It's a hotel that's designed just the way you really like it, with a down to earth attitude and an honest sense of humour. A conveniently located hotel that is created for the way we live today, without all the unnecessary extras, but with all the parts that make it a comfortable and practical place to stay, from the hearty new breakfast offering, to the standard 11am check-out time, and the comfortable beds, kitchenettes and reliable showers. Our location is regularly highlighted for it s excellent proximity to Marvel Stadium, Southern Cross Station, public transport, an array of shopping choices and easy access to the Melbourne CBD!

Travelodge Hotel Melbourne Docklands receives mixed feedback; guests appreciate its prime location near Southern Cross Station for easy city access, yet opinions on service and value vary. While praised for its cleanliness and comfortable atmosphere, some visitors point out inconsistent housekeeping and dated decor.
The hotel's amenities, including Wi-Fi and hot water, sometimes fall short of expectations, leading to discussions about whether the cost is justified. Despite these concerns, the convenience of the hotel's location remains a highlight for many.

Super conveniently located directly across the road from Southern Cross Station, and around the corner from some very nice restaurants, Travelodge Docklands was excellent value for money, clean, comfortable, and staffed by pleasant, professional and helpful people.
This was my first stay, but it absolutely will not be my last! My new home away from home in Melbourne!

We stayed here mainly due to the location, that being close to Southern Cross Station, as we were due to travel to Adelaide on the Overland Train the next morning, it would have otherwise meant a very early start. As it turned out our trip to Adelaide was cancelled due to a Melbourne COVID-19 lockdown on the evening we arrived at the hotel.
The check in, was very good and Mary was very nice and friendly. The room was small but comfortable, except for the lounge which was not comfortable at all mainly because it was one of those fold out beds.
The room was clean, however I did see a tissue on the floor in the corridor that should have been cleaned up, but otherwise the place was quite clean with sanitise stations located everywhere as well as in the lifts themselves, a nice touch. There was even some spray disinfectant in the room to use if you felt the need. One thing of note was the TV remote was wrapped in plastic, probably because germs can get under the buttons and is hard to clean. We thought that was a good idea, but the label to tell you not to remove it was on the back which was unfortunate because we unwrapped it before we saw it.
There is plenty of places to eat and drink in this location (Docklands), however due to COVID-19 a lot were closed, some for good I suspect. At worst there are plenty of takeaway places in Southern Cross Station as well as more restaurants in the CBD. We had Thai takeaway and ate in the room as there were utensils, crockery and a table with enough chairs which made it quite acceptable to eat in the room. There was even a microwave if you needed it.
Parking is right next door, but at $25 per night, convenient, but I thought that was a bit steep.
We have stayed here before and would definitely stay again. Good value, eben with the parking cost.

We were gifted our stay in Melbourne so we were set to enjoy ourselves. The staff were very friendly and efficient at check in and organised our breakfast for the next morning. (It is cheaper if you order it the day before). Our room was on the ninth floor and we had a view looking towards Docklands. The room was quite small but the king size bed and very comfortable. One bed side lamp did not work which was annoying. The room has a microwave which we did not use. The bathroom was clean and had the basic soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. There were face washers which was good. There was an effort to be environmentally active with regard to towels and a bin that encourages the sorting of rubbish. However the curtains do need a clean - they were greasy and dirty in the area where they are pulled closed. Breakfast was quite good - cereal, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and tomatoes. It was a shame it was not possible to have eggs cooked differently. The coffee is from a machine and there was a good variety of pastries. This hotel is located next to Southern Cross Station and is a short walk to the Collins Street tram service. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

I stayed here this month as I needed a room for a couple of nights and it had a late checkout the day I had a committment in the afternoon. To put it mildly, Travelodge Docklands was one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever been in, and I have stayed at a fair few cheaper places (and even holiday parks). The housekeeping staff are either poorly trained, don't care, or are overworked.
This is during the era of COVID, and they have some ads on their website about their cleanliness.
Photos attached but:
1) There was a hair on the floor of the shower
2) The floor of the shower was sticky when I had a shower
3) There was grime and mould in the crack on the outside of the shower
4) The couch was dirty with smears on it
5) The curtain was disgusting (see photos)
6) The chair was also unclean
7) There were some crumbs in the fridge
I have previously had good experiences with Travelodge (Wellington) but this was terrible and I doubt I will be back to a Travelodge in the future as a result. I suggest that you implement further training for your housekeepers, set some realistic standards and then enforce them
If there is one thing that I care about when staying at hotels (I hadn't planned on needing to stay at a hotel but had to due to my apartment not being ready) it is cleanliness!! No-one wants to go on a staycation or vacation to Melbourne if this is what they face.
Otherwise:
The location was handy to the train station which was good, make sure you use the lift by the Nine (tv station) headquarters
The staff were nice (Mary was friendly and helpful)
I like how you can book a 1pm late checkout
WiFi was insecure and improperly configured, and they try to make more money off it with plans to increase data or speed
I would not trust this location again though, no matter how cheap.
They are advertising specials at the moment on booking.com and other locations but I recommend you stay far, far away from this hotel

Thank you for taking the time to review your past stay with us. We will certainly follow your recommendation in continual training of our newer members of the housekeeping team. This does not excuse poor cleaning, however a more concentrated effort to review their work prior to releasing rooms for allocations. While i agree with aspects of your review, areas which we can improve on. We continually receive positive feedback prior to and after the recent lockdowns, we believe that we provide a value for money accommodation offering. I booked a triple room via the Travelodge web-site which offered a free welcome drink on arrival. We dropped our luggage off in the morning and the fellow on the desk was very helpful. We checked in later that day for a 2 night stay. The staff member was in training but was efficient and polite. Upon asking about our free welcome drink, another staff member offhandedly told her to give us 1 bottle of water - between 3 of us! I have given them direct feedback about my displeasure but have received no response. The hotel itself is in a very convenient location for public transport. The rooms are small and not fancy but clean and quiet. The triple room was a great option. However, please don't advertise what you refuse to deliver.

Hi joannewG1672MI, Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am sorry to hear that you were not given the required amount of welcome drink as promised. This would have been a genuine mistake and an oversight from our team members. We do not intend to misrepresent or advertise falsely for something we are committed to deliver. We want our guests to book with us directly and want to receive benefits for the same. I have addressed your unfortunate incident with the team and I am sure that this will not be repeated in the future. It is our hope that you give us another chance. Yours sincerely, Ram Bharadwaj

Wife & I on a visit to Melbourne to see relatives & thought a few days in CBD would be nice, hotel was close enough to city centre rooms were what you would expect from a motel style we had king room that we booked through the hotel website got good rate. Room was clean and tidy and the size you would expect for this type of accommodation.
As we were doing the city most days public transportation was close & easy, took advantage of free trams in the city.
If you want comfortable room & don’t expect the ritz would highly recommend ( only complaint was no biscuits for a cuppa)

Hotel was good, however the check in reception was below average, we did request for a king bed and room given was with 2 single beds. On complaining, we were moved from 3rd floor to 10th floor. in the 10 days we were there, sheets were only changed twice and only after we inquired at reception

When we arrived to the hotel, which located 300 meters away from the Southern Cross station, we had early check in at 1pm.
The triple bed room looks tidy, but there were not any rubbish bags covered on the rubbish bin and recycle bin.
We had a pleasant experience in the triple bed room till we found the quite on one of the bed, was replaced by bloodstained mattress cover on the 3rd day we stayed. It was revolting!
I wish the room attendants could be provided with better training to improve the room cleanness!

Great location but breakfast very poor.
The location is perfect for events at Marvel Stadium but the breakfast package was very poor in both service and variety. Catering for coeliacs was below average with no separate area for these foods.

Travelodge Docklands is in a very convenient location, close to trams and Southern Cross station. Amenities in the room are good, with a small kitchenette with microwave, basic cutlery and crockery and a small area to keep foodstuffs. There’s no sink or toaster and the fridge is small with a tiny freezer. Staff are very helpful. The beds are comfortable and the room well set out, with a desk/table, couch, wardrobe and case rack.

Yes they do. just off reception there is a laundry room with a couple was machines and dryers. I don't remember if it requires couns or not. So to be safe I would recommend taking some $1 just in case :) Hope this helps
Sorry, I didn't use any parking facilities as I didn't have a car during my visit. I suggest you contact the Travelodge directly as they should provide you with info on all options available.
Hi Danielle, unfortunately we don't have a pool.
Several Cafes are located near Marvel Stadium, Southern Cross Station and a short walk to Collins Street.
Thank you for your inquiry at Travelodge Docklands.
I am pleased to advise we utilise car parking facilities through Interpark.
The Interpark car park is located next door to the hotel on Mayfield Place & is available for $25.00 per 24 hours.
This rate is a discounted rate for Hotel Guests, and your ticket must be validated at reception for this rate.
Hotel guests may park in spaces on level 1 & 3 without a reserved sign, and must register their vehicle at reception to receive a validation ticket.
As we do not own the car park we do not take reservations, so please see reception when you arrive at the hotel and we will direct you where to park.
King Regards,
The Travelodge Docklands Team
