From the colour choice of room keys to the pillow menu, NEXT is really the next level of Melbourne accomodation. The room was cosy and well designed. All the things I needed in an organised space. The amenities (coffee, tea, bathroom) were beautifully curated along with the full sized bath sheets and cozy dressing gowns. A dyson hairdryer in the bathroom sealed the deal. I felt safe and secure in this beautiful hotel in the middle of Melbourne. I will be back.

After 15 months of hibernation in lock-downs we're lucky to enjoy 4 luxury nights of 5 star imaginative food and wine, where we did not have to lift a finger to cook, prepare or serve.
Architecturally Next Hotel is beautifully designed and food plus service truly combined "art of hospitality"
Also in a perfect location within a short stroll to high end shops, restaurants and theatres.

Though the rooms were of smaller sizes and totally lacking not only views but also daylight this was compensated with an excellent lighting system.
Our club room had a very comfortable bed and well designed spacious bathroom in a quiet location providing us with uninterrupted sleep quality.
Must add ~ Luxury Escapes package ~ especially with Club benefits was one of the best from many many years of our travels.

We were impressed from start to finish. Pre-stay emails were answered promptly. Check out time was flexible. All members of staff we met were both genial and efficient.
Our “Next Queen Room'' was of ample size, with plenty of storage space. It was comfortably furnished and the large corner windows offered a good view of town, as requested. The well designed bathroom had a walk-in shower and top end toiletries in large dispensers rather than those nasty, environmentally unfriendly, little bottles. The high quality robes and bath towels were much appreciated.
The public areas are very impressive, being light filled and beautifully decorated, with comfy chairs and delightful little knickknacks.
It was also fantastic to at last be able to return to a club lounge! Afternoon tea included fruit, cakes and pastries and a selection of premium tea and coffee. Pre dinner nibbles: cheese and crackers, cold cuts and spanakopita, were augmented by a fine choice of wine including a very nice Tasmanian sparkling. The continental breakfast: fresh fruit juice, a variety of breads and cereals, even included platters of scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages.
Due to the constant threat of travel restrictions, we are on the lookout for new and different places to stay, close to home. This was our first stay at the Next Hotel, but will definitely not be our last.
A lovely new hotel and great value for money.

I booked The Next after an extensive review of the available options, and am very glad I did! We stayed there as a family of four, in a 2 bedroom apartment, and latterly in two inter-connecting rooms (for one additional night, at the end of our trip). The location, on Little Collins street (the 'Paris end' of the city), just off Exhibition St, is hard to beat. You are within very easy reach of Melbourne's best restaurants, laneways and the CBD shopping district, and there are frequent trams heading north and south along Swanston St, which is a sub-5 minute walk away.

We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel, but we ate breakfast there every day. We had a 'Club' room, so had breakfast included in the rate. Confusingly, however, on some days breakfast was served in the restaurant, and other days it was served in the club lounge. It would have been easier if this was consistent. It seemed always to be very quiet at breakfast time; not sure if it was because we were eating earlier than others or because it was rather expensive (I understand that if you were not staying in a Club room breakfast was $75 per person).

Where the hotel really shone was their staff. We were travelling with my elderly mother, but left for a few days to visit friends out of the city. To make things easier for her, I requested for her to be served breakfast in her room while we were away; the hotel (I believe the lady's name was Carris or Karis) happily did this, without charging extra. There was also one night when in-room dining was not available, and I ordered dinner for her from Uber Eats. When the delivery man arrived at the Hotel, one of the consierge staff brought it up to her in her room so she didn't have to come down and get it. Mum said that the cleaning staff who cleaned her room while we were away were also very friendly and kind.

When it came to the end of her stay (and after we had already departed for London, England), I needed to arrange transport for her to Tullamarine airport, but with the additional requirement that the driver escort her into the building and help her locate the Airport Assistance people. I was a bit unsure what to do, since airport staff I had spoken to had said that they would meet my mum if she arrived by taxi and help her into the building, but that we needed to call ahead (which I thought she might forget to do). However, once I consulted James Ridenour of the hotel's consierge team, the situation was quickly resolved. We exchanged several emails and one phone call, and he explained that because the airport staff could not guarantee what would happen 'on the ground' it made more sense to book a service that would ensure my mother was taken care of. So I booked the hotel's limousine service, and all went smoothly. I found James, and his colleague Kyle, to be very professional in all our dealings. They are a credit to the hotel.

We will definitely stay at The Next again the next time(!) we are in Melbourne.

Hello Sgmarti, Thank you for leaving us such a comprehensive review! I'm thrilled to hear how well our team looked after you - we'll be sure to recognise Charis, James, Kyle and our Housekeeping team for their efforts. For your information, guests who do not have Club Access can enjoy a la carte breakfast at La Madonna ay anytime. The prices range depending on what item is ordered, but breakfast + coffee etc would typically not be more than about $30-$35 per person. We look forward to welcoming you back, please reach out to James when you're returning and we'll ensure you another fantastic stay! Warm regards, Cameron Brown Rooms Division Manager

We enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Next Hotel. The location was ideal for attending the theatre, with plenty of great restaurants and bars surrounding the hotel. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The included breakfast was outstanding and the rooms were very comfortable with a number of great finishing touches, including BOSE sound system, Dyson hairdryer, great selection of items in the mini-bar, easy to access screen casting, luxurious bath-robes and shampoo/body wash. As we purchased our stay on a package deal that included drink vouchers, a bottle of wine and breakfast, it was incredibly good value.

If you want to feel welcomed in a smaller boutique hotel in a great central location give the Next a go. Definately book a club room as breakfast, coffee/cake, and nibbles/drinks from 5-7pm are included and well worth it. Think the bed was super king and really comfy. Shower is HUGE, toilet separate - nice touch, toiletries in large bottles. Dyson hairdryer worth trying. Parking up the street is close but so tight to get around. Will be back!

A beautiful modern appointed hotel. Greeted at the entrance by staff, sometimes too many appear loitering at the entrance, and directed to the Level 2 reception. Check-in was easy, as we later found out, too easy.
Our room was beautiful with two separate living areas plus a large modern clean bathroom.
The hotel itself is located right in the theatre district, top end of town and a short stroll to Chinatown.
The area is very safe, free of the rubbish found south-west of the CBD once you cross Swanston Street.
Breakfast was included in our package, as was a $50 food and beverage voucher. The breakfast was on level 3 at la Madonna. A lovely setting, excellent food and quick service.
We were there for 3 nights and after our first night we enquired at reception whether we could use our $50 voucher on the mini bar. They said no, it was only for the restaurant and bar.
We also enquired what The Club part of our booking was about, they said it was for the Club on Level 2 and included all day coffees, teas, softdrinks with small cakes and fruits. From 5pm to 7pm The Club guests are entitled to alcholic drinks and snacks. I wish we'd been told about this when we checked in the day before. Our card pass had not even been activated for entry into The Club. Fortunately Steve was able to sort that out, he was excellent.
We at least got to enjoy one evening session in The Club, it was fantastic, the snacks that evening included oysters and some magnificent prawn, pork and vegetable spring rolls.
The only other downside was being charged for $38 that they believed we used from the mini bar, we touched nothing. At $12 for a bottle of water & $10 beers, it was why we asked if we could use our voucher.
The staff were all excellent, the hotel is beautiful and we've already decided to do it all again next year.

The rooms were beautiful with lovely amenities including blackout blinds, Dyson appliances, deep bath, amazing bathrooms and to die for beds and linen However what let this hotel down MAJORLY were the rude restaurant waiting staff, the extremely limited and well overpriced menu, for example all I wanted was.a steak, but the only one one the menu was a $120 one for 4 people! Also, no children's menu available, so we had to go out and get our children takeaway, as they didn't want the half duck for $50 or two little chicken wings for $20, or a zucchini fritter for $7 each! If this is not meant to be a hotel restaurant for children, then this should be stipulated! The hotel was at full capacity due to a Luxury Escapes promotion. It apparently has 225 rooms, but the restaurant looked like it would only seat around 40 - 50 people maximum! So there was always a queue and we the second night, we were seated at the bar, due to no tables being available for over an hour or so! When we arrived for breakfast at 10:15am, which was included in our package and thinking we had 45 minutes until breakfast ended at 11am, we were told very rudely, oh sorry, we probably won't be able to get you in prior to 11am when we shut! Um, excuse me? How is this the customers fault when the restaurant only seat around 40-50 people, we weren't allowed to have breakfast seated at the bar like the prior night for dinner and the hotel is at full capacity due to Luxury Escape promotions? I was so looking forward to this weekend away with my family after a stressful few months, but I didn't even get to have a meal with my family due to all of the able. Very disappointed, especially as we have travelled all around the world and never have encountered any of these problems before.
