Detailed Reviews
We had a very comfortable night in a clean, spacious room. Perfectly located for our concert at the zoo. The following morning we left our car in the park and made our way to the city. Staff friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending the Quality hotel Carlton for someone who wants close proximity to the zoo. Easy tram ride to the city.
WiFi available which worked much better in the following morning when there were not so many people using it.

My 2 daughters (14 & 16) and I stayed here whilst my husband had emergency surgery at the RMH. The motel is only 5 minutes (car) from the hospital and is straight down the rd! Our room was comfortable and clean, and a relaxing place to come back too after a very stressful day. Free Wi-Fi was handy too. Very well priced when your budget is tight, great value for the money. We will be back (hopefully better circumstances!) Thankyou.

Large, clean room, a little dated but still very clean. Terrific location, very quiet, excellent value. Loved the king bed and big TV. Reception still attended at 6.15 pm but didn't have our room key ready. Will definitely return.

The star rating (and therefore room rates) for this hotel should be downgraded unless or until the renovations are completed. As other reviews state, there’s good and bad. The “good” is that my room was newly painted, new soft furnishings, clean bed linen and comfy new bed. The “bad” is in mid-winter In cold Melbourne, you can’t get away with having no hot water, or at best luke warm, despite running the tap for 10 minutes each morning of my 3 night stay. Further, there is no breakfast room (supposedly under renovation too). Also, attention to details such as removing rubbish, used bed linen etc from the passages and bins should be done promptly. The bathroom was probably “renovated” but tile grout and corners we’re still grubby, the towels were plentiful but old, yellowed and threadbare (chuck them and buy some fluffy new white or black ones). The coffee mugs still had the evaporated dregs of the previous user’s drink in them! Yuk. But boiling water in the kettle fixed that: but should I have been the one to do that? Overall it’s a disgrace to what it was 5 years ago when I stayed there. Not ever returning which is unfortunate because it is in a great location for university and city access, cafes, and recreational parks, and transport.

The staff were nice people but it takes a whole lot of niceness to make up for a hotel that is under construction. No facilities. Rooms had detritus from previous long term guests, including toiletries. We checked out straight away. They SHOULD NOT be accepting bookings!

Thanks to Chris,Courtney and the rest of the lovely team. I am not familiar with Melbourne, but everyone seemed more than happy to help me with all my questions, from where to eat to how to book an Uber! What a great bunch of people :)
My room was simple but nice and clean, great water pressure, and the bed was super comfy!
I will definitely stay at the Quality Hotel Carlton again, for work and for holidays. It's a great location for the zoo and easy to get into the city and to Lygon street for a good feed. Otherwise it's only a leisurely 10min walk to Sydney road where there is everything you need from supermarkets and coffee to chemists and macca's!
Compliments to the chef for my yummy scrambled eggs for breakfast :)
Thanks again!
Kris S :)

Every time I stay here with my partner we are welcomed with open arms. Greeted with a smile and always welcomed by first name.
Chris ans team make us feel like we are family. Nothing is a problem. There helpful information about local area attractions and recommendations of restaurants to try are great.
It's a home away from home for us.
We will always return when we receive such a warm welcome.
Although the Hotel is old and needs a bit of love and attention the staff make up for it.
The Bbq at the pool is a bonus feature.
A++++ to Chris and his team.

I inadvertently left my reading glasses and an exquisite little magnifying glass I always travel with (v handy for fine print!) on a shelf in the room when I checked out. Like the previous reviewer I notified them expecting them to be returned (happy to pay postage). Not this business. It was 'lost' for ever! I too thought it was inadequately investigated and am concerned that 'sticky fingers' are still employed there. Just warning you to look behind you when you leave your room!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are terribly sorry that your glasses were left behind and that we were unable to find them. We do take this matter very seriously and are currently investigating with housekeeping management on how a housekeeper could have discarded your items without noticing what they were. We do believe in the possibility of a honest mistake and doubt that someone with "sticky fingers" would find value in a pair of prescription glasses. It has however been made very clear to the team that if anything of the sort transpires again their employment would be terminated immediately as it is unacceptable that lost property is not recognised and brought to reception immediately for safe keeping.

Check in was of poor quality. 4 people on desk attending to one person & ingnore me for 10 minutes before i state is anyone able to check me in. Our room smelt like poo. Yes it smelt like a poo. Couldn’t see one but I had to keep door open. My family pulled off the doonas as both doonas were dirty with brown stains on something liquid or extra ment.
Not a welcoming environment.
Cheap & needs a freshen up.
It’s been a week and I still no received bond back yet.

I stayed here quite some time ago and meant to write a review, but now I have time. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Curtains falling off windows, shower door broken. Had to pay deposit that was more than the cost of the room.

Thanks Rebecca. Appreciate answering the question on behalf of the Vibe Team.
There is on site parking at $10.00 per night per car.
Hi, I arrived at hotel around 10am and I could have had a room on the ground floor but I declined as I was out all day and only wanted to drop my bag off. I would say no harm in asking.
Not sure if it is Queen sized bed, however we did not feel cramped.
