Their location on Little La Trobe street is just so convenient -RMIT and Melbourne Central are just around the corner. The rooms were clean, bed comfortable, and it absolutely had everything one could need, imaginatively tucked into the various corners of the room. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Very little street noise or noise from other guests, even over the weekend. I would definitely go back. There is a print store next door - convenient for business travellers.

Lovely hotel. Excellent value for money, staff were all fabulous, easy walk/tram to everything, great food options around, rooms are a little small but make excellent use of their space, would definitely stay here again.

They send you an online link for check-in which was very easy to complete.

There is quite a bit of construction going on in front of the hotel so the road gets a bit clogged up. Though, you can't hear anything from the room (unless you're outside on the balcony) which is nice.

We got in a little early (just after 1pm) but fortunately our room was already ready so we were able to settle in immediately.

Everything is in good walking distance, we spent a lot of time eating at nearby Queen Victoria Market as well as the restaurants along Elizabeth Street. Chinatown was also nearby for lots of tasty eats.

Housekeeping did come by daily. Though they do adhere to the towels on the floor get replaced and hanging elsewhere do not.

The shower is a little awkward in that the glass partition keeping the water in the shower should probably be a little longer. There's quite a bit of splash out into the area in front of the toilet from showering.

The Woolies at the end of the street is great for picking up whatever you may have forgotten along with all the snacks/candies/goodies that everyone at home is asking for.

Check-out was very smooth and you can store your bags at the hotel after which was excellent for us as our flight was not until 9pm.

Best location with shopping, great cafes on our doorstep. And only a 15 min walk to amazing parks to walk and run (Princes Park and Royal Park). Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Made to feel welcome the moment we arrived. Rooms spotless and modern and loved the smell of the soaps and moisturisers they left each day in the bathroom too. Will definitely stay again and recommend highly.

Absolutely terrible. Not a wink of sleep and a I had a huge day at work

Receptionist lied to me and said construction noise would end at 6pm. It was 24 hours (every 30 seconds...drilling) the building is small and cheaply renovated. The water draining can be heard in the room very loudly. The aircon is either freezing or hot.
The balcony was filthy dirty with no chairs.

Just one half broken chair in shoebox room.

Location is terrible.
Remote in room was thick with sludge and filthy I had to antibacterial wipe down most of the room.

Worst hotel stay I have had in years and I stay in hotels for work weekly.

Dear tastytraveleraus, Many thanks for taking the time to review the hotel. I am extremely apologetic for the impact of the State Governments Metro Construction. I have been advised by CYP which is the construction partner completing the works that "these works are classified as ‘unavoidable’ under the Out of Hours Works permit." Clearly this construction project has impacted your stay greatly, With the level of dust this has caused, and the two dust storms Melbourne has experienced in the last two weeks. Our balconies have taken the full impact of these. We are however not alone with this issue most of Victoria has been impacted. Our rooms are compact we do not try and hide this fact at all. We have detailed room descriptions available on the internet when booking, and agencies booking on your behalf receive this information. I have addressed the housekeeping issues with the team, and we are confident that the issues you experienced were a one off. Thanks once again for the feedback, and please accept my sincere apologies. Regards, Robert.

I would rate this hotel as a 4 or 5 but cannot do this for a hotel where building work right next to the hotel starts at 6am every morning. The noise is intolerable - I am a heavy sleeper but it wax impossible to sleep through the noise. I have seen several management comments that state that building work does not start until 7am. That would be bad enough but it is totally untrue. We were woken at just after 6am every single day. We were booked into the hotel as part of a package and had no choice about staying here. After the booking was made I found out about the potential for noise and emailed the hotel twice asking if we could have a room away from the noise. The hotel didn't even bother to reply. So I asked my friend who lives in Melbourne to telephone the hotel and ask. She asked twice and was told we would be allocated a quieter room. But we were given a room overlooking the building site where it was noisiest. I am not providing any review of the rooms, location or anything else as with the noise and poor customer service I would just recommend that anyone else does not book this hotel at any cost.

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel traveller4200. You are correct there is construction taking place around the hotel. These works are a part of the metro tunnel project, and I am sure you will have noticed that there are several sites in key areas of the CBD that are impacted by these works. I am personally at the hotel most mornings prior to 6am and have not seen or heard any noise or works. We do note that the rubbish bins are collected in the early hours, the city of Melbourne requires that rubbish trucks are out of the city prior to the morning peak hour. The collection of the rubbish does create a low level of noise however I can see it has affected your stay. It would have been great to receive some feedback on the rooms, I am also surprised by your comments on the poor customer service, this is clearly at odds with majority of reviews on here. Regards, Robert

We stayed at The Brady Hotel in Melbourne for 3 nights as part of a package from our tour operator featuring flights, hotels and cruise. Shortly before departing the UK we heard about building works. We contacted the Hotel to advise them we would be arriving late and not give us a “noisy “ room. We emailed the hotel twice as we received no reply. My wife has a pen friend in Melbourne and she contacted the hotel for us to be told OK. We arrived after midnight obviously shattered dumped the cases in the room and looked out of window to see a building site. Thought, OK. This must be OK as we contacted the Hotel. We went to bed to be woken by plant machinery kicking off ust after 6am. This was after being previously being woken by dustbin lorries doing their rounds around 5am! We thought for goodness sake. It got worse as at 7am the builders started banging piles into the ground and the noise was intolerable. I had a bottle of water by the bed and reminded me of the scene in Jurassic Park with the ripples In the puddle. We had 3 days of this including Saturday as we thought maybe get a better nights sleep. I have photos of builders on site at 6.15am. There were 2 big jib cranes an excavator and 2 cement mixers. The crane driver could have climbed along his jib and asked to use our toilet or make him a cuppa. I have noticed most stock answers of complaint appear to be basically it's not my fault it's the building work. For me there are several issues. 1, not answering emails. 2, ignoring our request & 3, The cruise company using this hotel to acclimatise you to Australian time. That side of the hotel should not be used full stop as it's not fit for purpose. It's a basic 3 star hotel which is fair enough if no building work but at present I begrudge giving it a 1. We have also written to our tour operator as they should not send people to this hotel. If I knew it was going to be this bad for 3 days I would have paid extra and moved. In 3 nights i slept a total of 12 hours.

Hi lizardman50, Thanks for the feedback, there is definitely construction going on around the hotel. In fact most of Melbourne's CBD is under some sort of construction. Your stay was during January 2020, which is quite a busy period in Melbourne. Room allocations are done with the best of intentions. Unfortunately we cannot always give everyone their requests, the room type that you booked for your stay are in this are. Regards, Robert

My husband made a booking to stay at this hotel in late March for our anniversary but with the COVID-19 pandemic, Victoria had closed it's borders and it was physically not possible. The hotel staff initially said we could get a full refund due to COVID-19 restrictions and told him to cancel on booking.com and their staff would process the refund. No refund was issued and when my husband enquired a week later the hotel staff denied stating a full refund was available and they could not do anything about it as the booking was made on booking.com. Very disappointed with the lack of understanding and decency from hotel staff in the extreme circumstances. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

For the amount I spent toilets should work, it was like staying in a place with a drop toilet or portaloo with the smell of the toilet and bathroom. I paid 180 a night to stay so I was getting disappointed especially with no one taking it seriously or offering compensation. When someone ” fixed it” it felt like they didn’t do anything they sprayed just sprayed the room because toilet still stunk and the Taps and flushing weren’t working that great.

I hadn’t even used the toilet when it stunk that bad since arrival. Not a nice way to wake up in morning to go to bathroom and it to smell like open sewage. Offering me a bottle of water as compensation was a real slap in the face. I should have had a reduction in price but no one seemed to care because I booked through qantas. They said it was too hard. Also some of the rooms next door to me were loud and playing music and partying. Definitely won’t be staying here again or recommending it. They were also understaffed with 6 staff members looking after whole hotel for Anzac long weekend when hotel was booked out. Just seemed a bit unfair to pay that much money for such an experience.

* Stayed here in early July 2022
* Great location, a block from the trams of the Melbourne CBD
* Room was small but clean. Annoyingly the bathroom fan made a loud humming sound in the entire room when it or the bathroom light was on. AC also made a dripping water sound for about 15 minutes at a time. TV would also randomly turn on at night and wake me up.
* Cranes of construction directly outside my room from 7am to midnight
* Really awful wifi. Frustratingly slow, would constantly drop signal on devices requiring reconnection.

I would probably stay near here again but not at this particular hotel. Basic things that holiday travelers want (wifi, a quiet room) they somehow haven't figured out, and the best thing about it — the location — is available at many other nearby hotels as well.

We were given a 2 bedroom apartment on the very top floor.
Rooms were spotless, kitchenette was functional and fully equipped, bedding was comfortable and the pillows were great - housekeeping should be commended.
I was expecting noise from the construction downstairs, but it was quiet in our rooms and we had peaceful sleep.
Location is perfect central, a skip and a hop from Melbourne Central, Swanston Street Trams, and Woolworths and BWS is on same laneway.
Front desk help and service manager were helpful and cheerful.
First time I’ve stayed at this Boutique Hotel, and it truly exceeded our expectations considering the good deal we got for the 3 nights. Will gladly return.

Traveled in Mar and regret not taking the SkyBus. The online taxi estimate was A$40 so we figured with two people it was about the same as SkyBus it would be about the same price. That was wrong. The taxi was almost A$80 and if you wanted to pay by card, it was a further 10% charge! For the return trip to the airport we walked to the tram stop at LaTrobe/Elizabeth and caught the free tram to Southern Cross to connect to the SkyBus. Little LaTrobe and LaTrobe are both on a hill so if going to the hotel with baggage, would probably take the tram to the Melbourne Central stop on the corner of LaTrobe/Swanston so you can walk down hill to the hotel.

We were there in September. There was a lot of construction going on outside - but this did NOT affect us at all inside the hotel. They weren’t working through the night and we never heard them in the morning. I would definitely Recommend this hotel - the staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful, and the rooms are gorgeous, comfortable and well designed. The construction is NOT a problem.
