We just had a 3 night stay here in a 1 bedroom superior suite city view room. We’ve travelled to Melbourne over a dozen times and generally choose different places to stay each time however this place was so awesome for service, room quality and location we will be back. Our room was on the 9th floor with a balcony and nice river and city view. The hotel is just set back enough from Southbank promenade that it is surprisingly very quiet and we were there on a Friday and Saturday night, a very short walk to restaurants, casino and the sporting precinct just a 20 minute walk away. The service from the front reception staff was fantastic, everyone we encountered was super friendly and happy for a chat they really made our visit special. The indoor pool and spa looked awesome although unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to use. Daily breakfast had a good range, especially loved the smashed avo option and getting a barista coffee made all included. Cleaning staff also did a great job, room quality very good although probably could ditch the very wobbly bedside lamps that just take up room and have had their use by date.

Pros: - Location: (Walking) Southbank Promenade (3mins), Skydeck (4mins), National Gallery of Victoria (6mins), Federation Square (7mins), Royal Botanic Gardens (18mins). - Bathroom amenities: Liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental kit, vanity kit, shower cap, issues, hairdryer (2000w). - Complimentary water provided on the first day. - Spacious room, comfortable bed and pillows, modern appliances.
Cons: - In-room WiFi extremely slow for 2024, averaging 10Mbps, with no signal reaching the bedroom. - Impractical design: power points difficult to access near beds and table/work area, only a rain shower head (no handheld option), no toilet brush, shower gel and shampoo dispensers located outside the immediate shower area requiring you to step out to use them, very small TV with no HDMI access, windows that don’t seal properly allowing cold air in, loud air conditioning, and dim lighting in the main room. No shelf in the shower to put your toiletries. In-room safe is not pin-based, instead an outdated system requiring a credit card (or similar) swipe. This is highly unsafe in an age where skimming personal details off magnetic strips is common. - The designer toiletries, crockery, and chopping boards shown on the website are not provided in the room. Instead, you get generic, lower-quality items.

What we liked: - View from the apartment of Flinders Street Station and Yarra river was great! - Accor Platinum benefits of breakfast and welcome drinks were honoured. - Loved that coffee was made on the spot by a barista for breakfast and not the typical coffee machine you find at hotels
Overall a good stay but I just have a feedback on the room cards:
- To access the rooms, we were given 2 sets of access cards. Basically, the hotel could only give each apartment 2 cards (to access the lobby doors and lifts) for security reasons. While i appreciate the intention, I don’t understand how does restricting guests to only 2 sets of keys help with security. For context, we booked a 3 bedroom apartment where one could easily expect 6 guests. Having only 2 sets of keys for 6 guests was just inconvenient and an uncommon practice.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment for 3 nights. We arrived well ahead of check in time, but they allowed us to park our car, and they said they'd call us when our room was ready. We never hold out much hope that hotels will actually follow through on this promise, but we were pleasantly surprised when they called to let us know our room was ready! I later witnessed a person on reception take a call from some guests that were going to arrive early, and then the receptionist call through to housekeeping to make their room a priority. I was very impressed! We found all staff to be very friendly, helpful, and professional. We were also impressed that they were following Covid rules which required guests to book time slots for the pool and gym. This meant that there tended to only be 2 families in the pool area which kept it very civilised (we recently stayed at Crown Towers where the pool seemed overcrowded with families throwing frisbees across the pool, and dive-bombing into the pool making for a very unpleasant experience!). The room was MASSIVE!! A very large, open kitchen/dining/living area with sensational view across the Yarra and city. Each of our 3 bedrooms had King sized beds, and there were 2 bathrooms. The biggest downside of the room was that the bathrooms needed a few more lights plus an exhaust fan. We also found it strange that in all of the cupboard space (and there was a LOT!), there wasn't any shelves or drawers (the only drawers were in the bedside tables). The room was clean overall, but it was evident under the lounge and kitchen bench, and on the kitchen drawers and cupboard doors, that it needed a really thorough clean. Soundproofing in the building was excellent, as we didn't hear noise from other guests. Other reviews have said the rooms are dated, and we did find them to be a little dated, but nothing that would put us off staying again. The location, size of room, and service we received would have us happily stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a family, business, or friends getaway in Melbourne city.

We recently stayed at Quay West Suites Melbourne and wanted to give a shout out to the staff there - particularly the manager Steven who went above and beyond to give our family a great price on an amazing room. Due to an oversight with a double booking, we ended up getting this gorgeous 3 bdr sub-penthouse suite with breakfast and carparking for less than the price of a lower floor, 2bdr room. The manager was exceptionally kind and gracious about it all and made our stay affordable and very special. The kids didn't want to leave! The rooms are well maintained, modern and spacious and the beds are soft and comfortable. We loved our apartment with it's amazing views, tvs in all the bedrooms and spa bath. We felt very spoilt and would definitely stay there again. Thank you Quay West Suites for making our stay in Melbourne so wonderful!

We had an overnight stay at the Quay West Suites and were surprised by how dated and run down it was, considering the cost of over $500 for a night and the other reviews online. We have stayed at almost every other 5 star hotel in Melbourne and found Quay West very disappointing in comparison. The rooms were really dated and we were placed in a room with broken air conditioning on a 36 degree day and the room was sitting at 26 degrees when we arrived. We were moved to another room with working aircon after complaining. Furniture was scuffed, cabinetry was broken with exposed hinges and it definitely did not have the look and feel of a five star hotel. The coffee machine had little pieces of glue in the tank which floated in the coffee, despite trying to clean it out many times. The breakfast was okay but pretty scant in comparison to other equivalent hotels like Le Meridien or the Novotel. The location is excellent, right in Southbank and well positioned for public transport and the arts centre district. Staff were helpful and polite.

I enjoyed five nights in a wonderfully spacious apartment with fabulous views of the Yarra, Flinders Street Station, Princes Bridge and Melbourne skylines. The city night lights were stunning. It was very hard to leave! Great location with easy access to lots of sights and cultural experiences as well as shops, eateries and public transport. Communication beforehand was good, including about a booking I’d had to cancel during lockdown the year before. I was able to pay for parking just the once rather than day-by-day. The apartment was serviced every day but some days some things weren’t replenished. Upon arriving back after sightseeing on the second evening I found the dishwasher was still running (I hadn’t used it, the cleaner had put the few things I hadn’t yet washed up into it). After this happened again, I raised the issue and it was fixed – apparently there was broken glass in the bottom blocking the drainage. However, whoever fixed it took it upon themselves to also empty the fridge for defrosting, and then return the items after who knows how long. He left a note saying defrosting was “desperately” needed (although I hadn’t noticed any problems with its working). I wasn’t happy about this as I was on a road trip and had perishable items stored in the fridge. The staff member on reception agreed I should’ve been consulted first. As I was leaving the following day I felt sure it could’ve waited! The apartment was well-designed other than the bathroom where the toilet was awkwardly placed behind the door, the sink jutted out so much it was hard to get close enough to the mirror, and there were only two towel racks (shower glass went right to the ceiling so the top of the glass couldn’t be used). There was no toilet brush (which every bathroom should have!). I would’ve appreciated instructions for the coffee machine – they are all a bit different. Overall the advantages much outweighed the issues, and I hope to stay again in future.

We just returned from 3 nights at Quay West Suites, we also had other family members staying here as we were all attending a family wedding. We had booked a studio room and were upgraded to a 1 bedroom apartment on the 12th floor which was nice and gave us a little more space. There was a view from the side towards the Yarra River and city. The room was well appointed with everything needed, although we did find the bed and pillows a little hard (personal opinion only). The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful whenever we spoke with them from check-in, arranging taxis for our whole family to the wedding and check-out. The location is fantastic right on Southbank and very easy walking to everything from shops to restaurants. The only issue we encountered was we booked a ‘Bed & Breakfast’ rate which included the buffet breakfast at Jarrah restaurant each day, however our name/room number was never on the breakfast print out and I had to show them my email confirmation indicating breakfast included and the staff then had to phone reception. It is only a minor thing but something Accor should rectify in their system. It’s an excellent place to stay and I highly recommend.

This was an amazing apartment in the perfect location. we stayed here for 5 days over Christmas. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, quiet with a stunning view of the river. The location is close to everything you want for food, drinks, tourist trips, shopping and entertainment. All staff were outstanding and so welcoming and NOTHING is too much trouble. A big shout to James in reception. These suites are of a mixed occupancy and every resident we met in the lift or corridors was also extremely welcoming. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Well done guys what a stay!

We booked a 3 bedroom apartment for three nights for five friends on a shopping/socialising weekend in Melbourne. We were allocated an apartment on the 26th floor with stunning views of the city. It featured a kitchen, laundry, spacious living area and multiple balconies. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was clean. The staff at the front desk were all wonderful, with Stephen and Natalie our main contacts. Stephen gave us great tips of things to see and do during our trip to the Yarra Valley.
Quay West is conveniently located in walking distance of CBD shops, close to Flinders St train station and an easy walk to the tennis stadiums. Restaurants and shops are literally metres away. This is a great place to stay and I'm glad I've booked a room in January 2023 during the Australian Open.
