Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked and paid in full online through getaroom.com. However, when we arrived on 11 December 2021 there was a notice on the front door informing us that the hotel is closed indefinitely. We were lucky to find other accommodation as Melbourne was exceptionally busy (with post Covid tourists and the annual Marathon etc). Turns out getaroom.com has to be phoned in America for queries. Surely this is a scam if ever there was one? Most unhappy.

We booked online through a third party site Expedia. Booking went through no problem. However when we went to the address there was no one present at the hotel and the doors were shut with phone numbers stuck on signage all over the doors. Tried three different numbers, got two security companies and one other service in opposition. This hotel is not longer operating, however they are still taking your money through third party booking sites. DO NOT BOOK HERE. We were caught. Trying to get a refund.

This place is a scam. The building is abandoned and the business is closed. Yet they will still take your money and provide the biggest obstacle course for you to retrieve it back. If you have paid these scums any money be sure to contact Consumer Affairs. This is not acceptable.

I booked through Agoda, for a very good price, and turned up after a 3-hour train trip only to find it abandoned. They had a sign directing to ‘Birches Serviced Apartments’ sounding as if any booking would be honoured there, but this was not the case. I was So grateful to be in Melbourne to meet with friends else I literally would have had to traipse the city till I found somewhere else or just jump a train home again. Have tried calling numbers they provided and sent an email asking for a refund immediately. Fingers crossed I will hear from them soon. Have never had trouble with booking through Agoda before.

For $279 per night, it is a good location, but the room and service is appalling. They didn't get the sofa ready as we for this several times. Hard to understand, was too happy for us to depart. The rooms require a very, very thorough cleaning. The floors, bathroom, shower, everything basically was disgusting and dirty. Blankets were thrown over railings and sheets and other things were left out to the weather. Our room didn't even have a toilet roll holder.... Been there before, different owners and was great, this time, shall I say we will never stay there again!!!! Also the photos on line are very decieving.

Only stayed here for one night recently as one in Melbourne for work. It was close to the office and clean and comfortable but is seriously dated. There was a strange smell in the kitchen. Location was good, staff pretty friendly but hard to find when needed. Across the road there is a complex with a supermarket and fish and chip shop so if you need supplies or takeaway its on your doorstep. Also close to the tram line for links to CBD. Has okish wifi but the TV in my room only had 4 channels. Not sure I would stay again.

If you cannot afford to stay in the Melbourne CBD, then Albert Heights Apartments is an option for the budget traveler. We stayed in the Family room & was promised at least one double bed, but it turned out to be all single beds but a bonus is your own kitchen. These apartments are a short tram ride from the CBD. The closest Tram Stop is located a few minutes walk away, as is Smith Street Collingwood which has plenty of boozers & restaurants. If you Fancy a taste of "Little Saigon" Richmond with all it's Vietnamese Restaurants is but a few stops away on the Tram. The MCG is roughly a 10-15 minute walk away. There are a couple of hospitals nearby as well. All in all budget digs close enough to CBD, MCG, Hospitals & restaurants There was a problem with check in, advised reception that we would arrive at 11.00am & was told "no problem", but wasn't allowed to check in till nearly 3pm.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the apartment very comfortable. It is a 2 minute walk to a tram stop and a short tram ride to the city. You have a kitchen if needed and there is an IGA Supermarket just across the road. Park your car for free, catch a tram and have a great stay.

I stayed 5 nights due to my partner being in the hospital. The hospital was approx. 3 minute walk from Albert. Saved lots of $$ since Albert had free parking. Also, Anita at front desk was so helpful and friendly. A big thank you to Anita for taking care us during our extended stay.

needing an upgrade, certainly NOT 4 stars, at best 3 possibly only just. Way over priced. Their advertising is somewhat overstated as they indicate a large double bed, this is misleading and should show bedding as simply "queen" sized bedding. They are also very "relaxed" about room availability times, as we asked for a 1pm arrival, but they had it recorded as between 2-3PM...just not impressed at all.
