Melbourne’s first luxury lifestyle hotel with its rebellious Flinders Lane address is now open. W Melbourne takes its design cues from the streets of Australia’s cultural capital, holding the back-lane entrance keys to what’s New/Next in the city, revealing a playground where the early risers to the late-night revellers can turn up the tracks. Extending the laneway culture inside, 294 bold rooms and suites peel back the layers and revel in the city’s history. 828 square metres of ultra-modern event space sets the stage for epic events. Four restaurants and bars will amp up the experience; with Warabi set to shake up Japanese dining, Lollo to take you from day, night to beyond under the culinary creative direction of Adam D’Sylva, Curious is the the bar to see and be seen in and Culprit will be a café come bar that serves up your double shot latte, to an afternoon spritz. Detox in our state-of-the-art FIT gym then retox with a dip and a sip in our WET® pool. Detox in our state-of-the-art FIT gym, then retox with a dip and sip in WET® the pool. Both are located on level 14 with panoramic views across the city skyline and are available to you 24/7. WET transform to an Adult Only (+16 years) space from 5PM to 6AM.

Nestled in the heart of Melbourne, W Melbourne earns praise for its excellent location, with guests enjoying easy access to local culinary and entertainment spots. The hotel's modern amenities, such as a well-appointed gym and chic pool, are popular among travelers, though some feel service could be enhanced. While opinions on service vary, with some citing professional staff and others noting service lapses, the hotel's cleanliness and stylish atmosphere are widely acclaimed. Guests have mixed feelings about the value, acknowledging luxurious in-room features like Japanese toilets but critiquing extra charges.

Finally, the W Melbourne is welcome addition to the Melbourne hotel scene. Offering chic and moody style along with fine comfort this hotel ticks all the boxes. The amazing design and styling throughout the hotel is exceptional down to every detail from the extensive mini bar to the light fittings and flowing curves and lines in the guest rooms and common areas. The bed is super comfortable, the spacious bathroom has a rainhead and rail head shower and a bathing the separate toilet cubicle has a smart toilet with built in bidet. Great lighting throughout and blackout curtains ensuring a good nights sleep.
The location at the lower end of Flinders Lane is terrific to stroll across to the river, walk to many nearby restaurants and attractions or wander to Melbournes great CBD Shops. Parking is limited and pricey so take this into account if possible to arrive by other means. The foyer of the hotel had a nasty smell constantly over the 3 nights we were at the hotel so hopefully this will be addressed soon as it was the only drawback we noticed and not the welcome you expect in such an otherwise exceptional hotel.
You absolutely must bring your swimsuit and check out the amazing pool Wet. Thank you Marriott Bonvoy for bringing W to Melbourne. Our new favourite local for an amazing Staycation!

This was my first ever Hotel W visit, I travel a lot but to date have never stayed at one. With the new Melbourne hotel promising a fresh approach and 'cool' vibe I thought I'd give it a go.
Perhaps I'm feeling my age, but the first thing you notice is the loud music in the foyers and lifts. Hard to have a conversation in either location.
The rooms are very 'Melbourne', lots of dark wood. And on a gloomy Melbourne day feels a little dark. Whilst there is plenty of lighting it's difficult to get it right, some lights you can't turn off without turning the entire room lighting off - for example, the bar in the corner and the wardrobe lights. My solution was to put a towel over the bar area as it's way too bright (after calling service to find neither could be turned off without sitting in the dark).

My other advice is don't wear bare feet where the carpet meets the entry or bathroom tiles, the spikes coming up through the carpet is not a good experience - the hotel need to take a look at this with the fitout firm as a priority.

The staff were very attentive, I had the need to call service a few times and they were very pleasant and responsive. I wasn't a fan of the in room dining menu, the club sandwich comes deconstructed and with ingredients I thought just don't work. The next night I called Uber Eats. Sometimes you just want some old fashioned club sandwich or burger but the menu seems to be trying way too hard.

Overall a high quality hotel, and I'm guessing will be very popular with the younger cool weekend traveller. For the business traveller I'm less sure but will probably give it another go later in the year.

We have stayed at W Hotels all over the world. So was excited to check out the new W Hotel in Melbourne.

Originally we had booked a Mega room, which was lovely for just a room, though my husband snores. So I was terrified I would be stuck in one room with the human freight train. Silly me had meant to upgrade when we were sent the invitation from the W prior to our stay and guess who forgot.

We contacted the front desk to see if we could get an upgrade at last notice, which they said may not be possible due to it being such a busy time. (Which is great since Covid).

We had sort of given up hope when in the afternoon we received a call to tell us that they had a suite ready for us.

We were SO excited!

Then we moved to the Marvellous Suite and WOW! It was exactly that, marvellous!

We walked into a beautiful decorated suite that offered a spacious lounge room area, paired with the amazing mini bar, of which W are known for.
A large and comfortable sofa awaited, added with this views to gag for and a TV with all the expected viewing channels available.

The bathroom was sublime! So spacious with a large shower cubicle and deep long bath to take a soak in. The toilet was my favourite part with its heated seat and bidet capabilities! You also had full sized MOMO and Skin Regime bath/ body products to indulge in.

The bedroom was impressive but the open wardrobe layout was something I dream of. So much space to hang all of your clothes, store shoes and also suitcases. This was a great addition to the room and what most rooms get wrong.

We also had the opportunity to eat in the attached restaurant Lollo (will review separately) which was amazing and were also lucky enough to be taken by one of the staff members to the phenomenal and very exclusive Curious bar (make sure you book).

The hotel is in a great location and also features has a well equipped gym and also a indoors/outdoors inspired pool and WET bar. It feels very luxurious and relaxing.

As always the service was impeccable, the surroundings sublime and the stay incredible!

Why can't I just live there?

Thankyou W Hotel Melbourne we will be back!

Very disappointing stay at The W Melbourne.
A really exciting element of a birthday weekend and based on previous W hotel experiences around the world we were 100% sure the hotel would deliver.

In many areas of the hotel (corridors and pool / bar area) there was a distinct smell of toilets / sewage which was disgusting and judging by reviews I have seen since this has been going on for at least a month. I would have thought that at check in we would have been warned about this and offered some sort of discount or voucher etc but nothing - just take the $600 and carry on was my impression.

While the room was aesthetically impressive it was hot and stuffy and we could not get the temperature down to under 23 degrees. Did not sleep at all.

The bathroom (open concept which I really don't like but wont complain about as this is something popping up at all "modern hotels) was ok but the shower had nothing more than a dribble of water - we ended up checking out at 7am and going home for a shower.

I really don't like writing negative reviews - especially about an industry that has suffered terribly during and since the pandemic but i also really think it is unfair that consumers are asked to spend significant amounts of money on something and it turns out to be a real disappointment and not worth it. We were asked to fill in a survey after our stay in which we detailed the issues above but this has gone largely ignored with no offer of compensation or anything.

Such a shame as we had been SO excited about this for months leading up to the birthday weekend.

Nice hotel but needs some refining.
For a newly opened motel it’s quite dirty.
Bathroom has a lot of soap scum and mould. Dust and cobwebs through the room. They show off with their shower amenities and products the first night then downsize you for the rest of the stay. $7 for them to bring you room service to the room I think is ridiculous especially for the money they ask.
We had a marvellous suite which was big and nice on first looks but after being there for a night we started to see alot of things that need improvement. There is alot of tech in the room which doesn’t seem to work well. Housekeeping is terrible and the corridors and lifts smell of raw sewerage and carpets filthy.
They were very slow at responding to requests. We waited for over 2 hours for a tooth brush to be delivered from housekeeping Only for them to tell us they were out of stock. There shower gels and bathroom toiletries seem very cheap also.
Location is good and it looks nice but they seem to have missed the boat to be called a premium luxury hotel in my opinion. Much nicer places to stay for the money at $700 a night.
Restaurants and bars that are supposed to be attatched to the building are very hard to find and not very well sign posted. Breakfast is terrible and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
I would consider other places before I came back to this one unfortunately.

Hello Danandjosh, Thank you for taking the time to share your review at W Melbourne. It is great to be able to receive your honest feedback as it allows us to understand the service delivered by our talent to our guest. Our Style Manager has been tasked to review this with our talent responsible for your room styling. Our bath amenities are selected by our global brand to meet with the W Brand. Our room service menu was designed to be competitive when reviewed against other similar hotels. With the design of the hotel structure, Curious bar is designed to take on the hidden bar and laneway culture of Melbourne. I regret that this did not meet your expectations as it was something most of our guest did enjoy. Danandjosh, I hope you are recovering well and I wished I had known of these concerns when I assisted you during your stay. Being able to know of the concerns you encountered would have allowed me the opportunity to ensure you had a better stay. If we do have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future, do reach out to me as I would want to be able to regain your trust in W Melbourne Sincerely, Calvin Rabendharen Rooms Division Manager

Great design in the W standard room, with funky mini-bar and quirky wardrobe. Good bathroom with Japanese heated toilet seats. Nice accessories with steamer/iron and Nespresso machine. Housekeeping actually appropriately doesn't change towels and bedsheets or puts out new plastic mini-shampoos every day, just cleans and tidies. I received a full reset once in 5 nights, and that was on my first night.

Breakfast at peak hour is cooked in a perfunctory way - eats okay but a bit basic. Coffee is not up to Melbourne latte standard. Tried room service and was told I would have to tolerate a 45 minute delivery window. Was suggested the quick takeaway coffee shop, whose food items are quick and basic.

Curious bar is a good looking space, but apparently needs bookings. Pool is funky and gym very good for a hotel.

Front desk was surprisingly utilitarian, and didn't feel very welcoming (I didn't arrive at a busy time). I felt the concierge and driveway door staff were more friendly, but none were around when I arrived at 7pm the first night.

Overall, I think the product is of good quality, but like everywhere, staffing is an issue.

Myself and a friend stayed here in its second week of opening and had a great experience!

I called it the best hotel in Melbourne as we had recently stayed at other so called 5 star hotel here that came nowhere close to the W.

From the second I drove into the driveway it was impressive as I was greeted with a interesting and clever light installation. Check in was easy and all staff were very friendly and helpful.

I loved the decor and art in reception and the rooms. The rooms were modern, fresh and well-equipped. Absolutely excellent mini bar, with a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks/mixers and snacks, all well thought out products, and I loved the addition of the games.

There were so many things to discover every where you looked in the room, and every space was used effectively. As for amenities they had everything right up to heated toilet seats. My one small complaint was very, very limited space on the bathroom bench - there was no where to put products to do makeup or straighten hair.

We both had a great sleep and enjoyed being able to use our own streaming services on the TV.

We went out for dinner, but we couldn't get into the hotel restaurants. It would be great if they kept a few tables for hotel guests like a lot of places do. We did get into the bar which was very cool.

We did use the pool area and had it to ourselves, which is a fantastic and beautifully appointed space. The pool was quite cold though, be good if it was heated. Also a bit confused about the pool bar, it looked like it should have been open but not staff there or anything.

I think what did set it above many others is how helpful and friendly the staff were, and the attention to detail. They really went the extra mile from changing all the mats in the lift multiple times a day from 'good morning' t 'good evening', and all the little details that made it 'Melbourne', like the little hook turn signs on the bedside table.

Overall, I will definitely be returning to this hotel!

Stayed in Fabulous room for 5 nights. Room was spacious and clean, but disappointedly without a view as our room was directly facing the service apartment Oaks Melbourne on Market. Bathroom was big too and a nice pleasure to have a bidet toilet. However, the basin was too shallow and it was difficult not to wet the vanity top after each washing of hands or brushing of teeth. Toiletries came in very small bottles, unlike the jumbo sized bottles that we had enjoyed at our previous hotel in Hobart. Bathtub was a bit narrow for a plus-size person to have a good soak. Great location with tram stops nearby and many eateries around the hotel. Pool is opened 24 hours, great for a relaxing dip or swim after a long day of activities.

Service provided by front office and breakfast at restaurant Lollo was generally good and prompt. The only gripe of our stay at W Melbourne would probably be the inconsistent service provided by the housekeeping team. The team seemed to just clean and make up the room but didn’t have the initiative to replenish any empty toiletries bottle. Often we had to call the service line and asked for replenishment. There was once before leaving our room for our day tour, we had explicitly checked that we had switched off the privacy button. However we received en email from the hotel at about 4.30p.m informing that the housekeeping team couldn’t clean our room because the privacy light was switched on. How could that possibly happen when we had already made multiple checks making sure that the privacy light was really turned off?! Then on the next day, we came back to our room after shopping at about 4p.m, thinking to put our purchases in the room and rest a bit before heading out again. However to our rude shock, our room wasn’t tidied up at all.

Overall, it was still a good stay due to its convenient location though the housekeeping team still has room for improvement.

A huge fan of most Marriott hotels, some more than others. The W is a very unique brand and I have noticed that most of the W hotels are different in certain ways. W Melbourne was refreshing and just the perfect level of quirky and fun. The staffs from the front desk was top notch, absolutely excellent. Friendly, helpful and engaging! Every single time we walked past them, they will never fail to greet you, made us feel so welcome! We were also given 'bubbles' upon arrival which was so classy and interesting. Much needed after a 8 hr flight with kids!

Having stayed in a few W around the world, I must say W is our newest favourite. One of our favourite staff from W Singapore works here now and she is still as wonderful as ever, Ms Lopez always finds a way to delight us when we stay and huge win for W Melbourne. The staffs from the call centre was amazing! Always on top of all our request. The hotel was so busy but still adhere to our request really quickly. The pillows in the room was so soft and comfy, we actually own the pillows that we bought off W Stores and it was the best purchase. We had the chance to check out with one of the other manager, a lovely lady who has also been in the brand for quite some time, sorry did not catch her name.

One feedback I would like to provide would be in regards to in room dining and breakfast. We did not end up ordering in room food as the $7 delivery was too much and we decided to just head out. Typical Singaporean I know. But we really wanted to try the laksa and nasi goreng. So cool that there was so much asian food offering. Breakfast was really good but queue was too long and took time for us to finally sit down and enjoy the meal. Should have some better way of managing the crowd.

This hotel is a hot mess.

Starting from the welcome desk, there are so many casuals incapable of simply understanding the matters and without probably training on the system. The capable ones are few. A simple task like asking for a key duplication can take like 10 mins with the keyboards. Also there is no handover list in the Welcome dept, I had to explain three times throughout the day to address my concerns. Of course the stay was a lot of effort!! It is just a hassle to stay. Also, the desk tends to avoid you at all costs.

The culture of the living room is toxic. I cannot believe no one is offering help to me while ten of the talents are looking at me pulling my big suitcases to the taxi. Fair enough, the associate at the drop-off walked away to the office while seeing me lifting the luggage to the taxi.

Housekeeping is also not up to the W standard. I cannot believe the parts of the tv stands are still by the windows since the openings. At turndown, nothing is touched except two bottled water are placed on the table. The shower gel bottles are still empty.

It is very interesting that W doesn't place any usual amenities by default. I need my toothbrush and it took an hour to get it. Yet, cotton buds are run out FYI.

This seems the total failure of W.
