Crown Metropol Melbourne emerges as a favored choice for its prime location, with many guests lauding its proximity to Melbourne's attractions and transport links. The hotel's modern ambience and elegant decor receive praise, contributing to a serene and welcoming environment. While the rooms are generally appreciated for their space and comfort, opinions vary, with some guests highlighting maintenance and cleanliness issues.
The staff's attentive service is frequently commended, although occasional lapses are mentioned. Despite its range of amenities, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned by travelers who feel the cost is steep.

We enjoyed our mid-week overnight stay at Crown Metropol. The room was much bigger than we expected for a city hotel, and the location is fabulous for anything you are doing in the city. We enjoyed a lovely lunch out and a movie at Gold Class at Crown. It's great that you can walk between the Crown locations without going outside if the weather is poor. The gym is good and open early, just a shame that the pool isn't open early for a swim before the families are up and about! Overall a fabulous stay - would recommend.

Room was spacious enough for 2 kids (7,9) we did take electronic devices with us just in case, but the kids were able to use the IPad provided in the room for entertainment. I room dining was easy to use and quick to arrive. Check in and check out was nice and easy. Parking at the crown multi level car park was easy and very reasonable rates. The pool was very family friendly, good depth for older kids. Great base for exploring night life around Melbourne.

For a pretty penny less than what you'd pay to stay at Metropols sister hotel Crown Towers (with exception to peak seasons); I would recommend this resort for the following...
You pay a fair amount less to get a fabulous room with city luxury views; the same standard of service, quality of food and best of all the infinity pool, boasting breathtaking sunsets and skylines from in and around an impeccably clean salt water pool, featuring a heated plunge pool on the side too.
Behold some glorious photos I took recently. There is also a steam room and vitality air bed, aka jet spas behind the ladies and men's room. Friendly bar staff are there to greet you upon secure entry as well as serve you drinks to enjoy around the pool should you like. This is beyond doubt the best pool within the complex and all 3 hotels. Adjoining also, an impressive hotel gym; again with the grand views of our stunning city, should the mood strike to get a workout in.
The beds are extremely comfortable with high quality luxury mattresses and the rooms sparkling clean and fresh. I've never been disappointed with the service and although it is a longer stroll to get to the main drag and restaurant scene like Rockpool and Nobu, you'd be doing your body a favour getting your steps up on your fitbit. Besides, the facility has its own restaunt and sky bar on level 28 that opens on Fridays.
There are also thousands of small businesses to support who were hard hit and renting throughout the complex as well. Off peak rate is around $309 per night. With a reasonably priced room service menu filled with variety and kids options starting as low as $15.50 for a kids meal.
As much as I enjoy Crown Towers, I also appreciate good value and that people can bring their kids into luxury accommodation without going broke in the process.
A comfortable 8 out of 10 and here is some photography of my recent stay.
Duly noted for future corporate and team building retreats in town.

This was an utter disappointment. I have been coming every christmas for 4 years now. It became a family tradition to stay at Crown Metropol over Christmas and New Years, but this year that tradition ended. They have stripped the accommodation package of everything extra that made it worth being here. They do not do house keeping for your room by default anymore; it takes 3 days to get your bed made; the pool hours have been reduced; there is no adult time for the pool; the pool closing hours don't allow us to watch the sunset as it previously did. On top of that the wait time at arrival was in excess of 1.5 hours, absolutely rediculous. Parking is no longer complimentary or included in the package. They then try to upsell to you to pay $84 per day for parking. It took 3.5 hours for house keeping to equip our room as it should've been when we arrived. It seriously felt like we were just another transaction for the hotel this year, where as previously it felt like the Metropol was our christmas home. It has become an absolute joke now and I am pretty sure we won't be coming back. I can't recommend this hotel for anyone as a result of the hotels poor management decisions. It is not worth the wait, the money or the effort to stay here.

Four days with three rooms over Xmas 2024 Check in/out lines were terrible.Upsold a “better” room which turned out to be dusty dirty with mould on bathroom fan.The curtains and track were broken requiring some time to be able to be closed, there was no IPad docking station or simply having only one teabag. The room itself particularly the carpet was threadbare and unclean.Much of the room furniture was coated in dust. If cleaning is only at three days then surely several towels not one each should be left. It was necessary to find cleaners and obtain soaps towels tea bags for all three booked rooms. Another of the rooms we booked had similar issues and no soap or pump refill in shower. Calling the concierge fell on deaf ears with no docking station for the entirety of our stay,if you want people to purchase room service or other items the device needs to work. Speaking with floor Manger on departure the upgrade room fee was refunded and there was a promise of an upgrade should we return. There was dismay we had been given such poor rooms but certainly no surprise as to the levels of cleanliness and poor service we had experienced. This hotel is tired and dirty Management need to revise their cleaning maintenance and front counter staffing policies we will be staying elsewhere when we travel to Melbourne.

Poor signage to find the front door by car. I had to ring for a staff member to come and guide me. Similarly in getting from the car park to reception on foot - no signposts. These two activities took over 30 minutes.
The room was Okay except for the bathroom which I can only describe as nouveau impracticable. The walls to the sleeping area were Japanese style screens which allowed light, noise and aromas into that area. The shower and toilet doors were frosted glass allowing clear silhouettes to be seen. In a twin room there was only one vanity basin. The only easily accessible eating venue was Mr Hive and not good. Breakfast was Okay, but there was a serious H&S risk with metal tongs being provided to allow adults and children put bread in and out of the electric toasters. The evening menu was bland, unimaginative and expensive - fish & chips $34 !!! The staff were generally helpful but need to pay more attention to guests. We ordered two drinks, they arrived 10 minutes apart, only after asking about the second one. We ordered satay chicken and rice. The rice arrived 10 minutes before the chicken. We watched at least 6 people walk away because no-one greeted them at the reception desk. We were served and charged for Moet without being asked after we ordered local sparkling wine which was not available; we were not told this. This was later rectified. There were no assistance facilities for people with limited mobility. The answer was "You will have to hire a wheelchair form outside". All in all a pretty poor and disappointing performance for a 5 star hotel. Don't think we'll be back.

Response from Mark Geerlings, General Manager at Crown Metropol Melbourne
Responded 30 July 2023
Dear Frank L, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I was naturally disappointed to learn your recent stay did not meet your expectations. I would also like to offer my sincere apologies for your overall experience. We greatly value your feedback regarding the challenges you experienced with locating our hotel, the unique design of our guest rooms and bathrooms, our restaurants and accessibility concerns. For the benefit of others who may read this review, our team has investigated your concerns regarding the use of metal tongs being used in conjunction with the commercial toaster and we pleased to confirm that this is not a hazard. We have confirmed this with the manufacturer and would like to highlight that the use of metal tongs is essential for ensuring safe food handling and minimises the risk of contamination. Please be assured we have rigorous policies and procedures in place for all equipment. To ensure peace of mind for all guests, our team will explore other alternatives to metal tongs to allow for a more comfortable experience. I appreciate your feedback and I have shared your comments with the relevant department managers. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your stay in further detail. If you have the time, please contact our Hotel Duty Manager on +61 3 9292 8328. Once again, thank you for your review and I do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again for a more positive stay in the near future. Sincerely, Mark Geerlings General Manager Crown Metropol Melbourne

8 nights stay along with my partner and 2x staff and we’ve had to repeatedly ask to get our room cleaned because of their 3 day cleaning policy. Repeatedly asked to refill our teas/ coffee and sugar- basics of a 3star hotel that they’ve struggled to achieve on a daily basis. Cups and glasses are rinsed in the room- not collected to be washed properly and replaced with cleaned ones. Walking down the corridor we’ve observed crumbs and sharp wastes on the floor for a week- obviously not vacuumed the floor . Trays would sit on the floor 24-48 hrs before it’s collected. Not worth paying for this so called 5 star hotel which in my opinion only delivers a 3 star service. It’s filthy, out dated with terrible management. Will never book here again.

Arrived at this 5 star Hotel Saturday pm, the three concierge watched me carry 2 large cases from the taxi drop off to reception. When I booked in at reception the receptionist then asked of if I needed assistance with the bags, no concierge on site surprise surprise! Next day left hotel at 9am and returned at 5pm, our room had not been made up, the cleaning staff were on the room next day and we wrongly assumed we would be next. When we returned at 5.45pm our room was still not made up. I called guest services who apologized then said it would not be made up every 3 days unless we left the service light on. Guest services then said they would send someone, nobody arrived, my wife walked to thee cleaners room on our floor and asked the cleaners to service our room, as she left they started to laugh about not doing it. Finally they arrived with clean towels and were going to leave without making the bed ? Rubbish is left out side most of the rooms all day ( see images) This on not acceptable Customer service in my opinion, it is meant to be a premium 5 Star Hotel on the Crown Casino development. The Hotel seems to be run at the convenience of the staff not the Customs. There are Many Hotels in Melbourne best avoid if you want customer service.

Nice hotel not really 5 star to be honest, do not stay in rooms 2649 and 2650 on the 26th floor , these rooms are below the gym and you will be woken very early in the morning to loud banging from people using the equipment it is impossible to sleep through. We had to go down to guest reservations to politely raise the issue as the in room telephone would not work properly. Guest reservations didn’t seem surprised with what we were saying and organised for a room transfer for that day, the rooms on the 21 st floor were furnished the same but didn’t seem as modern in terms of some things you needed the key placed in the power socket to make the lights and power work and don’t feel as fresh paint and bathroom tidiness as rooms on the 26th floor . But I’d take that over the noise any day. Man in charge of guest Reservations was extremely helpful and gifted us a free breakfast for the inconvenience at mr hive restaurant the food was very nice. Check in and check out process was good. If you can get the hotel rooms on sale it’s worth the stay but definitely would not pay full price they are nice but doesn’t feel 5 star have stayed at other hotels in Melbourne that are 5 star and are nicer for around the same price. The room view over looked a car park roof not very nice.
Handy that it’s connected to the crown precinct and the staff at the Metropol are very friendly .
When booking you can get some good deals if you join crown direct and book yourself via the webpage then calling the hotel directly. Will stay again if nightly price is reasonable and if room available away from the gym area.

Unfortunately the Crown is going downhill and no longer values it's reward members like other programs like Accor seem too. I rang and asked prior to checking in if my wife could check in to the room earlier than myself as I wasn't finishing work until late. I was told because I booked through Crown Direct and got a 'discounted room rate' that I would need to pay an extra $320 for her to check in before me. This wasn't to pay for an 'early check in' - this was just to pay to put her name on the booking so she could check in at 3pm and me at 6pm. The breakfast buffet is now between $45-$50 per adult. With 2 adults and 2 kids, this now becomes $150 to eat breakfast. Some people may be ok with this, but an Accor hotel we stayed at the week prior gave us 50% off dining for adults and kids ate free and was much more family friendly. The rooms will only get serviced if you put the notification on the door and ask for it. There is no more automatic servicing. We put the notification on for over 5 hours one morning and it still didn't get serviced. We used to get given a bottle of champagne and chocolates on arrival as we are frequent crown guests, a nice touch but not expected. It seems like this doesn't happen anymore either. When my wife did go to check in, she was told that the room wasn't ready, she checked an hour later and was then told that there were multiple rooms available to check in right next door to our 'supposed' room but that there was a note on the booking that we had to wait for our room. Not entirely sure why but it seems like as a crown rewards member, you don't get any special treatment, infact you get penalised for supposedly getting slightly better rates, not sure you even do though! We will move our stays to Accor for the time being as we feel they treat families better and are better value for money through their rewards programs. Hopefully Crown will lift it's game again soon.

I think it was $50 bucks a day. Yes check in can take that long. The room was perfect however the pool was such a disappointment as it was more like a learnt to swim waterpark for kids who also were pooing and peeing in it. Not ideal pool for a beautiful hotel.
There are more places to choose from in the Melbourne area.
