Great location, close to the city, major attractions, cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself needs maintenance specially the rooms, the breakfast service felt like a mess, lack of attention from the staff, food wasn't good so I wouldn't recommend to add breakfast buffet to the room but as an accommodation only if you like close to the city it is a good option still

We stayed 3 nights in the ‘King Suite’. Look, on a positive note this hotel is in a great location, it’s clean and well looked after. Harry’s bar was nice and had a great musician singing and playing guitar while we were there. The bed was ‘OK’ and we had robes and slippers. Now I’m running out of nice things to say so here are some of the things that weren’t great. The first thing that came as a surprise was that they ask for a $100 a day incidentals bond - so we had to fork out an unexpected $300 to be held until we left. When we did pay the bill, we were charged a $12.60 credit card surcharge. We questioned this as we paid by debit card so the receptionist reached under the desk, pulled out a sign and put it on the counter which explained all the various surcharges. It’s old, so you get an awkward stand-in-the-bath shower and no power point near the bed to charge your phone. We had no matching cutlery in the room and when we asked for a couple of ‘nice’ wine glasses to replace the chunky things in the room we got a couple that were completely different to each other. On our first evening I phoned reception and told them we were having trouble with the heating and that the safe wasn’t working. The receptionist said she’d report it to the manager the following day - we didn’t hear a thing about it again - wasn’t fixed. We phoned room service to get some food on our second night - no answer so we called reception. They said they would walk over to room service straight away and get them to call us. 45 minutes later we got the call, but too late - we’d had to order in some Uber Eats. I spent about 40 minutes on our last morning walking around the hotel trying to get a couple of sachets of coffee as it hadn’t been replenished in our room. It’s a shame, but our experience was very poor and tainted our Melbourne theatre trip experience. Obviously won’t be back.

Booking as part of flight and accomodation package, did not disappoint. Was able to upgrade to two bedroom suite for a little more cost directly with the motel. Very convenient and quiet. Everything clean and room service efficient. furniture somewhat dated and could do with upgrade though. I did find reception hard to get through to. Had to call several times to get on to someone but was provided with good service when I did. Lack of front desk staff at times.

Whilst the room is very nice, we were unable to get the A/C to operate, tried calling reception, after several attempts, the call was answered. Explained the situation, informed that they would come to the room to look at the issue. 1 hour later, no one has arrived to fix, tried calling the Duty Manager, Reception and the Hotel via the outside phone number, no answer on any attempt.

The hotel is well positioned, one street away from Bourke Street which has regular trams and easy access to the shops. We were in a one-bedroom spa suite. Like the hotel itself, it is very dated and badly in need of renovation and updating. On the first night the hot water in the shower was only lukewarm. We told reception who said they would check it. The next couple of nights it was better, but never piping hot. On our last night and final morning it was lukewarm again. This is not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. The reception area is drab and unwelcoming, as is the "lounge" (you could barely call it that). The hotel takes up two towers, separated by a laneway. To get from reception to Harry's Bar and Restaurant you need to cross the laneway. That involved dodging the skateboarders going up and down at great speed with complete disregard for the hotel patrons walking in or crossing that lane. There was no attempt by the reception staff nor Harry's staff to send the skateboarders away. In all, our stay was not a particularly pleasant experience and we won't be back.

Was booked in for 2 nights for a business trip. Was given a room at the end of the floor overlooking the laneway which had other buildings looking into it so it was very dark and had to have curtains drawn all the time. Rooms need a refurbishment as they are outdated and feel empty. Hotel lobby is old and no character. This was once a vibrant hotel. Only stayed one night as it was too depressing.

Absolutely disgusting hotel. The worst I have stayed in Australia. They have absolutely unhelpful staff. Specially their front office manager by the name Witharna. Refuses to allow you to speak to anyone senior citing some internal policy. The hotel is unwilling to accommodate any requests. Their housekeeping sucks. They leave soiled beds under a neatly covered duvet! Pathetic. They dont have a weighing scale if you want to weigh your bags or youself for that matter The breakfast spread is quite ordinary. The tables and chairs are like a street side cafe. No way it can be classified as a five star property. All in all a terrible hotel. Stay anywhere else but at Stamford Plaza. The only plus is their location at collins street. However there are better properties around and unless this is the last hotel left on planet earth DONT STAY HERE.
