Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked via booking.com for daughter heading to Taylor Swift Payment was to be taken to hotel prior to arrival A few weeks out a charge was made by the hotel to test the credit card then returned so clearly they had access and card number On check in she was told had to pay on the spot Completely unhelpful staff who told some absolute nonsense about how booking.com said pay at the property when it did not She literally had the email in hand Then it was a story about not using the card they had tested on the booking because she did not have it with her and then a story about how a manager told him he could not use said card without actually producing said manager when asked After some rigmarole transferring cash and getting checked in room was straight out of a youth hostel Certainly not what’s expected for 376 aud per night Highly recommend looking elsewhere The location does not outweigh the rest of the experience

A short account of what happened: upon arrival on at 22:30 approx. we were given a room on 3rd floor. The whole floor smelt like material from renovation works, and of dust. We were not told beforehand that renovations were in process. We entered the room and found: • No refrigerator • No bed-side lamp • The phone didn’t work and was covered with dust • No tv screen • The wardrobe had one door missing We complained and were told there was no other room available. Finally, a new room appeared on another floor and we asked to see it first. When entering the room, we saw luggage in it, probably the belongings of another guest. Third attempt, another room on 3rd floor where we finally stayed until next day when we booked into another hotel. This room had: • No curtains or black-out on the window • No bed-side lamp • No phone • No iron, though there was an ironing-board • And no shower-head in the bathroom… the receptionist came with one and a monkey-wrench and fitted it in. There are two elevators in the building, one of them was OUT OF ORDER Supervisor not to be found anywhere anytime. Reimbursement was settled to hotel's convenience, as the fees “are different for every night” (quote) If a hotel must be renovated, the renovation areas should not be rented or offered. Or at least the guest should be warned of this situation and let decide for or against taking the room. I am giving just one point only because the receptionists were kind, understanding and helpful, the only asset to the hotel. And the mattresses were comfortable.

The toilet wasn’t working. And i couldn’t get a new room. The service was so bad, everytime i asked the reception if i could get money back they said i have to wait for the supervisor to show up. The supervisor never showed up. I wrote an e-mail as the suggested in the reception, but haven’t got a response. The room was dusty and it smelled like piss in the whole hotel for some reason. Waste of money going on that hotel. Only worth a few dollars

Where to start. From check in I could see this would be a rubbish experience when myself and three others were left standing there for 15 mins waiting to check in while reception staff talked amongst themselves and then seemed to have a system issue which required all of them to stand there and giggle for 10 minutes. To the room...You know those usually horrible IBIS budget motels that reside along the side of highways in very inconvenient locations? Well this screams ibis vibes for days with its horrifically bad decor which doesn't seem like it's been given a dusting in its life in fact the entire room is caked in dust and filth. Be aware the pictures online are VERY enhanced. The room itself is dark, drab and unwelcoming. Don't worry about the fact you can't open the blind fully (not that I had a view anyway) because they have obviously never in their time in operation hired an external window cleaner. The rooms are in need of a deep clean and some new furniture paint etc. because for a similar price you get a much more modern and comfortable room at Travelodge for example. Only one light in the room worked and the one that did work plus the bedside lamps were flickering like mad suggesting some sort of wiring issues. Tv was close to unusable as well as being probably 10 plus years old with the rubbish little spare remote that had literally a channel up and volume button that was it, and only worked some of the time. Now to one of the biggest issues I had during my stay which I have never experienced with any other entry system... the hotel or rather 'motel' boasts an old school insert card entry system which is old but still ok, however whatever is wrong with their cards I don't know which they blamed on me magnetising it by keeping it near other cards or my phone which I made sure I seperate it and it STILL did not let me into my room. Or the lift. Musky smell of mould throughout the whole place. I am contacting YEH hotels head office surrounding this establishment. DO NOT STAY HERE

Reasonably clean but in desperate need of a proper upgrade as bath and shower pretty shabby. Rather dodgy discounts for cash and retention of deposit having paid in full. Great location and reasonably cheap but not very cheerful. Poor service in cleaning rooms (not done after request)

Room was good and barring one staff Edward rest of the Staff were coronial and helpful. Location wise excellent as it’s convenient to catch train and tram and bus and is diagonally opposite to Southern Cross Station. Safe too. Doesn’t provide breakfast though

This Hotel is also known as YEHS. Be very careful of the good reviews as we were promised an upgrade by Ed (?) if we would do a good review as we checked in, without even seeing the room. We felt cheated after getting to our room, small, very tired and not clean. The only good things were the comfortable bed and the proximity to Southern Cross. But there are much better hotels close by at similar prices.

Good city location, small room (which is not a problem), dirty bathroom. I spoke to reception and showed them photos of the bathroom and asked if it could be cleaned, which she said yes to. When we returned to the room 12 hours later, the bathroom had only had towels changed. The walls still remained dirty with hairs stuck to it and dirty brown marks on it. The receptionist said the brown marks were paint…which I am not so sure about, either way the walls needed cleaning. I returned to reception and spoke to a different member of staff who said he would tell management but I didn’t hear anything. He was very apologetic about the situation and you could tell he wanted to sort it out. Sadly, I didn’t hear anything! In addition to this, the exactor fan grill was missing from the ceiling, leaving a big black hole above the shower, the smoke alarm was broken, wasn’t even fitted on, just the base and the hotel took $100 out of my account without telling me, we are assuming this was for the deposit but once again we’re not told. Hopefully this will be refunded! They didn’t tell us when we checked in, just took the money a few hours later. The lady who checked us on wasn’t very helpful and didn’t even know how to print a receipt for the hotel payment. I told her not to bother. Nor could she tell me how the carpark system worked either, luckily her male colleague was very helpful. If the room was clean and all the staff were more helpful rather than being so laid back about the situation then I would stay here again. However, I can’t deal with a dirty room.
