The hostel rooms were clean, I'll give it that, but it stops about there. The kitchen and common areas were usually pretty overrun and even though the room prices are not too expensive, they overcharge you for everything else (e.g. wifi in your room, laundry, etc.). Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

I stayed in a single with shared bathroom and was quite happy. I was on a higher floor with an excellent view of downtown Melbourne. Good location not far from mass transit. Bed was comfortable, especially for what is actually a hostel. Service was fast and efficient.

This hotel is exceptionally clean, staff are friendly and have a good welcoming attitude. This Hostel offers breathtaking views from the roof top terrace, which alone is worth the stay! Only downside is wifi is expensive but still totally worth the stay here. The rooms were really clean and had a good layout.

I'm sure my stay was not representative of the hotel/ hostel as a whole and I will add that it seemed quite clean and safe and secure for solo travellers. However, I arrived very late from Sydney last night and went up to my room only to find that the only bed available had no bedding at all. exhausted, I...

This is a fine place to stay if you're young or on a budget. It's located close to the city center, and the staff are really helpful. However, they charge for Wifi, which sucks, and they have very strict alcohol policies within the hostel. The bar attached to Space Hotel closes really early too - I've never heard of a...

Great! So clean and neat, staff is nice and rooms are big with nice beds and lots of storage space. Many floors, so lots of walking up and down the stairs. Kitchen is big and clean, same with eating area. Wifi only works all the way down by the lobby with a internet/computer corner you can use. Single showers (could...

I had a amazing stay in the "deluxe room" / "Balcony En-suite room". They have a very friendly staff and the room was very clean. Beside of that they had nice facilities like a gym, kitchen, rooftop and many more. Things like Victoria market, South War, RMIT, city centre are on walking distance. I had a great stay,

The free WiFi in the lobby is painfully slow. You won't be able to do anything. It was hell. I was forced to go and buy a local sim card. What's worse, if you want wifi in your room you have to pay for it. This is unacceptable considering Space hotel is not cheap relatively. There is no excuse for...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
