We were only there overnight, mainly to see Cats the Musical at the Regent Theatre. Next morning we were met by my cousin, who is a "walkabout guide" and she took us down to the Yarra(so impressive ) beautiful wide footpaths and gardens and all foot traffic. From there through 2 of Melbournes amazing lanes, full of little eateries and...

We stayed here for 3 nights during our visit to Melbourne. The hotel reception staff were friendly, room was comfortable, breakfast area was classy and the food was delicious, esp. with their nice egg station. We enjoyed our stay there. However, one downside is that the Housekeeping department always never picks up the phone, so you better pray that all...

Whenever I stay in the city of Melbourne, I always stay at this hotel. Quite simply, it's terrific! The staff are professional and ever accommodating. The rooms are well maintained and the location is excellent, sitting in the edge of Chinatown and walking distance to great restaurants and pubs. So good!

In a city chock full of hotels, it all comes down to value for money, location and the size of your budget. This property has a mix of refurbished and yet-to-be modernised rooms and suites. I took one of the un-modernised King rooms and despite an older-style air conditioner and some less than perfect fittings (e.g. Wonky wardrobe door) it...

Air conditioner in the room doesn't work. Bathroom looks like from the 80's. Very nice kitchen. Views to a wall. Poor breakfast buffet, no so much healthy options or variety and expensive. Coffee not included.

We stayed here recently for our wedding anniversary & also the Tennis. The Rydges staff had left us a bottle of bubbly & a box of chocolates. Not many hotels do that these days! The room was an apartment style room, huge, full cooking facilities, lounge, big fridge, comfy bed, 2 Tv's. The bathroom was also huge. They have been...

We booked a room and asked for a high floor. When we checked in they upgraded our room to a spa room on the 7th floor. Check in was fast as it was 1.30am in the morning when we arrived, however we weren't informed of the 3% surcharge by paying with American Express. The 7th floor didn't have much of...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
