Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel was good. Room was great, hallways a bit dated but no big deal. They consumed a lot of my time about a double charge on the room and didn’t put any noticeable effort in to fix the mistake they made. I booked, paid through Qantas Hotels who then made the reservation on my behalf. Crown then charged me full rate for the room on my card on top of Qantas Hotels. They sent an invoice for my water I purchased but charged my card for a second time on my room without my knowledge, consent or without even sending an invoice. Each time we contacted them, they were too busy to investigate and fix their mistake. 6 days later, they fixed their mistake but am still to be refunded. I gave a low rating because their time was more important than my time when they made the mistake.

Hotel's Favourite
All of the staff members I encountered were great and accommodating. There was a problem with my TV apps, which was resolved immediately. My room overlooked the Yarra River near the bridge crossing. I had great views of the city's skyscrapers, heliport, and nightly fireworks displays. The public areas were clean. The beds were comfortable. If you are dining at Yugo for breakfast, make reservations on weekends. The Yugo breakfast buffet was the same each day and expensive. The restaurant limits the dining time on weekends. The elevator to the gym was broken, and there was a limited amount of equipment. However, the gym did offer free bottles of water. I used the city's free transportation system to explore areas around the city business district. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would stay at Crown in the future.

This is a great location to be in Melbourne! The hotel has amazing helpful staff! I love the comfortable bed and room. I love their water bottle policy to buy water bottles at the front desk and refill at their station! The breakfast buffet has lots of selections and is delicious… well worth it!!Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The room was large, with a massive window overlooking the pool. Bottled water was provided on the 1st day but not replenished. There was a water cooler in the reception area where we refilled our bottles. The handle on the bathroom door fell off and wasn't fixed for the period we were there, but we didn't report it as expected the maid would. It wasn't a problem as we could still open and close the door. Shampoo and conditioner provided in the shower. Bottle opener and coffee/tea provided, along with a fridge. The property is having work done, and it seems the entrance area is temporary. This means that you have to navigate an escalator from reception to the 1st floor where the lifts are to the rooms. This is somewhat tricky and dangerous with suitcases and hand luggage. We had dinner in the restaurant - Yugo, which was very nice and reasonable priced. Although we were disappointed two days later when we went to go again as they had a lamb rump on special, the restaurant had closed early as it wasn't busy. Overall, the hotel was nice, clean, and modern.

This was my first time booking through RACV. A really nice clean hotel with the most amazing views (windows the size of the wall) our room was on level one and we stayed for 5 nights. Each night we watched the flames being lit (The Gas Brigades) from our room, so beautiful, especially for your kids. They offer valet parking for $70 a day but we used the self parking option (approx a 3 min walk) at $17 per day, FOR ONE EXIT PER DAY just make sure you validate it each day at the front desk or you WILL get charged more. Plenty of staff that were quite helpful. 👍 The shower had fantastic water pressure and ‘very hot’ water. ****Please watch your children in the shower because if they are toddlers the tap can be easily put onto 🔥💦hot.***** Big pool for the kids with pool toys supplied. A couple of things they could improve on are not sending you emails to join their IHG. You can’t just turn up to breakfast you are required to book a time. Because we arrived late in the afternoon the next available breakfast time was at 9.45, a bit late for us. I did book all the breakfasts for each morning at the front desk which wasn’t passed onto the restaurant and therefore ended up with two lots of text messages each day to confirm our breakfast timings. A little annoying when you’re visiting sick relatives. I recommend the hotel and pool. Try not to book the inside rooms that over look the pool ask for a room with a view on the outside where you can see the Gas Brigades. Love Melbourne ❤️

My husband and I have just spent 3 nights at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room is very comfortable. Good toiletries, linen and a very comfortable bed. The TV is huge and we were able to cast videos from our iPads. The breakfast is pretty decent too. One of the best things is the location. There is a tram stop right outside the front and it is within the free tram zone so very easy to get around and back home. It is a short walk over the bridge to Southbank as well. Would easily choose to stay here again.

Before and after a cruise we stayed at the Crowne Plaza. For one night we had a standard room, a fine fit for 2 adults and an under 2 year old. The room was clean and well kept. The customer service was excellent. The only complaint would be we had requested a travel cot and confirmed this on the day, however it was not set up when we arrived in the room. After again requesting the travel cot it arrived and we weren’t very impressed with the type/quality, it was small and flimsy and I did not feel particularly comfortable using it. On our return we stayed in the suite, such lovely accommodation, so roomy. Again we were advised that a travel cot was in our room but it was not. We opted to use our own (we weren’t originally going to have this available but glad we did). We appreciated the complimentary water in the suite and the filtered water station near the lifts to the room, a great touch and I wish all hotels had this. Overall I cannot fault the rooms, cleanliness and customer service. It is the Crowne, so we definitely paid for what we received, this is not a particularly budget friendly option. I also note that I received a better price via the website than contacting directly which I thought was the wrong way around. I have put 4 stars only due to the travel cot issues, otherwise would have been 5. A bit of feedback, whilst there is construction it would be have been good to receive instructions on how to access the valet as the Apple map directions reflected the blocked off entrance and being from interstate, it took us a while to locate.
