Wow! What a fabulous hotel. We needed somewhere to stay on the night before our cruise and we booked deluxe studio apartments for each couple. So well appointed with full kitchen, washing /dryers , lovely bathrooms and very comfy beds. Our room was on the 37th level with fabulous Melbourne city views. Great breakfast the next morning and off street and on street parking available nearby. The only downside is that there is no public transport nearby.

Really enjoyed our stay at Oakwood. Hotel was really smart and high tea, so much so we couldn't get TV to work, lol. Exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. Rooms were superbly equipped with everything necessary, and more,for a weekend or longer stay. Beds were very comfortable, great pressure from rainhead shower. Stunning views from 29th floor appt overlooking the Yarra from the floor to ceiling windows. 10 minute walk to Casino and DFO and tram stop a 5 minute walk taking you further afield. Would definitely recommend and not hesitate to stay again.

A solid 4 star hotel / apartment offering in an average location, Room was nice, however not sure the bed was any bigger than a traditional double; would not have wanted to share it. Lots of nearby building happening, however is a bit of a wasteland area at present. Staff tried hard. Couldn’t find a breakfast food offer other than coffee.

Worst staff, highly unprofessional staff. We were treated so poorly by the staff at the table when we asked whether we could take advantage of a better online deal. His manager came over and was extremely rude (his name was Max I think) which made the whole stay rather unpleasant.

This is NOT a 5 star hotel and we will NOT be booking again! Where do I begin, Check in - took over an hour from when we arrived holding our bags to when we scanned our key card on the elevator - Still, holding our bags the entire time. Having only 4 out of 6 maybe 7 computers, this was not a good start especially on one of their busiest nights. The line was out the door in a freezing windy tunnel with only 4 front desk operators and what looked like the Duty Manager/Front of house manager who was passing behind the Front Desh Assistance. We booked their One-Bedroom Executive Apartment Twin which QUOTES from their own website advertisement: "Our One-bedroom Executive apartment located on levels 30 to 39 offers stunning views of the city with its floor to ceiling windows. This apartment features a separate living area and bedroom, complete with plush bedding a 55-inch TV with Google Chromecast and a luxurious rain shower." - We were located on level 30 facing the BAY and West Gate Bridge…. Upon questioning this at check-in, the front desk lady advised that their One-Bedroom Executive appartments all face away from the city and look out to the bay area....Her exact words were "facing St Kilda" which was not what we saw. We also requested the Twin beds to be pushed together which they couldn’t provide so, WE pushed these together ourselves…. Concierge - There was none... There was what looked to be a temp Security Guard but NO Concierge Valet Parking - There was only "express drop off" at the hotel entrance guided by retractable belt stands and 2 washed out signs. It wasnt known to us until we drove up to the front entrance that we had to park our own car across the street in an unsecured open air parking lot (that the hotel had no name to) this was "Pay by the hour/day" which was not mentioned at the time of reservation with Kim or even upon check-in with Front Desk. Room Service - staff were friendly, from the phone call to the delivery of food. However, we asked for a very small bucket of ice along with our pizza. Not a wine cooler filled to the top, we had to tip out half of it which was a waste. Only Minor but still an inconvenience. We ordered a simple margarita pizza (Pasata and cheese) that arrived burnt on the outside and stale in the middle with a very large amount of tomato slices spread around the top. Which were picked off to leave half a pizza. The lady had to knock instead of using what was expected to be a doorbell. Out of respect of the other guests in your 5* hotel, why was this not utilised? Having a touch screen ‘DND’ and ‘make up my room’ tablet inside the door and no use of doorbell on the outside? Room itself - The room looked good, the block out curtains were the best part of the entire stay. We had a random tablet on the desk with no instructions to what it was for or how to use it. There was no information about the hotel at all - except a TV that only had a remote that led to information you had to further look into through a QR code. Room Ammenities - Everything BUT a toothbrush! My partner forgot his toothbrush and I assured him there would be one supplied at the hotel (being 5*) To my disappointment, I had to pay $10 for a toothbrush at the store next door (which again had nothing to do with the hotel) Sanity bag was needed but ripped upon trying to open it up. The hand wash pump was in unusable condition- and I just didn’t want to try anything else. Buffet Breakfast - Walking into the front of the restaurant, all the guy wanted was our room number. As this was our first time at this hotel and being in many 5 star hotels in the past, we were expected to be shown a table and offered the typical tea or coffee or at least shown the basics or where the basics were located - We were ticked off like we were a number. I had to ask if we just sit down or they show us. When he said to find your own spot, I then had to ask where the tea, coffee, plates and cutlery can be found…. Id expect this at a 3* hotel if that. Check out - First thing the lady asked was if we had our vehicle in their parking lot... Then to our 2nd surprise the $19 margarita pizza came to $25 all because they had a $6 TRAY CHARGE!! As if we hadn’t spent enough at this hotel yet they decide to add on this charge for an Attendant to bring a tray 2 meters into our room which is something they already gets paid to do. By this time we were done and had ENOUGH. This whole experience was a waste of time and money and I would not recommend anyone to pay anymore that $150 per night. Even on busy periods - Its just not worth it. Paying $500+ a night compared to a fair odd $150. This experience has become unbelievable. This has been the worst 5* hotel I have stayed at. This is not the only place I have left feedback. I have had better experiences in 3.5star hotels in Vietnam then OAKWOOD Premier hotel here in Melbourne of all places.

Myself and my partner (LBGT couple ) stayed here for 6 nights over New Years. We greeted by amazing receptionist Irene. Throughout the stay everything was impeccable. We had a Deluxe Suite with a stunning city view of the Melbourne CBD , which was a chance but once in a lifetime view of the NYE fireworks. The room was modern , beautiful and spotless with every amenity we could have wanted (washer/dryer/microwave/oven/kitchen ) but all camouflaged within the modern decor , beautiful finished. From the view to the room service ( all done by tablet ) everything was perfect. Location - a 10 minute walk from Melbourne CBD. , a quick tram ride away from St.Kilda beach , Luna park and other attractions, as-well as only being 2 tram stops from the CBD , this hotel is the perfect location, just far enough to be away from the city bustle but close enough to be able to walk from the city with suitcases if you choose! There is even a bar/coffee shop in the hotel lobby if you need something on the go . Beautiful establishment , incredible location and wonderful staff , cannot fault , worth every cent , will definitely be back when next in Melbourne. Save yourself some time researching and book here , it has it all !

Pros This is a relatively new apt/hotel and facilities are well maintained with a well equipped gym. The location is out of CBD but we had a car so that was fine, and we liked that it was quieter and close to couple of places like south Melbourne market, Docklands. Service was patchy - more abt that later. I do want to commend Callum (Front Desk). He was efficient, friendly and service oriented. Cons It really was the service - one of our rooms had a faulty iPad attached to the door, that weirdly had a camera/recording mode on and wasn’t fixed for 2 days. - room cleaning service wasn’t done despite us requesting for it. It was probably a busy day but both rooms had the same issue and we had to request for towels etc - another room had a weird smell (akin to drain or fishes) as we entered the room and we traced it to the kitchen sink area - lastly we requested for late check out and had it extended by an hour but we were locked out as the key cards stopped working by 11am.

What a magnificent view . Beautifully appointed , everything needed for a few days stay . Next to DFO and Southbank restaurants you won’t find better . 10 minute walk from grocery store and bottle shop , 15 minutes and you are in south central Melbourne, shopping , food , landmarks and train station . Again . The best view I’ve had anywhere when you book a suite overlooking the Yarra .
