Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small room. Little room for luggage. Is newly decorated and tastefully done. The bathroom is separated from the bed by a glass wall and door. Not great if you're trying to get to sleep and someone is using the bathroom for a half-hour. Great front desk staff, especially the night clerk. Overall, though, it seemed more like a hotel for lovers out for an afternoon tryst than one for overnight stays.

Location on Lygon St with parking onsite are the main the wins. Decor is modern and beds are comfy however rooms are not soundproofed. Staff were warm and approachable but attention to detail was missed in every interaction. Tipping was expected but not pushed. Wine bar onsite and breakfast area handy to charge back to room. Love the instructions in bathroom to help identify what can be kept, borrowed, or purchased but they missed the mark by not including free water in the room. They also missed an opportunity to sell Who Gives a Crap toilet paper, hotel pillows, and mattress which people love about the rooms. Lastly, when considering the price point (which is aligned to other boutique hotel options in the city) Zagame is ideal for those wanting a non pretentious place to stay on Lygon St, those travelling with pets, or have a vehicle that they want to park easily and have near their room.

We really enjoyed our time at Zagames house. The staff are very inviting, friendly and super helpful. We were made to feel at home from check-in. The room was very comfortable and clean, and had everything we needed. There were a few books to read and a Marshall bluetooth speaker which was cool, There is a wine bar onsite which is quiet, great food and a nice ambience. The breakfast is so good! Handy location one block away from Lygon street restaurants, a short walk to either Brunswick street or the city. We had a small issue with working the TV and it was solved immediately! There is also onsite parking which is super-handy in that area. You really feel the staff care about you at Zagames House. We will certainly go back.

Everything was great! I wasn’t happy with the room I got initially and immediately they moved me to another room. The food was delicious too! Meat served in the restaurant is halal, which I thought was very considerate.

Why have I not heard of this gem? Love, love, loved staying here. First - the location is sensational. Walking distance to so many eateries on Lygon Street. Walk to the city centre in a few minutes. Also - don’t leave because the on-site cafe and the Lord Lygon wine bar are just so good!! Next, the room. If super comfy beds and pillows are your thing, you may not even want to leave the room. With tons of free movies to watch there may not be time to go anywhere! Now, the decor. This is place is funky and cool and a visual treat! Everywhere you look is filled with colour and fun! Lastly, the staff are energetic and caring and capable. Just so nice! I cannot fault this lovely place and will be back as soon as possible! Ps - it’s great value also!

My first visit to Melbourne was only enhanced by my stay at Zagame's House. I was there for work, and can't imagine a better, more comfortable, more convenient place to be. My room was great - the bed and bath were top-notch. The hotel amenities were superb. with a great lobby/lounge for meeting clients and friends. The food was incredible and I simply have never had better coffee anywhere in the world. Best of all, the hotel staff were - without fail - professional, helpful, responsive, and friendly. They all went above and beyond to make my stay a memorable one. Thank you all so much!

Our stay at Zagame’s House was extremely comfortable. All the staff were welcoming, considerate and helpful. This was our first visit since the refurbishment, and it didn’t disappoint. The rooms are very tastefully decorated well-appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Our room was very quiet which made for a good night’s sleep considering it was AFL Grand Final weekend. The breakfast was delicious! This property is so well located within walking distance to most places we visited. Just Park the car and enjoy the beautiful walks.

The staff at Zagame's were outstanding & made my elderly mother & I most welcome. They were attentive to our needs & can't be faulted. Rooms are modern, clean & very well appointed. The dining on offer in the cafe was fantastic. Location is great, being close to CBD, trams & restaurants along Lygon St. Highly recommend & will definitely stay here again.
