We had a really great stay. The 2 bed apartment is perfect for a young family and being located next to the Botanical Gardens is ideal for daily walks and playing with the kids. It feels like a home from home and everyone looked after us so well at all times.

Hotel's Favourite
Absolutely loved the hotel, the rooms and the location. I would 100% book here the next time we are in Melbourne. We stayed in a two bedroom room which both rooms had a large ensuites attached to them and ours also had a bath with the view of the botanical gardens. The beds were lovely to sleep in and there was plenty of room for our three children who came with us. You could sit out on a balcony area, which we would have enjoyed if it was a bit warmer. The service and staff were fantastic and always a phone call away. Every morning there was amazing breakfast spread with different pastries each day and the best orange juice in town!! Our place got cleaned every day and the staff were incredibly friendly. We had a car which it was easy enough to find street parking so we never had a problem. The room itself has a stove, toaster, kettle and all the cooking utensils you would need. I would highly recommend this place.

We enjoyed the great location in a hip residential area and the option of not staying in a hotel. Service is great and immediate for any requests, studio was quiet. Loved having a balcony with view of Botanic gardens. Took a while to figure out the lights. One in the LR we just left on overnight as we couldn't find a switch. It was a great city break and would stay there again.

We loved our stay at United Places Botanic gardens. The location of the hotel is fabulous. It was so lovely to wake up to a gorgeous view each morning. Staff were so friendly and kind. We took our 1 year old and she absolutely loved it. The cactus garden in the botanic gardens is a 7 min walk away and is a must see. We also loved being so close to the Tan.

Such a beautiful space, felt just like home but far more luxurious. The bed was amazing with the best mattress I think I've ever slept on. And the shower! huge double head rain shower, need I say more? Great ammenities and Service, super friendly and helpful. Plus you can order room service from the fancy restaurant downstairs! Or if you really want to leave you comfy apartment the staff are more than happy to make you a reservation. Botanical Gardens on your doorstep, cafe's and pubs less than a stones throw. Just perfection. Will be back!

This hotel is just outstanding. From check in welcome to check out farewell it is as good as it gets. The cleanliness and attention to detail ensured nothing was missed. The style is contemporary and warm, the bed is amazing and the lounge area is just made for relaxing. The suite has everything you could want. It has cooking facilities, clothes washing facilities. The location adjacent to the Botanic Gardens is wonderful, it's a short walk into the city and the array of good quality restaurants a few seconds away is amazing. Many of the establishments will deliver food to your suite. United Places certainly sets the benchmark for a perfect hotel.

This was a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, slightly away from the bustle of the city directly opposite the Botanic Gardens, but close enough to tram stops to access all areas easily. We enjoyed the concept of the hotel, and that we could have complete privacy and peace and quiet, but also benefit from all the super-friendly and responsive staff as and when we needed for chats and recommendations! The suite was great; superbly well-equipped and clean and modern. There were a nice range of coffee and restaurant options on the same road. I would find it difficult to stay anywhere else in Melbourne.

Wow, just wow. We just loved our stay here. The suite was impressively designed with just incredible attention to detail. I loved the shower, the fluffy large towels, the view, the handmade ceramic crockery, LaLabo soaps and moisturiser... It's a quiet oasis in a bustling part of Sth Yarra. The staff were lovely and professional. I recommend dining downstairs as well at Matilda (delicious!) and making the most of the botanical gardens across the road. The absolute perfect way to celebrate 20 years of being with my husband. We had a really special weekend at our 'staycation'.

The experience at United Places Melbourne was faultless from start to finish. The room we stayed in (one bed suite) was perfectly proportioned with great facilities including washing machine, combi oven, hob and dishwasher - all provided with appropriate materials and detergents complimentary. The quality and style of the decor was more than matched by the professionalism an personality of all the staff. The receptionists - who doubled as guest concierges - were brilliant. The Hotel Manager was young, cool and engaged. The room servicing staff were also friendly, attentive and did a great job. There was clearly an excellent recruitment strategy to create a like minded team across the board and it really worked; this is arguably the most important thing to get right in the Hotel business. Hotel location was perfect with the Domaine village amenities quite literally on your doorstep - as were the botanical Gardens - and the City within walking distance. As an aside, for those interested in Yoga we would recommend the One studios which are accessible by utilising the Hotels complimentary Tokyo bikes .... just be careful to not ride on the tram lines if you want to stay on your bike! We are looking forward to coming back to Melbourne and UP will be our Hotel destination of choice when we do.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The neighborhood and adjacent botanical gardens are great and it is a short walk to the city center. The hotel is also trying to make up for lack of facilities by offering in-room gym equipment and pastries for breakfast. However, at current rates ($500/ night), the value to money is simply not justified. There is no common area, reception, rooftop, lobby or anything else that would actually make you want to stay in the room. While large, they are dark and impersonal. The building feels like a condo building where the rooms have been turned into rentals. Rooms are sandwiched between buildings (besides a few units facing the street). Whilst this could make sense for a long term stay, at the nightly rates, this does not really make sense. The rooms are also overloaded with tech, which is a great idea in principle but highly impractical. The temperature changes from freezing cold to blazing hot at random (no engineer was able to fix it), electronic curtains (which they unnecessary in the bedroom) open and close; lights would turn on by themselves all night. Again - no one was able to address this so the whole stay was rather restless and uncomfortable. The staff is very friendly but not very flexile. I appreciated the pastry basket in the morning but for an extended stay, it does not make sense to eat a loaf of bread, jam and some yogurt every day - most of it went to waste. Any effort to try to get changes to the did not pan out. At $500/ night - providing some eggs/ healthy options should be an easy thing to do (especially since there is a partnership with a restaurant next door). I was planning to stay longer but checked out and moved to a proper hotel in the business district (10-15mins walk) and had a much better experience. Overall, it was a nice idea but felt like a waste of money. I tried to address this with the manager but no one seemed to take any interest.

Response from Nathan Cowan, General Manager at United Places Hotel Botanic Gardens
Responded 24 May 2023
Dear krobaer, We would like to thank you for choosing to stay at United Places Hotel Botanic Gardens and for taking the time to provide your detailed feedback. It is wonderful to hear you enjoyed our proximity to the Botanic Gardens and the offerings within the Domain Village. The hotel has been designed in a way to craft a mood and to create an experience focused on exclusivity, privacy and calm, with the intention of making United Places Botanic Gardens a place our guests can retreat to and escape the noise and rush of the everyday. I was delighted to have the opportunity to speak with you throughout your stay. It was a pleasure to hear that you were enjoying your time at the property so much that in fact you had requested to extend your stay for an additional night. As we are a boutique property, we at times do have limited availability to extend at short notice, and as we were fully occupied for the requested night, I do apologise that we were unable to fulfill this request. Several issues raised within your review do need to be addressed and I would like to apologise that you faced these difficulties throughout your stay. After speaking with the team, one of our wonderful staff members were able to attend to your suite and assist with your concerns about the air conditioning by adjusting the thermostat mode to ensure your suite was at a comfortable temperature. We do take our guest’s feedback seriously and is used as an instrument to ensure all concerns that are raised are investigated and rectified. I can confirm since your stay we have had an electrician attend to fix your lighting concern within the suite although they did report that there were no issues found. Regarding our continental breakfast, the selection of pastries, granola, yoghurt and fresh juice has received encouraging feedback from other guests. I can appreciate that this may become monotonous after staying multiple nights. We are proud of our in-suite neighbourhood dining menu that has many additional breakfast options available to order at an additional cost. This is the best of Domain Road delivered to your suite. Upon check out, it was my pleasure to meet with you and to discuss your stay. As a small business we as a team pride ourselves on providing a consistently high-level of service and attention to detail, and it brings great disappointment not only to me as the Manager of United Places but also to the team as a whole to hear you felt that we did take any interest in your concerns. Once again, thank you for your feedback. We take the time to respond personally to all feedback, constructive and positive. Please feel free to contact nathan@unitedplaces.com.au if you would like to discuss further. Kind regards, Nathan
