Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for a function and stayed overnight. The service was disgusting. They didn’t understand what you were asking for the curtains in the function room where we were had big stains all over them it was disgusting. The room was so hot you were just pouring with sweat. The air-conditioner wasn’t on the next day for breakfast as well. That was absolutely disgusting. There were flies all in these baskets that weren’t covered. The scrambles eggs were soggy, the toaster, only burnt one side of the bread, the bacon was cold. The meat was warm would not recommend anybody to go to this hotel. It was really really bad

Avoid!! AC does NOT work, even when changed rooms!!, Dirty, Old, Worn Out decor, Reception struggled to understand and speak English, Parking is a joke as You have to pay $25 each time you want to take your car out!! - Showers over tub!, No railng, Beds are like Fred Flintstones, Pillows are worn out, Linen was rough, Overall everything was dusty and needed a good clean. - But the main kicker was the AC on a 36 degree day!! They brought me a Kmart fan! Place is a joke! Go elsewhere!!!

I gave this hotel stay 3 stars for a few reasons but mostly because of the bed being so uncomfortable. REASONS TO STAY HERE: *Location *Really easy check-in, with lovely friendly and professional staff. *My room was on 4th floor with a view to the lake. *Spacious room with a couch and coffee table and roomy desk. *Very clean. *Great easy check out. Again lovely staff. REASONS TO NOT STAY HERE: *I had a king bed which was 2 single beds pushed together. This makes for a very uncomfortable sleep. The beds was also quite hard. Overall quite possibly the most uncomfortable hotel bed that I can recall. *No conditioner or body lotion. *No powerpoints near the bed. *QR code hotel information. I always ask for a hardcopy hotel booklet and room service menu. They didn't have this as an option for guests. QR code or nothing. After a long 12 hour day working I don't want to come back to the hotel, have to put my glasses back on to use my phone to order room service. Might seem like a little inconvenience but any hotel that insists on QR code for in room will never get more than 3 stars from me. *Room Service finishes at 930. *breakfast starts at 630 (6 would be better) Overall, not the worst, but not great.

room wasn't ready when i checked in at 3:45pm. staff person was friendly but there was little they could do. went to conference with my baggage eventually got room which was good. In confusion however i failed to double check length of booking which ended up being one night short. i figured it out the day before but hotel, which didn't seem full, didn't have any rooms i could extend to at a similar rate. ended up switching to the Four Seasons at the Botanical Gardens at that was better and less expensive

The room was comfortable and clean. The hotel was very busy and it was chaos ordering food and drinks. More staff needed to cope with the rush plus cleaning staff as lounge tables, carpet area and rubbish bins needed constant attention. Staff were friendly. Trying to contact any department by telephone was impossible. No one ever answered the phone. We appreciated a late check-out. We had to pay for four nights on arrival plus a $200 bond. On check out we were promised return of the bond within four hours. Three days later no bond has appeared. Would we book again...not sure 50/50 chance.

Worked out why we thought we are experiencing an earthquake - the 3 day Hi-Fi Show occupies the entire 2 floors directly below us. It's certainly an immersive experience. Why did someone think it was a good idea to let rooms directly above a full-floor HiFi spectacular? Had to get out and wander the streets; returned at 3:30pm, someone got distracted!! The curtains were drawn, but nothing else done....found some maids in the hallway to ask for clean towels. Looking for Basil Fawlty behind the desk....

This hotel has 2 brands - Mercure and Pullman. Same concierge and bar but different towers for each brand. We have stayed in Pullman previously and found facilities to an excellent standard including bathrooms, hallways and lifts. This weekend was our first stay in the Mercure tower and we just needed a quick getaway as had a function nearby. We found the room perfectly fine. It was basic and not to the Pullman tower standard but good enough for us. Room was spacious with a couch and king size bed. Bathroom did have the shower over a bath which we did not like but everything was clean and all acceptable for a 3 star hotel. The hallways and lift on the Mercure Tower are in desperate need of an overhaul with just a cleanup making a difference. As our previous stay the staff at the Pullman /Mercure are all wonderful and welcoming - this includes the bar and restaurant staff. We got an exceptionally good deal on the Mercure side and after our recent trip will not worry about staying there again.

I stayed here for four nights in April 2023. The hotel is roughly 25-30 minutes by car from the airport and easy to get to through main roads. The hotel is clean and relatively modern. There is an on-site restaurant, bar, rental car agency (Europcar), and other facilities. It is located about a flat, 45-minute walk to the CBD in a mainly residential area. However, the St Kilda and South Yarra shopping areas are about a 10-minute walk away. Right around the corner there is a Vietnamese restaurant and a convenience shop a block away. The conference facilities at the hotel are very good. The room was quite large with a huge bed, sofa, coffee table, and work desk. The room had an iron and ironing board, TV, safe. mini fridge, kettle to boil water for tea and coffee etc. It would have been nice to have a Nespresso machine. Note to hotel: the location of the safe was really inconvenient on the floor of the wardrobe. I had to bend down to use it and had to lift the safe up a few cm so that door would open all the way over the cupboard door rail. Think of other guests who may not be able to use a safe that low. The hotel is good but, in terms of location, it depends on how far you want to be from the CBD. I walk a lot, so it was not a problem for me but it's not all that conveniently located for the CBD which is about 4 km away. You could walk to a tram stop a couple of blocks away. St Kilda beach was only 2 km away, and that's worth a visit.

Overall I had a great stay at this hotel. I would especially like to thank Swasti for her help with the check in. She was very friendly and helpful. I want to thank Richard (concierge) for all his help, including booking the excursions and the extra good tips he gave. The advice / tips regarding public transport have also helped me a lot. In addition, he was just nice and friendly. I would like to thank Vivi (and her colleagues in the kitchen) for the excellent breakfast that I enjoyed every day. This was (one of) the best breakfasts I've had in all my years of travelling. Extensive choices and the hot food was actually warm. Unfortunately have I often experienced the breakfast differently (cold/not warm). Finally, I would like to thank Linda for helping me a lot with the situation that my neighbor was smoking in his room! She really took the time to listen to me.

I stayed two nights in Feb 23. I stood behind the world's longest check in for demanding guest. Said guest returned to reception within 2 minutes with photos of his room and demanding a change. This made me a tad concerned but no need. Reception staff were very polite. My room was as expected. It was neat and tidy and the bed was wonderful, great linen. TV was modern and excellent. Air con great. Bathroom is out of date, but clean and no issues. Meals are good. Good vibe on the hotel ground floor with a bar which was well frequented. Clearly the hotel is overdue for a refurb and the prices could be lower to reflect that but it is still worth staying at. I would stay again.
