So here’s my latest hotel windup of the MANTRA Southbank Melbourne.
The mantra team Southbank is really making every effort to ensure your stay is comfortable and hassle free. This is a lovely place with a beautifully decorated apartment. 👍🏼the cooking facilities really come In handy I had a couple of left overs that just needed some chips and reheating but saved on ordering 🍕in! Bonus.
The location for any of the arts or even to see anything in Melbourne is ideal. Pretty much stroll to anything or catch a free tram 🚉from the flinders street.
There’s lots of 10 min parking out the front on city road or down fanning st adjacent to the hotel or you can just drive down the parking entry and then park 🚘and go up to reception. Very very easy don’t stress. Parking charge $30 💸 which is about what you’d expect to pay but your car is safe and accessible easy as from your room.
Let me say the mantra staff also know how to look after Accor members so many thanks.
The room was exceptionally clean with an amazing view and beautifully decked out I felt so relaxed with quality sofa and beds. Mantra have really done a great job with the rooms so please look after them other people use them after your stay.
Finally a shout out to Elena and Nikola on reception... Nikola was very helpful with directions as I was driving into Melbourne and was lovely to have a chat with Elena about our European adventures. Also a thumbs up to Raji for her hard work on the rooms. Apologies to the other team members I met all who were lovely but missed your names.
If you need anything in your room or whatever just ring reception they will help you out it’s not hard people.

We chose to stay at Mantra Southbank when in Melbourne to attend a show at the Arts Centre, just nearby, and another at Regent, in easy walking distance. Also close to the Southbank area and in walking distance to South Wharf DFO. Very happy with our accommodation, took advantage of the pool on a 43 degree day in Melbourne and we enjoyed a couple of meals in the restaurant. We made use of the Friday pizza deal before heading to the theatre, had friends join us for the following evening before the theatre and we took up the steak offer. We also had one breakfast there too. No complaints at all.

Our 1 bedroom apartment was as expected and sofa bed made up as requested. The only problem with this unit was the shower and it’s REALLY bad letting the entire property down. A new bath has been installed with the shower over however NO headroom for anyone taller than 5’8”.
We weren’t entirely sure how well the room had been cleaned as complimentary items for a previous guest were still in the room. Linens could be updated but bed and pillows were comfortable.
Do NOT bother with breakfast - it was rubbish with overcooked powdered scrambled eggs and dried out fruit and yoghurt. With so many great food options nearby, go out.
We had an evacuation during our stay and communication from staff to guests was non-existent. There are so many choices in Melbourne. This property was OK.

Dear Tez823, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay. We truly appreciate receiving constructive feedback from our guests. Unfortunately the fire alarms were activated and the fire brigade evacuated the building to allow for guest safety while they investigated. I can understand that this situation is enormous inconvenience and we appreciated our guests understanding while our team worked with the fire department to allow for reoccupation. Thank you again for your feedback and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Kind Regards Colin Stevenson

We booked an apartment for long weekend and the accommodation was very nice. The room was well appointed and clean, nice toiletries items provided but the water pressure was terrible in the bathroom. The shower and sink was just a little above a dribble yet the kitchen had really good water pressure. Clearly they use it to save money.

Positioned on a very busy section of City road, not appropriate for families with young children if you plan to explore on foot.
Entrance lobby was in poor condition, walls scratched and the space in need of a good clean.
Our lift keys had to be recut and receptionist advised “this lift often doesn’t work”.
Room was very dirty - soft furnishings were grubby and stained, tables had dirty water marks as if wiped with a dirty rag. Light switches and surfaces were sticky. Bathroom vanity was heavily dented and scratched, doors didn’t close and shower seals mouldy.
The hallway of our floor (level 11) had a strong and unpleasant curry cooking smell.
A cot was set up for our baby, however was covered in dust, was stained and rusty in the corners. It did not have a mattress and housekeeping had simply left a folded sheet on the base. We brought this to the attention of staff and they advised “there is nothing we can do”.
We checked out within 3 hours of arriving and found suitable, clean accomodation elsewhere in Southbank, paying a fraction more however the difference in standard was remarkable.
Regardless of our concerns and deciding the best option was to leave (as we had nowhere for our baby to sleep with what was provided!) the hotel still charged us a full nights accomodation.
Also worth noting that it appears long term tenants rent apartments in this building, and this may be a reason the common areas are in such poor condition.

My wife and I have just returned from spending 2 nights at the Mantra Southbank Melbourne. This was our first visit as Mantra loyalty members and the staff were terrific. A special mention to Samuel who took care of our needs.
Our one bedroom apartment was located on the twelfth floor overlooking the Melbourne Art Centre.
We caught a train in and out of Flinders Street station to get there from country Victoria which was only 6 minutes away located on City Road, across the road from the Herald Sun building. The eateries on Southbank riverside is a 5 minute walk.
The room was quite spacious for a one bedroom apartment. It was clean throughout and we were impressed with the comfortable king bed. The kitchen contains cutlery but cooking pots and pans are only available on request. The bathroom is a bath/shower combination. The loungeroom is comfortable. As we Victorians were again required to wear masks indoors, the pool area located on floor 18 must be booked for a period of no more than 45 minutes and you meet reception staff to be taken up there. We didn't have the opportunity to use it. Because of Covid restrictions, their restaurant was also closed but as I said, eateries are only a short distance away,
Overall we were impressed with this facility and will definitely return.

Overall, our experience at your hotel has been extremely disappointing and extremely expensive given the quality of the room provided to us for our stay along with the additional expense of a bond being required.
The room required us to request a bedside table lamp along with a stool for the table in the lounge area. It was extremely noisey, whether that was from your air conditioning ducts? We heard a constant hum throughout the night. The bathroom is well overdue for an update with the shower in the bath creating a safety hazard with the tap protruding from the wall and the towel rail falling off the wall.
For the money, we will not be staying at the Mantra Southbank again and will stay at the Langham instead which was the same price with no bond required.

I have to say the staff did the best with what they had and tried to support positively with everything the premises didn’t deliver. I believe they are used to offering discounts, free breakfasts to try and make up for the sites many defaults.
We arrived at our agreed time window and our room wasn’t available, hence we were offered free breakfasts for one day to cover the delay.
The 2 bedroom 2 bathroom self contained (kind of - not many tools) unit was out of date with cracked tiles and antiquated TV technology which required us to buy a HDMI cable (none available on site) to be able to stream Netflix and the like through our laptop (grad we took it as the mobile and tablets were no use) . Our balcony was non existent (you’d srape your knees on the wall if you tried to sit down out there.).
The apartment lift foyer had a funky smell complimented by taped carpet, holding it together coupled with multiples ripples, providing a trip hazzard and memorable experience when entering or exiting our apartment.
The pool was unheated (low temp no doubt to save money) and only available for 2 of our 5 days which was better than the sauna that was unavailable the whole time. The stairs to the pool area had a railing that fell away during use, another hazzard, and one of our crew was hurt by this as they relied upon the handrail for support.
For the price of $593 per night (room only) we rightly expected a little more.
This is a bad / classic example of facilities management (cost savings) destroying customer satisfaction and thereby customer experience.
Again the staff were great in a very challenging / over rated environment.

We selected the premier 1 bedroom appartment as it said it was accommodating for up to 4 people. We had 2 adults and 2 small kids. It had a king bed & a fold out sofa which was good for the older child but not for a baby so had to sleep the baby in the king bed with us.
Fully equipped kitchen but once the fold out couch was in use there was no where for all of us to sit and eat so had to sit on the floor. Had a bath but plug was to big so had to use a face washer as a plug.
Would stay here again based on the location as it is a short walk to fed square, Yarra river, sea life & restaurants

Couldn’t pre book but was able to get a spot (@ a cost) no problems
Our balcony had an ashtray on it, which implies that it is.
Yes as part of a package you can add it on, we booked two spaces for an additional $30? Car parking is tight but somewhat convenient if you are staying and need to keep your car nearby. Car parking is on level G & 1
Hi
Just sachets of not terribly coffee !
Take your machine !
Check your pillows when you arrive - we found them very firm and very high. Apparently you can request different types!

hi there
you would most likely only see parts of it as you are one street back from the river so you will have buildings in the way towards the Yarra River. the highest floor is level 13 for the hotel part so not high. we had a the arts centre view room which was great but not sure if fireworks will be in that direction.
