Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was the 2nd time I have stayed at the Atlantis in the last 3 years as I use it as a base for the Australian open. Super clean, spacious, fast lifts 24 hr front desk. This time when I checked into the room the air conditioner was faulty and would not stop blowing hot air. I called reception who were prompt to come to my room it couldn't be fixed and I was moved straight away to a new room. I honestly could not fault the Atlantis also the internet was fast. The only thing I would improve on are the coffee sachets as the coffee is horrible but that is only minor. I will definitely stay here again next year when the Australian Open is on

Hotel's Favourite
This property located on Spencer Street in Melbourne offers my wife and I all we need for a weekend stay in Melbourne. On arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff, unfortunately for this stay they weren't able to give us early check in, but they were happy to store our bags for us until check in was available. The rooms are basic, but spacious and tidy. Everything works and the bed was quite comfortable. The block out blinds are excellent, as is the fact that we couldn't hear a thing from our room which helped make sleeping pleasant. A few very small areas I think the hotel could try to improve, the sachet coffee they provide is very ordinary (and that's being nice), a f the water temp could be a bit hotter, don't get me wrong it was pleasant but I like a really hot shower especially during winter. The thing that ticked this property over from 4* to 5 for us though was the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff. When we asked for late check-out, the staff member was able to do this with a smile on her face

It does not say what is on the tin. Their internal WI FII is protected and prevent you to use any VPN system. Hence it is not a business hotel if you are in need to do some work within a protected environment. Continental breakfast…my bollox! Management must have a look in Europe to understand that definition of “Continental breakfast”. We pre-paid an extra to get a fake continental breakfast…. Additionally if you need to leave earlier than the opening hours, they dont provide any breakfast bag (and they definitely not refund the money!). We were on floor 16th surrounded by sky scrapers and we have been sold the fact that was a better view (yeah right, with the police skyscraper right in front of us!). Aussie urgently need to review their definition of “better view”… Even from floor 16th you could hear a lot of street noise! In summary…AVOID this hotel if you are not in a budget.

This is the third time I have stayed here but first time solo. Other times stayed with my daughter and twin beds, lower floor levels- had a lot to be desired. Found the room, bed, amenities fine. Was on level 14 so a great city view Some noise - busy Spencer Street Check in friendly and expedient

We booked this three Night and it was three nights too much. Location is good and room was like normally hotel room, but! Windows was dirty (never clened). We had room with view but you can still see only opposite house wall. Double bed was small and key stopped working second day and you had to queue reception again that you get your room.

Looks good on the exterior and the staff were helpful. However, the room was not the cleanest of rooms. Needed a good hoovering as remnants of long hair on the carpet. There was just a hole in the bathroom sink with no plug which emitted an unpleasant smell and no shower gel provided in the shower ... also one of the white towels was dirty - potentially a pooh/blood stain - certainly off-putting and no excuse. I will certainly make it known to staff on checking out after a one night stay. Other than that a good location very near to Southern Cross bus station and about a 20 minute walk from the Yarra river (uphill on return)

This hotel is the worst I have stayed at in my entire life. I have travelled so much and stayed in 10's of hotels. This is the worst one. The rooms are very small, the pictures are misleading. The place says it has parking and then when you get here they charge you $25/day They say breakfast included in the price and honestly if a child was to make me a sandwich I would have enjoyed it more than this experience. A hotel quality breakfast would include different types of eggs, pastries, meats like bacon and sausages, some dairy products like yoghurt and milks. Maybe some pancakes and waffles things like that. All this place provides is watery scrambled eggs, some toast and cereal. It's disgusting. Is it value for money no, absolutely not and if this is what is meant to represent Melbourne then this is the last time I go to Melbourne. HORRIBLE.

Stayed for 9 nights. Room on 15th floor. Room had view over Spencer St and was a decent size. Facilities included a small couch, coffee table, strange table serving as a desk, robe with adequate hangers, kettle, fridge, safe, iron & ironing board, hair dryer & TV. Very decent bathroom which was clean. Room serviced well daily. My room was at the end with only one neighbour and was perfectly quiet. Staff were great. Not sure how I’d rate the hotel itself in stars - let’s say 3 and a half but I was exceptionally pleased in that I paid a very low rate so the value was high. Location is excellent for transport. And I could get about the city and beyond on public transport quite easily even though I need a walking aid. Would absolutely stay again if I could get a similar price.

We booked a very cheap family holiday for 4 adults from the Gold Coast to Melbourne for 2 days via Jetstar (it only cost $1095 with all air fares and accom included). Amazingly the Jetstar flights left on time in both directions, so that was a good start. The package included 2 nights at the Atlantis in a mini apartment - 2 bedrooms, 1 with a Queen and the other with 2 singles. Shared bathroom, a fridge and coffee making facilities. Not a chair to be seen though. In summary, a good solution for a night or two if you just want somewhere to sleep. A bit pokey/claustrophobic if you intend to spend any time there. Details: Location 4/5 - in Spencer St opposite Spencer St Station and Police centre. 20-30or min walk to downtown (or catch the free tram/s). Staff 5/5 - very courteous and helpful. Noiseness 5/5 - no problems with noise from other guests or street. Cleanliness 5/5 - older place but was very clean. Beds 5/5 - no complaints. Pillows 3/5 - pretty rubbishy. Bathroom 3/5 - pokey but functional - no bath. Views 1/5 - None. Air Con 3/5 - Kept cutting in and out and couldn't alter the temperature. Not catastrophic.

Stayed last weekend and saw a show at the Arts Centre. 24 hour person on desk and even their own car park. I loved this place. It was so cheap. A great view and close to Southern Cross Station for an early (4am) walk to Skybus to connect to the airport. Loved the sunset light reflecting off buildings, Greta value. Thanks
