6 bed dorm way too small, no space for luggage. The people stay in groups of 2 or 3, not very socializing. Kitchen is big, everything's there what's needed. Bathrooms good, big plus for the hugh rooftop

Dear angela0604, Thank you for choosing Discovery Melbourne. I am sorry you were allocated into a small room. Regarding the guests staying in groups of 2 or 3's, unfortunately there is not much we can do. I am glad you enjoyed the kitchen, bathrooms and the rooftop. We work hard to keep these areas presentable for our guests. Again, thank...

I stayed in a 16 bad dorm, which is a lot of people no matter where you go, but just about the cheapest thing I could find. Definitely not the nicest place I've been, but a very good value for the price. The room itself was very cramped with that many people in it, but was very clean. The bed...

Fantastic location. right next to the Queen Victoria market and great places to eat locally. It is not a five star hotel but most of the staff made our stay very welcoming. Peter and Carolyn were a delight to talk too, as they always had a smile on their faces and recommended great places to visit. Unfortunately not all security...

Stayed in a 6 bed single bunk dorm with two adults and three kids and found it to be clean and comfortable. Toilet and showers were clean and modern. Walls are pretty thin so you do hear noise from rooms next door but that is to be expected. Just opposite Queen Vic market and doesn't take long to get into...

Stayed at the Discovery due to its location close to North Melbourne. Still in the CBD, so easy to get trams, great little café with good size meals, at a very affordable price. The room was clean, if small, but I didn't need much more than a bed. The shared bathrooms were clean but could use some maintenance.

I stayed over the Grand Prix weekend in a private room as just wanted a place to crash and couldn't afford $500 a night being charged by the hotels! Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
