I was pleasantly surprised. Good sized room. Mine had a kitchenette and bath.
It's in a lovely old character home, I kept wondering if it was haunted lol.
The main downsides are the rather thin floors, I could hear the people above me talk and walk around. If you get a room by the road it's a bit noisy. Nothing that earplugs won't fix, but if you are a light sleeper, be aware of this.
Also St Kilda beach is about a 13 minute walk down the road.

I was originally going to award this accommodation a 5 star review because the accommodation standards so superb, the room so spacious, clean with everything on handy. The hotel is just 1 minute walk for tram routes 3, 3a and 67 and 5 minutes walk for tram route 96. The outstanding Customer Service with great skills enabled my 'missing' luggage to have been recovered, what happened was that the 'SkyBus' driver dropped a wrong luggage and then drove off, so I took wrong luggage with me to the hotel, after the check-in process completed, the hotel agreed to contact SkyBus by telephone on an urgency basis (because the SkyBus did not respond to my urgent Twitter messages and that I am unable to use telephones due to the profound hearing loss). Following this, SkyBus swapped luggages at the hotel so a 'missing' luggage was re-united with me!
However, the day before my check-out (going back by SkyBus to the airport), I had an enquiry and SkyBus was only able to be contacted by telephone, a different receptionist was not helpful by merely conveying messages from the SkyBus telling me to e-mail enquiry to the SkyBus's general e-mail address. Then the receptionist apparently crossed its boundary and neutrality by effectively representing SkyBus placing me at a disadvantage as I had been unable to contact SkyBus independently, unless SkyBus was able to respond by e-mails without delays.
The night before checking-out, I was at the reception on settling the bill (due to a very early start) but no one was at the reception, my friend was looking around for a short while and managed to locate the hotel representative so he attended to this.
The day on my 'check-out', again no-one at the reception (otherwise I could have asked where the SkyBus bus stop was) so there was very little time left for the wait so I went into Melbourne by tram and then headed Southern Cross station for SkyBus to the airport.
In light of this, I am now awarding this accommodation a 3 star with friendly tip for the receptionist to have a more empathetic approach with their customers, putting customer needs first and to ensure that at least one receptionist remain at the reception at all times for dealing with on-the-spot enquiries.
Anyway I will definitely come back!

This is the second time for me at this hotel. There are many things that make it suitable, certainly for me.
Firstly the location is good, close to St Kilda Junction and trams to the city and elsewhere. There is a bus that runs down Barkly St that will take you to St Kilda proper.
Secondly, the rooms are good value, spacious enough, good modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water flow, heating (aircon), good wifi, and they are clean and quiet. They have a comfortable bed which provides good sleep.
The only downside is the location does not have too much nearby in the way of places to eat, although the Crest Hotel next door does have a restaurant and coffee shop. There are no close places like a 7-11 to get drinks or snacks, the nearest is a 10 minute walk.
The only other thing I can fault on this stay was the room was in need of some TLC with a few minor repairs needed.
Other than that, this is a good priced hotel offering most of what you will need.

The room was nothing like the photos, old, not clean and below par on maintenance eg, smoke detector on bench not in ceiling holder. I have spoken to and emailed manager with my concerns and I informed them I was posting a negative review, I hope they respond and can rectify the many issues. The reception staff were very professional and working hard to check everyone in and the location is great.

My daughter and her boyfriend had a lovely night out planned in St Kilda at the movies on the beach. (Live on outer edge of Melb) planning not to drink, then drive home after. On the way in they decided to book a room so they could relax and have a couple of drinks. Booked the room online all good. Said there was a security deposit (all good) although deposit didn’t come out when they made payment. Put down check in time as late 12.30 am. When they got there after a great night they were asked for security deposit, all good. They didn’t have enough money and weren’t allowed to pay by PayPal (even though room payment had gone through on PayPal no problems) they called me for credit card details but manager would not take details over the phone. So they paid for a room but had to sleep in the car out the front for a couple of hours before driving home. So I would say customer service was disgusting.

Rooms all smell of smoke. No bed side light. Wrong remote control for tv. Very poor condition and cleanliness. Whole experience was foul. It was expensive too (f1 weekend) £200 a night ! For a foul smelly badly equipped room that wasn’t fit for purpose. Avoid avoid avoid !! Don’t know where the picture they took was taken but certainly wasn’t my room. Similar experiences from other guests.

Awful. TV had to be replaced straight away as it was unwatchable. Bathroom sink and spare blanket were covered in cigarette burns. Room smelt of smoke. On our second night we had to call security as someone was banging violently on the outside door. Room was nothing like the advertising images. Constant flow of visitors to the upstairs room which went on all night every night we were there.
Reception staff were always very pleasant.

Needed a cheap place to stay for AASCF National Comp close to the convention centre but close to other attractions as well
This place was unexpectedly great. 4 night stay with 4 of us it was a great price of under $550 so I expected the accommodation may not be too good. But opened the door to two good size bedrooms with heaps of wardrobe space a nice size lounge area and fully functioning kitchen and a quaint bathroom and toilet. Hot water air conditioning and even a back yard area to hang. Cleaners came everyday and The Crests reception who looks after Como were friendly and helpful.
St Kilda was easy to get around from the hotel and easy to get where we needed for the Comp.
Definitely stay here again. Don’t let the word budget scare you with this place it’s totally fantastic!!!

We took a room outside the main building. Was well equipped, cleaned and was perfectly cleaned every day. They have a gym and laundry service.
Breakfast was not good and some of the staff only ok but still worth the money!

I normally stay at the Crest on Barkly which is next door, but when it is not available, we stay at Como Court.
It is an old house converted to accomodation to suit the price conscious visitor.
It is managed by the Crest; you check into the same reception staff and it is cleaned by the same people. You can use the facilities over available at the Crest.
The rooms tend to be smaller, and the facilities not as modern but having stayed there twice in the last year, I have no complaints.
It is clean, the shower is hot, the fridge cold and the price amazing. 5 days during the Australian Open for less than $400
Don't expect a view from your window is the only other comment to add. Didn't bother me.
