and tried to locate alternative accommodation within my budget. I also attempted to continue the accommodation request with Ibis Budget Melbourne CBD staff as I was not feeling at all well by this stage and did not feel up to more walking.

Despite having given my details mere moments earlier I was hounded again for my personal information to simply get an answer about what rooms they had available.

By this stage my daughter and I were quite distressed and disgusted by the behaviour of the staff (as was the lady who was served after me who made her thoughts regarding the customer service know) so I asked for a refund of the money and deposit already paid and left in search of alternative accommodation (which we found, cheaper and the most lovely, friendly, considerate and helpful staff).

I would not recommend this accommodation.

You get what you pay for, great location but room was claustrophobic, aircon worked on one part of room only. We sweltered all night. Didn’t have breakfast, not into continental breakfast. Very busy great with back packers. Wouldn’t stay again.

This place is a disgrace. Advertising 24hr service from a brochure in our room and restaurant but charged $3.00 per cup to be paid at reception. No Mini Bar also included on the same brochure. No plug for sink and carpets stained and dirty. They advertise as BUDGET but still average a negative from me. Needs a big improvement or change there and update the Pictures on the website. Not as advertised. Also charged a Extra $100.00 for nothing. BEWARE.

The issues here were basically endless. Stained linen, bugs in the bed, mould and literal excrement in the shower, used tissues left on the bed, stained furniture, stains all over the walls including near where your rests. To top it off the motel refused to help in anyway. I had to check out at 10:00pm at night and make my way home incurring significant expenses in doing so.

I had bugs all over me in the night, in my hair and throughout the room. I asked to be moved and was told they would have a look. I came back the next day, nothing had been done and it was awful. Cleaners had left a dirty tissue on the bed.

The worker at reception said they were full so he couldn’t move my room. The best he could do was leave a note for the manager for morning.

I had to cancel my trip and return home at 09:30 at night occurring significant cost. Nothing to do to help at all.

I have backpacked through Asia and traveled Australia and the world, never have I had to spend a night like this and never have reception been so powerless to help.

Don’t stay here. A backpackers is a better option.

Superb location and budget friendly in the middle of the CBD. Whilst the room was small it featured all the necessary features - en suite, frig, tea and coffee making and a double bed. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the room was nice and clean. This was my first stay at this hotel and I will definitely be returning next month. Luggage storage facility is also available.

I visited the ibis budget Melbourne CBD for a business trip for one night only.
The hotel is very tired.
No window furnishing in room 203 meant light flooded in all night, tv remote didn’t work and the room was cold when I walked in from 10ft green outside.
The are dings all over the walls and the seal was falling off the fridge.
Over all a pretty underwhelming experience.

At least the bed was clean and relatively comfortable and the location is excellent if you want to be central
