Dorsett Melbourne garners praise for its immaculate and modern rooms, boasting amenities that ensure guest comfort, despite occasional lighting and maintenance gripes. The hotel's cleanliness is consistently commended, with travelers appreciating its pristine condition. Situated in a prime spot for urban adventures, it's a stone's throw from attractions and dining, enhancing its appeal. While the services and diverse amenities generally receive accolades, some visitors suggest the need for refinement, particularly in executive perks and housekeeping. Opinions on value are divided; guests appreciate the reasonable parking yet question the breakfast pricing and value of certain services.

Perfect eight night stay at The Dorsett. Chosen as the meeting place for myself from the UK, and my daughter from NZ. Room very comfortable, bed even more so. Breakfast was delicious; scrambled eggs were perfection. Staff welcoming and friendly. Shout out to George ... enjoy Christmas with mum 😍, and to Blair ... get out and walk 😊
Thank you to all

We had a 3 night stay, I liked the look and feel of the hotel it also smells amazing when you walk into reception and staff are extremely friendly and happy to help I feel as though the hotel may have been rushed to be finished and in places things aren’t finished. My experience is we arrived Thursday evening around dinner time restaurant was not open so had to go out on the search for dinner. The hotel is located in walking distance of most things and if you can’t walk to places tram or train station close by. Our room was nicely decorated but i would have loved another chair to sit in and relax being two of us and only one chair in the room one had to sit on the bed. The pillows are absolutely terrible as soon as you lay on them they are paper thin, the bed was comfortable and over all we slept well as it was very quiet. Buffet Breakfast was nice but not a big selection and if you would like a coffee made for you it is extra cost on top. We had dinner at the restaurant on Friday evening the pumpkin soup and arancini I would recommend very tasty and presented well. We also had the steak which was a bit of a let down really nothing special to rave about and the mixture of fries with veg is strange combo. I also like to be able to go in and out with out a fuss on holiday and found having to be greeting each time I went in and out of the hotel a bit over the top but some people may love all the attention. I would stay again and would recommend I think it will great once opened a little longer

Hotel staff all very helpful, polite and friendly.
On the day of our departure from the hotel, our flight to the UK was scheduled for 22.30.
The hotel allowed us to check out at 13.00, and store our luggage. We could also use the seating area near reception and the Gin Bar to wait in comfort until our taxi arrived. We had lunch and coffees in the Gin Bar. All this made our travel experience much more comfortable.
During our 3 night stay, the location of the hotel meant we were able to explore the city easily, and return to our room easily. The area nearby was always very busy, but we felt safe walking around.
The “night light” set low down under the fridge / clothes hanging unit was a great idea, as were the environmentally friendly non-plastic (wood?) door keys.
Good breakfast although choice of breakfast cereal, fresh fruit and cooked food limited. We’ve stayed in other hotels, such as Premier Inn, which are less comfortable but have a better breakfast.
Our lunch in the Gin Bar was ok, but could have been better. We had fish & chips, and although they were fine, there were no vegetables included, such as peas. Also the chips were covered in salt crystals which made me very thirsty.
I enjoyed using the pool, but the unisex shower / changing room was a surprise. I think a changing cubicle within the changing room should be provided.

Dear Andy, warm greetings from Dorsett Melbourne, and thank you for sharing your experience during your recent stay with us. I am thrilled to hear that you found our team to be friendly, polite, and helpful. I am also glad you appreciated the convenience of our location, which makes exploring the city and returning to your room effortless. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed thoughtful touches like the night light and our environmentally friendly wooden door keys, designed to enhance your stay. Your feedback on the breakfast variety, lunch experience at the Jin Bar, and the pool facilities is invaluable. We’re constantly working to improve, and your suggestions are important in guiding us. I will review our breakfast offerings with the Food and Beverage team to ensure more variety is available. Regarding your lunch experience, I appreciate your feedback on the fish and chips and will consider balancing our dishes better with sides and seasoning preferences. Regarding the unisex shower/changing facilities near the pool, providing a more private option such as a changing cubicle is an excellent suggestion, and we’ll explore ways to make this area more accommodating for all guests. Thank you again for your detailed review and hope to welcome you back soon and provide an even more enjoyable stay. Please feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can assist with. Location is good. Room generally comfortable but has many flaws. Basin tap is so high, water splashes all over when turned on. Shower screen is frosted glass but can see clear silhouette of person bathing. Also because it is transparent, room gets very bright when toilet lights turned on. Night light is very bright too. Room were very dusty. We had 3 separate bookings in between & stayed in 3 different rooms - turn on bedside reading lamp & see the amount of dust flying in all 3 rooms!. Bed & pillow were not comfortable. 2 of the rooms - when checked in found one bath shower cream tube missing & other one empty. Both times had to call reception but they came quickly to remedy. Despite entitled booking benefits, not all were given. Had to ask each time & were told it was subject to availability although were entitled. Lots of front office staff we encountered during 4 days stay but though generally friendly, not very warm nor helpful. Amazingly few staffs we asked, doesn't seem to know Melbourne places/directions well as they couldn't help us in enquiries. Breakfast is very very limited - not worth if paying full price but acceptable if paying special rate combined in room booking. Will not stay here again.

Poor check in experience. The staff (the short guy in suits) went blank face when I intended to check in and arrived with booking information. They didn’t send any sms or email when we book a room for 3 days and told us on arrival that the room wasn’t available until 3pm and when we supposed to check in at 11am. So we checked in late at 6pm that night after spent hours outside.

The room here was nice and comfortable, the only problem was the bathroom and room was only separated by a translucent glass and I need to ask my teenage won to look at his laptop while I bathe. The swimming pool was nice but there was problem with some of the guests there. Young couples tried to go into the same steam room in the same toilet when no one was there. A man almost walked in when I got changed in female bathroom, but soon two staff intervened. The change area of female toilet was right in the centre of the toilet, when other swimmers entered the ladies bathroom, the people outside can see us naked inside, it was so embarrassing.

Forget about the housekeeping here. They half cleaned our room, only the bed was done and no vaccuuming, didn’t clean the toilet or basin, didn’t wash the cups or change towels, so we ended up walking up to their carts to get some fresh towels. Didn’t empty the bin toilet as well. So if you book this hotel expect some self cleaning.

The only good thing about this place is the breakfast, affordable and delicious. The Asian Omelette man in the kitchen was busy making omelette or poach eggs for everyone and he deserved compliments cos we saw some ridiculous guests ordered omelette at 10:30, after the kitchen closed but he tried to accommodate them. Thump up for him!

This hotel was down a little laneway close to Southern Cross station which made it great for transport and was also close to shops and a grocery store. The furnishings and decor are beautiful. Rooms are well appointed and felt quite luxurious. However I will say that the bed was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. There also wasn't a top sheet which was a bit odd. I didn't seem to have any issues with water temperature and the shower was lovely.

Service from all staff (front desk, breakfast etc) was outstanding! Absolutely fantastic and no complaints there. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet too, especially the made to order eggs (included in the breakfast price).

I was very disappointed to find an empty can of alcohol in my room and shockingly, a box cutter! Clearly housekeeping did not do a thorough check and I was quite horrified. I only noticed them the next morning. I took photos and let reception know upon checkout - they were extremely concerned and apologetic and said they would pass it on to housekeeping.

I feel like as a new hotel, there are a few things they can improve on to smooth out the kinks. If I was in Melbourne again and they had a good price, I would stay here again and give it another chance.

Arrived this morning for a weeks stay here. Location is fantastic. Front desk seriously understaffed and check ins were lengthy. Gabriel (think that was his name) was very obliging and pleasant, storing our luggage from an early morning flight until check in. He then called us early to say a room was ready for us. Very appreciated. The room is very tasteful, however a few things seem a bit weird. Only one chair at the table so other half sits on the bed to snack/eat. Not a fan of the glass wall for the shower/bathroom. The lack of a set of drawers is a bit strange. When here for a week, it is nice to be able to unpack and not live out of your suitcase. It seems odd as there is definitely room to place a chest of drawers? The other big 👎 is the hard hard beds! The pillows are also a big letdown. So small and flat and again, hard.
The location still makes up for these negatives and overall the hotel is fresh, very clean and we even scored a complimentary taxi ride from Tullamarine to the hotel courtesy of Booking.com. We have yet to try the bistro and gym, pool.

I stayed 2 nights for business and it was the perfect location. Easy walk from Southern Cross railway station and Airport bus. It's new and located in a quiet location. I was in room 807 which is on the top floor of hotel but not building. The king bed was very comfortable, bathroom was lovely and well designed with toiletries supplied in refillable containers. I like this plastic reduction plus you can get discount for choosing not to have room made up each day. Again saving use of water and power etc. Handy powerpoints and phone charging points by bed, table and chairs for work and a great iron and ironing board. It also had a small fridge, kettle and coffee machine with pods supplied. A large Coles shopping centre is nearby on Spencer St. I had breakfast each morning in their dining room which had a good variety of hot and cold options. It comes with a gym and pool but I didnt use those facilities so I havent included in review. I highly recommend this hotel for location, cleanliness, and thoughtful practical design of room. I'd definitely stay there again

What a beautiful new hotel! The staff are lovely- we got upgraded on check in and did not ask- the lovely Fena looked after us. We have stayed in many Melbourne hotels and this is by far the quietest we’ve encountered. Quiet streets, excellent soundproofing from the other rooms and outside- the only sound we heard was a shower running.
The beds are comfortable and the curtains dark enough for a good sleep in. Toothbrushes are a rare complementary item and are an added bonus.
The pool isn’t deep enough for a dive but adequate for laps and cooling down (it is heated but is not hot).
