The Greeting at reception was very professional. Staff were very accomodating. As we had not stayed in the Hotel before I was unaware that you had to tap your room card to make the lift go. Other travellers were happy to explain. The rooms were comfy and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. Room temperature in the night was a little stuffy, we tried to put the climate control down to the lowest but it didn't move from about 21 degrees. Extraordinary breakfast. Amazing food and such an ensemble. THe fact breakfast goes till 11 makes it for a more enjoyable stay as you don't have to rush to get up or you can do your exercise prior to sitting down to breakfast. The Langham is situated right on Southbank and has easy access to Melbourne City Centre, Docklands, Crown, Aquarium etc. Loads of foody places to indulge in along the River. Rather than snack on the goodies in the room, duck down to 7/11 - one minute from the main door of the Hotel. Cheaper and more choice. My overall experience I would rate 9 out of 10. I’m so disappointed! Having visited other ‘Langham hotels’ around the world this is the most disappointing. A beautiful facade and entrance but a very tired interior, especially my bedroom!! Stained curtains, tired furnishings, and grubby sofa . Extremely dated! ‘Beige beige and a bit more beige’. Definitely NOT a 5 star hotel like The Langham flagship hotel in London or others in the Langham chain that I have visited frequently. Dated Bakelite plug sockets at skirting board level, no USB sockets, but dial up modem from the 90’s! Mini bar fridge was the size of a normal fridge, the same as I had in my kitchen back in the 1980’s but my freezer box worked and the door wasn’t hanging off!! Very shoddy!!! A tired, jaded hotel that needs to get a facelift.

We stayed 4 nights in an executive corner room with club lounge access. The hotel is perfectly located on the south of the Yarra river, within walking distance of all the City's main attractions. The entrance to the hotel has the wow factor and the all pervading Langham 'scent'. Buffet breakfast was superb with a very large and varied selection. The Club lounge was very pleasant with a really nice retro feel and all the staff very professional. We did find the 'nibbles' to be very limited and the 8pm closure to be quite strictly enforced, as such unless you get a good deal I wouldn't bother paying extra for the Lounge access. Although we thought this was a really good hotel, we have deducted a star due to the room only being serviced during the afternoons, once at 16:00hrs we had to request the service, which only consisted of the loo being flushed, towels changed and bed made. The room was never hoovered nor the bathroom floor/shower ever cleaned during our stay. Also upon checking out we found the Clerk's attitude very supercilious and condescending. Having said that he was the exception, as all the other staff were very friendly,courteous and professional …

One of the most luxurious hotels we've thoroughly enjoyed. Great location with excellent service from the staff. We didn't use the pool however we had a view to it, good size pool area. We would definitely come back.
