Had to stay here at last minute after flight cancellation, few things 1. Very easy to book on iPhone in taxi via Accor website 2. Location....perfect for train station ad bus to airport (18 bucks v 60 in a cab). Not ideal for city but, pay 100 bucks less stay here and do the 10 min walk. 3 . The...

Very basic 3 star hotel, but that's Ibis, bit disappointed in the location, as having an elderly person with me, we couldn't just walk to city center. Staff friendly, professional. Room very basic, looked out onto a building site, so had blinds pulled down.Wouldn't stay for long term. Close to bus station & sky bus to airport, we left hotel...

We had a good friendly welcome and a good big bed.The hotel is clean and basic. You need not much more for a 3 night stay. The location is ideal, being fairly central and is close to many restaurants of varying nationalities...Japanese,Chinese,Italian etc.Excellent shopping abounds.Melbourne is a great, safe city with a vibrant feel and is well worth a visit.

We chose to stay at the ibis because of its location. It is clean and a fair deal for the price paid. The rooms are a little small, and there was no view at all, but the staff were friendly and the location was convenient for us.

I have stayed at the hotel before and was tempted back by a TV offer for a room with breakfast for $109 that happened to coincide with a business meeting in Melbourne. The hotel is very near to Southern Cross station where you can get the Skybus to and from the airport. This was my first Accor stay since qualifying...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
