Our second stay at the Oakwood. It's still a beautiful hotel with tastefully appointed suites however there were some areas that had dropped in standard.
* Hotel is modern and located within walking distance of all main CBD sites-MCG, Crown, etc. Catch the 109 tram to go straight to the city. * On reception, we were sent to the wrong room twice. This was more amusing then annoying but would be an issue if it was late at night, we were elderly on in a hurry as we had to come all the way down again twice, and it was strange that staff seemed confused. * It seemed like there were less staff on the ground then our last stay and they could be more proactive in being friendly and helpful. Food was left in the floor walkways for the whole day and there was a lack of acknowledgement from most staff which is disappointing when paying an average of $350 per night. * The suites remain beautiful and superbly appointed. This would definitely be a great place to stay for a longer trip. * A fire alarm on our last day was handled poorly by the out of uniform security manager. Paying guests should be treated politely when concerned about what is happening a few doors down, rather than being told to go back into their room like naughty school kids. * Hotel Breakfast buffet was sparse and quite average.
Overall, I would still stay here in the future but may investigate other options close by.

Good afternoon MrP78_11, Thank you for choosing to stay with us again at the Oakwood and for sharing your detailed feedback. We're delighted to hear that you still find our hotel beautiful and appreciate the tastefully appointed suites and our convenient location. However, we regret to learn that some aspects of your stay did not meet our usual high standards: - We apologize for the confusion at reception that led to you being sent to the wrong room twice. We understand how this could be inconvenient and will ensure our front desk team is better trained to prevent such issues. - Your observation about fewer staff and the need for more proactive, friendly service is noted. We will work on improving staff presence and attentiveness to ensure a better guest experience. - The cleanliness issues you mentioned, with food left in walkways, are concerning. We will address this with our housekeeping team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. - We regret that the handling of the fire alarm was not up to standard. Our security team will be reminded to manage such situations with more professionalism and respect for our guests. - We're sorry to hear that the breakfast buffet did not meet your expectations. We are continuously looking for ways to enhance our offerings and will take your feedback into account. We appreciate your constructive comments and are committed to making improvements. While we hope to welcome you back for another stay, we understand you may explore other options. Thank you for your feedback, which is invaluable in helping us enhance our services. Kind regards Karl Dumbrell Rooms Manager

Me & my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Victoria. We’ve just emigrated from the UK so had quite a lot of bags. Upon arriving there was no bellboy to help us with our bags, and the staff inside just watched us struggle until we reached the check in desk. This isn’t usually something i’d complain about, but to advertise yourself as a 5* hotel and paying for that service I’d at least expect help with the 6 bags we had.
The room was nice - fairly spacious and modern decor. However housekeeping didn’t come for 2 nights and on day 3 of us staying in the hotel I had to call down to reception and request for our room to be made up and for fresh towels.
Parking was ‘discounted’ at $25 dollars a day (!!) which again, I find it insane for a 5* hotel not to have free parking.
These aren’t usually things I would complain about, but we stayed before in an ibis budget and a motel in rural Victoria in which our rooms were cleaned every day and staff were helpful, so you would expect a little more from a facility that advertises itself as 5*.

Dear laurakrb1993, Thank you for your recent feedback in regards to your stay with us and welcome to Australia. My apologies for your arrival experience and I will follow up with the front office team in regards to your luggage. Your feedback in regards to the room not made, we have a "make up my room" tablet at the room entrance you can call housekeeping to clean your room in case it was not done in time or you would like to have it done to a specific time. But I do agree the housekeeping team should have followed up with you to clean your room and my apologies for this as well. Unfortunately parking is in all hotels in CBD/Melbourne for a charge and $25 for a 24 hours ticked is compared to the Melbourne standard a very compatible price. Again, my apologies for your overall negative experience. Please do let me know if you would like to discuss this matter further and contact me under mathias.waas@oakwood.com Thank you again and best personal regards Mathias

The Apart Hotel was brand new and rooms plus facilities were totally modern.
One of the best hotel gyms I have ever been, its fantastic !
Breakfast options were good, however no variations at all during my 4 nights of stay
Tram station was just 2-3 mins walk away. Internet wifi speed is acceptable and good enough.
Housekeeping was absolutely poor during my stay. First day, they did not replace the items that was taken at all (soaps, shower gel, coffees, glass, cups, plates, spoons). And when i requested for the shower gels and soaps, the housekeeping staff just entered the room without knocking. Second day, same thing happened. Towel and shower mat was not replaced and I had to reask for it. The third day, I reached back in the evening and found out room wasnt cleaned at all since I left at 7.30am.
Location was ok- but not easy to get food around especially in the night. '
Breakfast starts at 6.30 am on weekdays however one time I head there around 6.45am they were not 100% ready yet.

We stayed in the 2 Bedroom apartment on the 38th floor facing the City. Great rooms, facility and hotel of the finest. 5 star for a lesser price then in the city. Foyer and reception is great, key card elevator to your floor, spacious apartment with great view. Lounge and dining room, kitchen and water dryer. Used breakfast restaurant and buffet was great. Convenience store on site for ready cooked meals and all your snacks and chocolate you need. Roomservice is also great with authentic classic. We ordered the Club Sandwich and it came just the way I learned to make it 35 years ago. Fantastic.

We enjoyed a one night stay mid week stay at Oakwood Premier when we were seeing a show at the Plenary at the Melbourne Convention center. The location was fantastic as it was within a 5min safe walk (not 15min as Google maps said).
We were given a free upgrade which saw us stay in room 3512 which was fantastic. Views over looking the convention centre/exhibition center toward crown and the yarra. It was fully self contained with a full size fridge, induction cooktop, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and a separate bedroom to the living area, with full closet and TV in the bedroom as well as the living area. The bed was super comfy as well. If you were looking for somewhere to stay for a week, this room would be perfect.
The games room was great with a full size pool table, air hockey, foosball, table tennis table, arcade games table and an electronic pinball. There was also a large screen TV, snack vending machine and lots of chairs and beanbags to relax on.
The lounge/bar area was nicely appointed with booths or tub chairs/tables to sit at. We enjoyed a late night dessert of eclairs and baked choc chip cookies which came out hot in a cast iron pan. Yummy Breakfast in the restaurant was nice, we had buffet included in our booking. It had the usual array of foods you would normally see including an egg station. I had poached eggs, which were done perfectly. As with every automatic toaster in any hotel, it only cooks the toast on one side and even on the highest setting, the toast is barely browned.
Overall, if you are looking for a nice place to stay in Melbourne, close to the convention centre, Etihad, Crown etc, this is the perfect place to stay. We will definitely be back.

I have read other reviews and can only assume they had teething issues as a new hotel. Our four night stay was excellent. Checked in by friendly staff. No worries getting two key cards. The wife asked if we could have a room with a good view, no worries, strait to the 32nd floor. The room was spotless with an oven, microwave, cook top, coffe maker, large fridge all crockery, utensils. Room service each day was spot on. Comfy bed and pillows. We ordered room service twice and the meals were delivered hot and they were very tasty. Our flights and the hotel were booked as a Qantas holiday so I can't coment on the price of the room but would definately stay there again. It is a short way out of the cbd but Uber were cheap and reliable. I was happy to walk for a few minutes to the free tram lines. Breakfast each day was the usual hotel fare and very nice. The staff in the breakfast room knew their stuff and cleared the tables quickly even though they were busy. So, happy to stay again. Five stars.

Myself and my partner (LBGT couple ) stayed here for 6 nights over New Years. We greeted by amazing receptionist Irene. Throughout the stay everything was impeccable. We had a Deluxe Suite with a stunning city view of the Melbourne CBD , which was a chance but once in a lifetime view of the NYE fireworks.
The room was modern , beautiful and spotless with every amenity we could have wanted (washer/dryer/microwave/oven/kitchen ) but all camouflaged within the modern decor , beautiful finished. From the view to the room service ( all done by tablet ) everything was perfect.
Location - a 10 minute walk from Melbourne CBD. , a quick tram ride away from St.Kilda beach , Luna park and other attractions, as-well as only being 2 tram stops from the CBD , this hotel is the perfect location, just far enough to be away from the city bustle but close enough to be able to walk from the city with suitcases if you choose! There is even a bar/coffee shop in the hotel lobby if you need something on the go .
Beautiful establishment , incredible location and wonderful staff , cannot fault , worth every cent , will definitely be back when next in Melbourne. Save yourself some time researching and book here , it has it all !

The lifts in the hotel take a while to come as you have to pre enter your floor and it tells you which lift to enter and unable to select floors once in the lift, which is not everyone’s cup of tea. The room was okay but cleanliness and housekeeping was a concern which I highlighted with management when I found a huge broken nail in my room and dirty washing machine with a foul smell, which grossed me out I almost couldn’t sleep. Upon informing the French manager he said he would call me back to arrange a credit or partial refund for my 2 night stay, but he didn’t. Then when I spoke with TK the other guy on duty he said he would take care of it and contact qantas to refund me but this never took place. I asked him to email me and he didn’t. I then emailed him and he never replied. That’s really terrible service! I am still giving it a better rating of poor as I liked the comfort zone bath products and the crockery at breakfast although the variety on offer was also poor.

Firstly the one positive, the room was nice with full length windows with a view……. of the local businesses and motorways. Now the downsides, beware the hotel is pretty much in an industrial area, a fair distance to anywhere, so if you like a 30 min walk to Southbank you’re in luck. 10 min walk to the Crown through an industrial area and some underpasses. We used Ubers for the majority of the weekend. The breakfast was stressful, so busy we were asked to sit in a lounge area adjacent to the breakfast room, we eventually found our own seats, breakfast was average at best, not a 5 star experience at all and we decided to skip it the next morning didn’t want to deal with the drama! The lifts are a nightmare waiting around 10 mins on some occasions, one was out of order and it seemed like it was the same 2 lifts all the time. No check in until bang on 3pm which is okay, but then there is a huge line! There is a rooftop bar/restaurant, which cost $47 for 2 glasses of wine, so knock yourself out if that’s your thing! Never again, spend some more and get a better location!

A hotel which is well priced and very conveniently located. A walk through the DFO and you are in the heart of Melbourne CBD, Public transport on the 109 trams which goes through the city is also relatively close but I chose to walk to Spencer street station which is about a 12 minute walk. The studio rooms are large and the price was excellent which is what prompted my choice to stay here again. breakfast was included and very good. The breakfast restaurant staff were very good as were reception staff. Housekeeping seemed off the mark or this would have been a straight 5 star rating but all up, it's a very good choice if you want a 5 star room and stay at a reasonable price.
