Only stayed here for one night recently as one in Melbourne for work. It was close to the office and clean and comfortable but is seriously dated. There was a strange smell in the kitchen.

Location was good, staff pretty friendly but hard to find when needed. Across the road there is a complex with a supermarket and fish and chip shop so if you need supplies or takeaway its on your doorstep. Also close to the tram line for links to CBD. Has okish wifi but the TV in my room only had 4 channels. Not sure I would stay again.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the apartment very comfortable. It is a 2 minute walk to a tram stop and a short tram ride to the city. You have a kitchen if needed and there is an IGA Supermarket just across the road. Park your car for free, catch a tram and have a great stay.

Three of us stayed here for one night and booked a deluxe double which was Room 3. It consisted of a bedroom with a double (maybe a queen...I can't remember...but it was very comfortable)....then a sofa bed in the lounge where our adult daughter slept. She said it was also a good bed. There was a small kitchen which we really didn't use, and a bathroom with a separate toilet. (Toilet was accessed through the bathroom). The bench space and mirror in the bathroom was plenty big enough for two of us to do our makeup etc at the same time. (I had read another review where there was no room for a toiletry bag, but in our room, the bench was quite long). The shower was above the bath and the water pressure/shower head was great. Didn't have to run around trying to get wet, or try to avoid the spikiness like some. Walls of the bathroom were quite thick, concrete? We had no trouble with any noise at all...I did expect traffic being near the front but didn't hear a thing except hubby snoring. The rooms are very secure and you enter through reception then into a lovely green courtyard type thing, before going into each room. Car parking was at each side of the building. Over the road in an arcade, there is a takeaway shop, a hairdresser, a wine bar, an IGA and a great place called the Geocery Bar where you can get a delicious breakfast (although at Albert Heights, it is certainly well equipped enough to bring your own ....but we decided to eat out). A short walk passed the Gardens and you are into the city. Very handy spot for the football/tennis etc. Reception was very helpful and friendly when we booked in, and the change of staff in the morning was just as friendly. Would certainly stay again.

I booked through Agoda, for a very good price, and turned up after a 3-hour train trip only to find it abandoned. They had a sign directing to ‘Birches Serviced Apartments’ sounding as if any booking would be honoured there, but this was not the case. I was So grateful to be in Melbourne to meet with friends else I literally would have had to traipse the city till I found somewhere else or just jump a train home again.

Have tried calling numbers they provided and sent an email asking for a refund immediately. Fingers crossed I will hear from them soon.
Have never had trouble with booking through Agoda before.

For $279 per night, it is a good location, but the room and service is appalling.
They didn't get the sofa ready as we for this several times.
Hard to understand, was too happy for us to depart.
The rooms require a very, very thorough cleaning.
The floors, bathroom, shower, everything basically was disgusting and dirty.
Blankets were thrown over railings and sheets and other things were left out to the weather.
Our room didn't even have a toilet roll holder....
Been there before, different owners and was great, this time, shall I say we will never stay there again!!!!
Also the photos on line are very decieving.

We booked online through a third party site Expedia. Booking went through no problem. However when we went to the address there was no one present at the hotel and the doors were shut with phone numbers stuck on signage all over the doors. Tried three different numbers, got two security companies and one other service in opposition. This hotel is not longer operating, however they are still taking your money through third party booking sites. DO NOT BOOK HERE. We were caught. Trying to get a refund.

This place is a scam. The building is abandoned and the business is closed. Yet they will still take your money and provide the biggest obstacle course for you to retrieve it back. If you have paid these scums any money be sure to contact Consumer Affairs. This is not acceptable.

This is what we submitted in our review to Albert Heights:

1. We had a couple of "under 4s" with us - this place is definitely NOT child/family safe (unprotected stairs everywhere) let alone providing wheel chair access.
2. Apartments are not "family oriented" - if we were without our kids, it would still only be average at best, assuming we used it to sleep and nothing else.
3. Strong features are the high quality and assistance of the front desk staff and proximity to CBD.
4. We do not consider that we got value for money despite this being Grand Prix week. $AUS335 per night was over the top versus the facilities we could have got much closer to the circuit and other attractions.
5. We must conclude that the photos on the website do not reflect reality. We made our decision to stay here largely based on these and whilst we understand that the "marketing department" have a job to do, this bordered on illegal 'bait advertising'.
6. In summary, we were disappointed. We had friends staying in St Kilda that had much better facilities for less money. Our advice - retain your front desk staff and if complete refurbishment is not an option, reduce your event-driven pricing and make a decision on whether you want to chase families or adults (the current setup does not cater for both)

A friend and I were staying a Saturday night after a workshop in Melbourne. I had been looking at many different places but what made me book this place was simply because of the receptionist, Hazel. From the moment I spoke to her and inquired about the apartments, I felt an incredibly friendly and personalized service. She was genuinely very keen in helping, answering my questions and she just appeared so friendly. Thus, I did not hesitate to go ahead with my booking, even the area was far from where we were attending the workshop. I was looking forward to meet this lady, who had been so friendly and as we were running late, we got a call from Hazel to check if we needed assistance to find the place ..... which we did!!!! When we arrived at the apartment, she went out her way to help us with transport the following day, where to eat in the evening and where to do some light groceries. I noticed that she was as friendly and helpful to all other guests coming and going while she assisted us. The place itself is an older style accommodation but very clean and it had everything we needed in the apartment. However, the asset of this place was without doubt the outstanding service of this amazing lady, Hazel. If every place had a receptionist like this lady, more people would have an unforgettable experience, being treated and greeted with such respect and friendliness. Thank you so much.

We stayed here for 2 nights to watch an event at the MCG. The location is great, close to the MCG and only a 30 minute walk into the CBD (if you enjoy walking). The rooms were large enough and had separate kitchen and lounge areas. No issues with hot water and hairdryer etc were provided.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, we were assisted with a late check in after our flight was changed.
I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would stay here again. It's affordability means you can spend your money on the attractions in Melbourne.
Also, thanks to James for putting on the reverse cycle to warm out apartment!!

There is and it is not under cover so there are not height restrictions. The bad news is that there are limited spaces and it is a 'first in first served' arrangement. If you get a park, you may want to not give it up and use public transport while you are staying there, it is about 100m to a tram stop.

It is much cheaper to book directly with the apartment. When I made the booking, it is based on room. There's 3 of us (all adult) and no extra charges incurred. I went there in May 2016. The apt that I got was 2 bedroom apt which consist of 2 rooms (one with queen size bed) and the other room (sofa set which can be converted to a bed and a long chair). For superior room, you will have 1 bedroom with queen bed and a sofa in the living room area. I think it is also a convertible. This apt is very well centralised to Camberwell Mkt, Fitzroy (within walking distance - abt 10mins walk) and to Town or Queen Victoria Market.
