Batman's Hill On Collins garners mixed reviews, with its excellent location opposite Southern Cross Station being a highlight for guests who appreciate the convenience for transit and exploration around Melbourne. While some guests commend the stylish rooms and modern bathrooms, others are disappointed by the hotel's atmosphere, describing it as dated, and raise concerns about room cleanliness and maintenance. Noise levels are generally considered low, a welcome surprise in such a bustling area. However, the hotel's value is questioned by reviewers who criticize the high cost of services and meals.

The building has lovely heritage features and the staff are very friendly and efficient. The room is small, but on par with the rate that we paid, bathroom was the minimum size that it could be, but you can towel off in the room itself (the basin, vanity are located outside the bathroom in the room itself). The beds were very comfy, and there were plenty of power outlets - including a couple of USB outlets. The air con worked well as did the TV, the mini fridge was a nice bonus, although it didn't run very cold. The stay overall was good value for money - although next time I would upgrade to a higher floor or ask not to be in the wing as there was significant noise from outside.

Great location!! Lovely hotel and service! Honoured Platinum status in Accor.
Booked red hot rooms so didn’t expect any upgrades but was given a spacious room on the 2nd floor. I actually liked that the room was near the lifts as I heard no noise from that. There was some lovely chocolates in the room - complimentary from hotel. The breakfast was also complimentary w status. The breakfast had hot and cold food. The staff was mostly attentive, there was a period where no one manned the check in reception, I had to make a phone call to the hotel to get someone there. Although there was a phone in the room, there’s no information on which number to dial for assistance. Anyway, it is 8 to the reception n everything else. Housekeeping was dependant on the duty person, beds were always beautifully made but one of the days, they did not even change the wet face towel, nor cleared the waste bin.
The hotel was comfy and convenient to Southern Cross Station (spans a few streets!). You can leave your bags there till it’s time to depart.
I would stay again for a 3 star price point. I am sure it will improve and achieve its 4 star status in the future.

Pleasant welcome in this rather well located hotel.

However, there are a lot of steps and elevators: first to enter the hotel, then to access the reception located on the first floor, a few more steps to access the elevators which lead to the room. You cannot go directly from the upper floors to the ground floor, you must go through the 1st floor.

The room is clean and spacious but the view of the courtyard is eerie and the soundproofing is quite poor (you can hear a constant humming sound).

The bathroom is a good size but there is nothing to put your toiletry bag or spare items. So much so that the tissue box is actually placed on the toilet flush tank!

Breakfast is served in the basement (another staircase). The room is still bright thanks to a glass roof. Nothing to complain about for the buffet which is acceptable for the price.

The location of BHOC was amazing, right across from southern cross station with plenty of places to eat, drink and shop nearby as well as access within the free tram zone.

That's the only positive of this trip unfortunately. Upon check in the receptionist had written down the wrong door number, so I had to tow my child back to reception to find out the right door number. The room that we stayed in had 2x twin beds with a table between them, which is fine as we asked for it.
However the beds were on wheels and couldn't lock them and every time we were on one, it moved and moved. so we told reception who came and put towels underneath the wheels to stop them from moving. The other twin bed, the base was smaller than the mattress so the mattress itself was hanging off to the side the whole time which was uncomfortable. The room had a horrible smell, reception had come up with room spray to spray it but it only masked it, it was potentially coming from the small alcove where other bedding and ironing board was kept. Another issue was that the phone to reception wouldn't work, so I always had to use my own phone to call the main number to get out through to reception which was an annoying and timely thing. I certainly wouldn't be staying again

This hotel is very strategically located at the Melbourne CBD, right across the Southern Cross Station and next to tram lines, making it easy to go to various directions in Melbourne. It is also very easy to reach it from Melbourne airport, just about 10 minutes from the toll exit. Being in the CBD, we can find many restaurants, shopping centres, supermarkets, & offices within walking distance. I booked an apartment room with 1 big bed + 2 smaller ones and a kitchen. Surprisingly the apartment room is very spacious, and the kitchen is very well equipped with gas stove, complete cooking & eating utensils, big fridge, and wash basin. There's also couch, dining table & chairs, and work desk, as well as 2 wardrobes and racks to put all your clothes & other stuffs. The room facility is just exceptional. And, although the building is quite old, its equipment and cleanliness are still very well maintained. All in all, this is a very recommended hotel. Thanks !

Upon arrival I was greeted by the very friendly staff and was able to access my room early so I could leave my bag at the hotel while I went to meetings that day. The room was clean and had all the basics that I required. There was a hair dryer, small kettle, an iron and other things that one would need on a short stay. There were also plenty of power points for charging my devices and the internet connection was good. The only limitation was that the complimentary wifi was only 1GB so I went elsewhere during the day to work, even though there was a desk space in the room. The hotel had made efforts to encourage guests to be environmentally responsible. They had larger bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the shower instead of those little containers that are more plastic than product and are either too much or not enough for your stay. There was also a timer available in the shower which I thought was a good way to remind people to not waste water. Overall, I would recommend this hotel since it was so close to the train station and Sky Bus stop and there was a free tram practically at the door as well. There were plenty of convenience stores and cafes close by too.

hands on washbasin was provided. Suman at the counter said it’s hotel policy, however, he provided one as if doing a favor to us . Despite on double occupancy, only one set of towels were provided and even when asked for it was not supplied . No water jug was provided, Suman said they don’t provide water jugs and we should use kettle or drink from Bathroom tap .
Suman was very rude to us , and in my entire life this is first time that a counter person talked in such manner with ‘ I don’t care Attitude’ . When we asked for providing Bread / Croissant instead Milk and cereals in packed breakfast, he again said it’s not in hotel policy and when we told him we want that, he said we should talk to our agent. Very very rude . When asked to please connect to some senior, he bluntly refused said nobody is available. No cleaning was done on 5th November 23 . I am not going to recommend this hotel only and only because of Suman’s behavior towards us

I recently stayed at Batman hill and unfortunately, my experience was marred by several significant issues. Firstly, the plumbing in the hotel room was atrocious. Whenever someone from the neighboring room took a shower, the sound of water gushing through the pipes was so loud that it disrupted my sleep and made it difficult to relax. This lack of soundproofing and consideration for guests' comfort was extremely disappointing.Furthermore, upon returning to my room after housekeeping had supposedly cleaned it, I noticed stains on the bed sheets. It was clear that the cleanliness standards were not up to par, and it made me question the thoroughness of the cleaning process throughout the hotel. While the hotel may have other redeeming qualities, such as its convenient location or friendly staff, the issues with plumbing and cleanliness significantly detracted from my overall experience. I hope that management takes these concerns seriously and implements measures to improve the quality of stay for future guests.

During the first night of our stay, we encountered a situation where a flying insect was found in the room. We immediately contacted the reception for assistance, but unfortunately, the insect had disappeared under the beds by the time the staff arrived. The receptionist informed us that the room would be cleaned the next morning upon notifying the housekeeping team. However, due to our fear of insects (especially considering the large size of the insect we encountered), we expressed our dissatisfaction with this arrangement and requested a room change.

The receptionist promised to look into the matter and get back to us shortly. However, after waiting for an extended period without receiving any communication, we decided to contact the reception once again. To our disappointment, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and they couldn't assist us with a room change. Struggling to find a solution, we began searching for alternative accommodations nearby, as we couldn't bear the thought of staying in a room with the insect overnight. It was during this search that we discovered the hotel still had availability for booking on online travel platforms (OTAs).

Feeling frustrated and deceived, we called the reception again to express our dissatisfaction and question why they had provided us with false information. After a brief moment, a staff member from the reception came back to us and informed us that they could now arrange a new room for us, offering an upgrade during our stay.

While the issue was eventually resolved with the room change, we were deeply disappointed by the unfriendly attitude and lack of proactive solutions from the hotel staff. It seemed as though they did not consider an insect in the room to be a significant problem, or perhaps they were not attentive to our concerns. Additionally, we experienced other issues such as a foul odor from the drainage system and the room not being serviced despite placing the "make up room" sign in the morning.

If your room is ready you’ll be able to check In whe you arrive. If not, they’ll keep your bag. Make sure they put it in the bag storage room before you leave for your lunch or shopping.
