I will prefix this review by stating that I stayed in the Mercure Welcome during hotel quarantine. So location and ammenities cannot be factored into my review as they were irrelevant. The room was tiny and clearly old. The bed was not comfortable, you could feel the springs in the mattress. On the plus side the food supplied was excellent and the service was good.

Staff Paula is so rude and not even helpful too. Their customer service is so poor. Also, this hotel is a quarantine jail. Dark rooms, no sunlight. Terrible foods, you will loose weight in 14days and foods from friends and relatives are not allowed. You will get nothing but anxiety and depression with them. Train your staff for a better customer service atleast.

If youre coming to Australia DONOT quarantine in Melbourne. Why: $3000 for 14 days 1.5 star 30 year old hotel Forbidden to get parcels or food from friends Forbidden to buy any alcohol from outside Must pay very high charges for food alcohol($7/can) and Laundry Unfriendly aggressive people running the quarantine Ugly rooms facing a wall. Poor support if struggling with mental health. No possibility of fresh air nor exercise

Reading several other recent experiences it seems that the frustrations of being in quarantine for 14 days have somehow clouded guests perception. Being in my last day I can only praise the hotel staff as well other support staff for their outstanding daily care and genuine approach. My room 1248 has pretty rewarding views, the room is tidy, functional and clean.....wifi is slow, but my Mobile phone was a logical fix. The Hotel Manager James and his team should be congratulated to enabling so many returning Australians to come out of quarantine without any harm. The food package has a good variety, seems mostly healthy and if you crave for something different go for room service or order via UberEats. Rooms are very sound proof, the hotel is nice and quiet and location is near perfect.....ok when locked away it doesn’t help....but after COVID this Hotel is simply a gem 💎 when you want CBD location, a basic but comfy room at sharp pricing. The first time ever I stayed in the same room for consecutive 14 days...a worthwhile experience, being able to learn more about myself. Ah, nearly forgot.....barrister coffees are worth every $......a real treat and look at things from a brighter angle......when do you ever get everything just delivered to your front door.....it doesn’t get any easier. Well done and a hugely big thank you for keeping me safe😎

We are here incarcerated for 2 weeks in this depressing shabby room. No daylight to see..grey wall put of room. Claustrophobic in every sense. Why use this monstrosity of a hotel when others around. Cheap for this purpose for the government no account for citizens.
