I booked a night away with my wife and planned to visit some bars and eateries close by the Sheraton Melbourne so it was a convenient stay. The hotel looks small from the front but is much larger once stepping in from Lt Collins St entrance. Parking is across the road in Wilson’s car park and the hotel charge $35 for self park or $60 for valet. The rooms are large enough and the modern bathroom has a bath and separate shower. I had a swim in the lap pool but struggled to swim as there were a few people. The steam room was a ripper. We had breakfast included and during COVID the buffet was closed so we had a a la crate breakfast menu to choose from which was very good. My only gripe was the coffee machine, I hate the automated coffee machines at hotels, they make a terrible coffee and are a pain to work. Overall the stay was good, location very handy to trendy restaurants and bars which is probably the main reason why you would stay at the Sheraton Melbourne. Bar Lourinha next door is a wonderful Tapas Bar.

We had booked a large number of rooms for the Melbourne Grand Prix. We checked in on the Thursday, rooms were very nice obviously they have been renovated recently and the service was good. Unfortunately the Grand Prix was cancelled on the Friday, the hotel was fantastic and let us cancel all of the rooms at no cost which many thousands of $.
The hotel is in a great location with a large number of restaurants and bars close by.
Thanks Sheraton for making a bad situation better for us!

I stayed here with some points with my two children. The room was clean and fresh and the bathroom large with a great shower. The pool was fabulous and relaxing. I couldn't easily find a usb point to charge my phone so I'm not sure if there was one there. The clock was not set and I found it difficult to work it out, the room slept 4 (2 x double) however we were only given coffee/tea making for 2 so had to ask for more. These are small things and certainly wouldn't stop me from staying there again. I was offered a discounted breakfast of for $25 and my kids were offered breakfast for $20 each. I haven't been asked to pay for breakfast for my children before but I certainly wasn't going to pay $20 for a piece of Vegemite toast so we went elsewhere for breakfast and paid half of what the hotel would have charged us.

As a Marriott BonVoy member I stretched the travel budget to stay here six times during Dec'19 and Jan'20. The rooms are a good size, air con works well, great separate shower to the bath with large overhead rose and also the wall rose with massage functions etc. Always got a cheery Hello / Good Morning or Can I help you with your bag? from the door staff. The gym is open 24 hours and is well equipped, but overall the place just misses that 'something' you expect.

There is an outdoor terrace bar where I was very much looking forward to having dinner and drinks (the main restaurant area has no soul whatsoever) , but in 12-15 nights I've stayed it has only been open once and that was for a private function.

I regularly spent too long waiting for a table at breakfast, and every time I was asked if I was a BonVoy member. They have a list from which they check you off, and although you see many faces when you are in service it shouldn't take long before you start to recognise someone - I was a stranger every time. I found this situation perplexing as I figured it would be simple to add BonVoy status and whether breakfast was included to that list. One morning I glanced down when my name was checked and was surprised to see VIP next to it - must say I wasn't feeling it!

Stayed at the Sheraton for the second time in Melbourne on business. Check-in wasn’t particularly friendly, felt cold. The room was modern and well appointed however was woken at 5:45am by drilling and construction trucks honking horns, this isn’t the hotels fault but patrons should be aware.
The icing on the service cake was breakfast. As a Titanium member it is included in my rate. $5 if you want a coffee and being vegan asked if I could get avocado since I don’t eat eggs. The hold items comprised of eggs, meat and more eggs. Was told if I wanted I’d have to pay $4. This is just ugly and leaves you ready to walk out.

Great service, Sheraton and thank you for being open! Five stars to Peter and his team.

As Melbourne is in tight lockdown many hotels are closed – not the Sheraton. While there are few guests, the Sheraton team keeps up the excellent customer care and service. Every morning my day started with a call to reception for a cheerful morning greeting from James and my breakfast order. I actually miss the morning greeting after I checked out. During lockdown it was wonderful to have James and Peter to visit with each day. They were patient with me and we always had interesting exchanges about the pandemic and life in lockdown. Breakfast is delicious as are the other choices on the night menu from the kitchen. Room service is available on request and the staff checked with me each day if there was anything I needed. When it was time to clean the room, I would leave the property and go for a walk outside to allow the staff to be socially distanced. My room was clean, spacious and conducive for working, relaxing and sleeping. And oh my, that fabulous bed is heavenly. I slept so well and never wanted to get up! As expected the hotel facilities are closed with the lockdown. The property is at an excellent location in the CBD and easy to walk out for exercise or to pick-up carry-out and for supermarket shopping. While the hotel has a skeleton staff during lockdown, they never showed it. Well done!

Its rare to find dollar for dollar value when you're staying in 5 star accomodation, however The Sheraton Melbourne broke this trend and made for a great stay. Rooms were spotless and did not feel tired or run down like many competitors, the amenities were top notch, and even the hotel-run spa facilities offered very competitive rates without feeling like you were being rushed in and out for your booking. Would highly recommend!

Poor, lacking and confused service.

Currently still checked in and a little disappointed with our Sheraton experience.

Hotels and companies in general need to drop the covid excuse for why reduced services and start owning up to the cost saving intent behind such poor customer experiences.

First issue was on day of check in (not check in the receptionist was extremely pleasant and helpful). We went up to the pool and sought to use the terrace bar to have a few drinks by the pool. A seemingly normal thing to do when on break. The bar is shut and being used as a store room/construction site and you need to order off a QR code (everything is QR code - no staff required =savings). Order some beers, cocktails and snack and given we were going to consume by the pool we asked for plastic cups (we are not idiots).

Drinks arrived a lot and we told that the “spa” said not drinking in the pool as there were children in there. This is international hotel chain not a childcare centre and the rules were quite clear on the pool wall this wasn’t stated. The lady serving us was apologetic but it wasn’t her fault not was it the fault of the person on the phone who I confirmed this was ok with.

It appears the hotel has gotten by during covid by advertising this place as a stay-cation hotel for cheap deals and cramming in locals and their kids into every crevice of the joint.

Second item was housekeeping and one can only conclude cost saving. It’s a weekend and we sleep in…fair enough. But with 4 of us in a room we still want our room made up when we leave. New towels etc. we left our room at 11.30am and apparently that was too late for our room to be made up so we come back to our room with our wet towels still on the floor and fill rubbish bins.

I travel to Melbourne and elsewhere for work a lot. Usually stay at the Hilton but we had too many people for their rooms to accommodate in a single room. I know what’s covid enforced and what is simply cost saving and a poor customer experience.

I sincerely worry about the older generations that want to order some room service and get told to use a QR code because when you call them on the phone they ring out and/or hang up.

Next time will spend the extra $$ and book 2 rooms at the Hilton and give my money to another hotel chain.

My partner and I had a one night stay here with 3pm check-in and 11am checkout. We booked through bookings com and recipient a great price. The deal includes a glass of sparkling wine on arrival with canapes and drinks from 5 to 6 in the restaurant. I must say a special thanks to the restaurant manager Ricky, what an amazing chap, so friendly and helpful, a true asset to the hotel☺️ and compliments the rest of the fantastic staff.
The facilities are awesome, the pool, spa and steam room are lovely to relax in and meet other like minded people. This is attached to the rooftop bar where you can order food and drinks via a QR code, then the friendly staff bring it up to you. It also has a well appointed gym. There are shower facilities and lots of towels to use.
We stayed in the superior king room. I must say the window, or rather glass wall separating the bed and bathroom is a bit weird but does have a blind for privacy, the controls are next to the toilet, I did only find it when sitting on the toilet, wondering what this notion does, so I pushed it as you do, and the blind started descending 😆.
There are coffee and tea provided including a plunger but no ground coffee 🤔, they do provide t coffee bags that you could use but I don't see the point lol and freeze dried instant coffee so really the plunger is useless.
There is no minibar but room service is fast with great options, although they don't seem to like supplying you with salt and pepper for some reason. I did mention this to them, so hopefully they will from now. The food is off a high standards and not overly expensive, especially for a 5 star hotel.
We had a bath and a large shower area with a large shower head and handheld shower, and a single basin. The bench space is lacking but manageable and the hair dryer.. well best to bring your own. I can blow harder😆💨. There's an iron and ironing board, also the usual safe.
The bed was very comfortable, it only lacked extra pillows. They need a pillow menu, or maybe they do, it's just not made very obvious, and I'm sure you could request more from reception. After all they are very helpful.
The climate control is also very hard to work out, I didn't find any instruction for it and just pressing buttons didn't seem to work. Instructions on the wall next to the controller wouldn't go astray.
All in all the rooms are very clean and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

At the 27 Little Collins st Sheraton for 3 nights during Jan 20.

The good

Relatively spacious, good toiletries, good location, front desk staff ok, Concierge staff friendly and helpful.

The average
Tired looking reception furniture, lack lustre LED lights, old carpets, no views on even number rooms on the upper floors.

The worst

Breakfast: It is open until 10:30 am. We arrived around 10 with an elderly person in 80s and the indonesian woman at the receiving desk made it pointedly clear that we were late and that they will close in 30 min. No smile, stern tone and overall unfriendly face. Then we found people turning up as late as 10:25 am!! Later on she must have realised how poor her behaviour was and came back to our table for a make up small talk! The damage was already done!!

Then there is Patrick, the tall chap who wanders around as if he is super busy. When you observe him, he is not! He is just clearing dishes and nothing overly demanding. He received us for the other two days, had no interest in seating us appropriately despite seeing an elderly person in our group, made no gestures to help us in any way. We heard him tell a couple who had just entered that the "breakfast closes in 7 min". In fact, he went around every table to tell people that the "breakfast closes in x min" every single day we were there. It appeared that young Patrick simply does not like people enter breakfast area and wished that every one left asap. The fact that lot of people turn up after 10 am implies that that is customer preference. If Sheraton wants to serve customers, then perhaps find a way to address that need.
There was another young girl wandering around and we observed that she was rude too. The breakfast floor staff was uniformly bad and had poor customer service attitude! All of them must realise the very simple fact that the customers are the very reasons that they all have a their jobs!!!
Lastly, the food! It lacked imagination, same stuff everyday and of poor quality except for pre-packed items. We ordered two veg omelettes and whatever was given to us was a disgrace. The kangee and the bits that went with it were smelly. I have never seen 2kg of Koji berries dumped in a large bowel and brought out everyday. They had oxidised and did not even taste like berries. Overall, it was as if the catering and floor staff were working to diminish sheraton's clientele. Poor show, bottom quartile in performance and attitude.
We were happy to leave!!
