We were so pleased that we chose this hotel for our first visit to Melbourne, everywhere we wanted to visit was either within walking distance or just hop on the tram, free if you stay within the CBD. However it wasn't just the location, the general vibe is relaxed but friendly with lots of little treats keeping a smile on your face. Our bedroom was uber comfortable with everything you could ever want including Alexa, although the bathroom was on the small side.

When it comes to travelling or even deciding to spend a few days away somewhere my golden three word rule is location, location, LOCATION! And Ovolo Laneways is by far the perfect location for anyone who is interested in visiting this amazing city. As I wanted somewhere nice to stay so I could show my girlfriend who has come from France around town, I came across this hotel and after reading some reviews and hearing about other peoples personal experiences I thought it will be worth a shot. I can honestly say that not only did all these expectations I had meet but they were completely surpassed! Upon arrival we were greeted by lovely staff who helped direct us to secure parking (in which the hotel provides discount to the car park) and given some great tips on restaurants, bars, sites and general activities to do around town for our visit. I cant thank the staff enough for their efficiency and efforts to ensure our stay was pleasant. As we entered our room we were given a tote bag of snacks, mini bar filled with a great choice of craft beer and wine and the complimentary coffee and tea was definitely put to good use. The rooms were spotless and the bed has made me reconsider my choice of mattress. For a hotel bed it was a dream sleeping here! All in all I cant recommend Ovolo Laneways enough and I will definitely be returning here for a future stay in the city. You will not find a better spot to enjoy your time in Melbourne, thank you Ovolo Laneways and I will see you soon. Mark

This has to be, without a doubt the funkiest and best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. This hotel group does it ALL soooo well. They are a stand -out from the rest in so many little ways, that when you add it all together……… gosh you’d never stop anywhere else!!! Firstly, the location is excellent on Little Bourke Street (between Lonsdale, Spring and Exhibition Streets) with all the theatres and restaurants close by. On arrival, we were met with the friendliest receptionist who made us feel they have been waiting for our arrival and perhaps we were running a little late. There is a personal interest in every guest from the time you step inside the front door. The décor is bright, and out of the lift on every floor you step into a design gallery of artwork that requires your full attention and appreciation of every piece. The huge jars of help – yourself sweets in the foyer were wonderful and made me feel like a kid in a candy shop. My partner’s eyes lighting up at the 24/7 help yourself Nespresso machine. The room was really comfortable with minimalist décor but lots of toys, Apple TV, Amazon Alexa and an i-pad. The bed was hugely comfortable, with plenty of storage space and robes/slippers. The welcome bag of munchies was outstanding, along with a full complimentary mini bar of wine, sparkling and soft that was replenished daily. The bathroom was tiny but adequate with loads of linen and toiletries. Looking inside other rooms on our way out the layout of each room here is quite different. Breakfast in the small reception area was a stand out. The very best pastries, bread, charcuterie, cheeses, yogurt, fruit salad, nuts, fresh juices and of course T2 and Nespresso coffees. You are encouraged to take a tray, load it up and head back to your room. There wasn’t a thing we could complain about even to being allowed to stay a little longer in our room at checkout. Every request was met with a “can do” and we were given the best recommendations for dining throughout our stay from the ever- cheerful receptionists. The evening happy hour with champagne, wine or soft prior to dinner was also a huge hit and replenishment happened without ever having to ask. This hotel has nailed it in every way with everything they offer, and I would thoroughly recommend Ovolo to anyone wanting to stay in the best location, amongst the friendliest and most professional staff I have ever met at any hotel.

The staff at Ovolo Laneways have mastered the art of creating a memorable and delightful experience for their guests. I was treated like absolute royalty and nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms are so beautiful and comfortable, and of course the in-room goody bag, and mini bar and social hour, oh and of course the candy bar at reception just add to the experience.
I especially loved having access to free laundry facilities (even the laundry powder) which made my stay so much easier.
The location is so convenient and there are many many restuarants of different types to explore within a very short walking distance.

Have never stayed here previously with most of my business tripes wing at Park Hyatt or Crown. However, we wanted something close to the Princess theatre with food reviews.
Ovolo really delivered. Location is very handy to the theatre (so much so we avoided bathroom queue’s at intermission). The front desk staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and, finding out we were first time guests, took time to point out what was unique and different about the hotel - the free lollie bar was a bit with the kids and the free minibar a hit with the parents!
2 bedroom apartment was small but ok.
Downsides were a tiny bathroom which had a combined light and exhaust fan that was so loud I dare not turn it on of an evening.
The laneway location is also really handy but also means you’re occasionally stepping over the nearby homeless - which is fine, just be ready for it.

We stayed at Ovolo as a group of eight visiting Melbourne for Harry Potter and Australian Open. The staff were extremely helpful and always happy and helpful. The location is easy to access and the parking, whilst a block away was also easy and discounted to $16/day which is fantastic for Melbourne. All the included freebies were very much appreciated. They acknowledged my birthday with a lovely card, wine and chocolates. The fridge was stocked with beer, wine, soft drink and water. The Lolly bar was impossible to resist as you walked past, happy hour was a nice touch and the breakfast exceeded expectations. The rooms are comfortable and trendy although not so private for two couples. We were grateful for the extra toilet in the foyer. The sliding bathroom door is not such a great feature. My only suggestion was to have some less fluffy pillows available. The pillows were like clouds but too high for me. I asked at reception but there was no others available. Just a small thing but that’s the only negative in our three night stay. We would definitely return. The staff really make the Ovolo stand out!

The Staff are super friendly and polite, yes is a Free MiniBAR and happy hour that is a good thing but you kind of paying for it upfront, because is not cheap, the included breakfast was horrible another bad thing is the Hotel need a bit of Maintenance, beds were clean but you can tell the sofa and rugs need a good steam clean.. we book the Penthouse expecting real '"penthouse" experience, but no way far from, The Jacuzzi took a very long time to heat up, they advertise Pinball Machine in the room, but is not working, I know is not a big deal, but don't advertise if doesn't work, other thing the rooms don't have a separate thermostat so if guests in room #one want cooler than room #two not possible again Staff very polite and Friendly but maybe owners not listening to the staff? all day snacks not kind of true, is just candies and lollies, not real snacks.. Anyways, overall I feel, like I overpaid for a average service..

#1 I was hoping complaints about garbage trucks a d emptying of bottles on reviews was just people being sensitive but I am guarantee you will not get good sleep here.
The bins are emptied at 5-7am continuously and there are only single glazed windows.
I had contemplated leaving after 1 night due to sleep quality.
#2 Staff are very friendly and helpful. Vibe of this hotel is more akin to a hostel - e.g happy hour in the tiny foyer, free lollies.
#3 Decor of rooms is modern. Fittings are cheap, tactfully done. Location is great.

I stayed at Ovolo Laneways with my partner and our pooch Izzy for a weekend in Melbourne and this place absolutely blew us away. Check in and Parking were super easy (despite only getting in to Melbourne quite late on Friday evening). The room was immaculately made up with a welcome bag for Izzy full of treats and a bonus plush squeaky toy which she enjoyed demolishing over the course of the weekend. The staff were all extremely welcoming, but Meg and Ash went above and beyond to welcome us and make sure that we had the best little weekend getaway. The hotel itself has a great location nestled in to the theatre district and adjacent to Chinatown with a bunch of great restaurants and bars in close proximity. Happy hour was also a great place to get a drink or two before heading out. Can’t recommend this place enough for those hoping to have a weekend in town with their furry friends.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and we were really impressed with all aspects of our stay. Located in one of the laneways and close to all amenities, our stay was troublefree. Our room was located on the first floor and it was a one bedroom suite, very spacious and well equiped with all amentities at your fingertips. The little extras like the bar fridge contents and a goodies bag on arrival, add to the enjoyment of the stay. The front of house staff are friendly and helpful and are only too happy to assist.
The next time we return to Melbourne, we will go back to Ovolo and it is Highly Recommended.
