The family had a wonderful time without the stresses that travelling with two young children can have.

2 adults, 2 year old and 3 months baby stayed in a two bedroom apartment looking over the Carlton gardens. The accommodation was close to the Royal Exhibition Centre, the Melbourne Museum and government offices. It was a short walk with 2 children to Lygon Street, Melbourne Museum, Greek restaurants in Lonsdale Street & Emporium shopping centre. We did not use the car from the time we parked it in the hotel carpark to when we left 2 days later. We did not attach our car roof box as the hotel car park is not high enough, this is to be expected in multistorey carparks in Melbourne.

The two bedroom, two bathroom, dining room and living area apartment with balcony was well equipped and spacious. The microwave was used to sterilise baby bottles, full sized freezer and fridge stored all the food that children needed, toaster was used in the morning to make toast and the electric kettle to make tea with the supplied tea and milk. There was a stovetop and oven which we did not use but handy to know for next time.

The living area contained a couch and a large chair which was brilliant to breastfeed in. There was sufficient space on the living room floor for the children to play with their toys. The bath / shower, washing machine and dryer in the main bathroom came in handy with the children.

This is the first time we have stayed at this accommodation property as our previous Hotel had closed due to being sold. We will be back for work and leisure.

We thank the Mantra on the Park for a wonderful stay.

Loved our 16th floor two bed, two bath apartment overlooking the park :) It was perfect for our family of four. Bathrooms have been renovated and things are neat and clean but a little dated. The furniture is old, kitchens basic (bring your own coffee maker). We loved the gym on-site and having the pool and sauna for relaxing after busy Melbourne days. Room service was good and we felt looked after with staff happy to bring extra towels, laundry detergent, tea towels, etc. The Hotel Manager was super helpful when we needed to swap rooms (from pool view to park view) thanks Mantra people.

We love visiting Melbourne in the summer and always stay at Mantra on the Park. The apartments have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen which is so ideal when traveling with kids! Kids love the pool and strolling through the shady gardens across the road which can be a blessing after a big day exploring the city. The grocery store next door is fully stocked with everything you need for meals and snacks and makes putting together quick meals and snacks easy. As a family we always feel welcome and valued as guests and the kids feel like it’s their home away from home.

Stayed in the 3 bedroom penthouse which is so spacious. There were 4 of us sharing the apartment and we didn't get under each other's feet. The location was perfect for us...overlooking the park and we were close to eateries or when short on time dined at the hotel's own restaurant downstairs. The property is close to CBD and transport. Enjoyed our stay.

Rooms were great but the whole floor smelt like urine, did enjoy stay after purchasing scented candles. all you need in the apartments but don't get breakfast, stayed for 6 days never had hot coffee and had to wait every morning for food to be topped up as nothing was there. Poor waitress by her self catering for up to 40 people plates from last guest's left on table. Also look for another carpark before arrival as they want $35 a night

We stayed at the Mantra when we were in Melbourne for the Boxing Day test. The location is perfect if you just want to be a little out of the city, but close enough to walk in. The Mantra is close to Lygon Street and opposite a beautiful garden. We loved the outlook and given it was between Christmas-New Year, when most businesses were shut and people on holidays, it was nice and quiet on the streets and the roads weren't too busy and noisy. The Mantra has everything you need - breakfast, weekend dinners, pool, gym and of course the self contained apartment/hotel. I read other reviews of this hotel before i booked, and most said it was 'dated' and yes, it is an older established hotel but it has everything you need. The price is always going to be high during the 'peak' period, so if you're looking for value for money, then perhaps not at this time of the year. The staff were obliging and the hotel was reasonably full, given that the NZ / Australia cricket test was on - so lots of kiwis and kiwi accents! It was a nice break for us!

Can not speak highly enough of this hotel. All the staff need to be commended on their excellent customer service. We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom parkview apartment and it was fantastic all my requests were met including a king size bed for my daughter.
It was great having the breakfast every morning. Special mention has to go to Arielle and Joyce on the front desk, I was always greeted with a smile and nothing was too much trouble and I can be demanding at times, also Kenneth and Mary are great assets to your hotel. Will definitely stay again.

We booked at the Mantra because of its location for our needs, and to try the new group.
the staff were most helpful upon arrival, check was quick and smooth. Parking access was excellent and the 3 day parking card for coming and going worked without a hitch.
But! on Sunday night we were unable (6.00pm) to obtain room or restaurant service. Most disappointing.
Otherwise all other aspects to our satisfaction.

Thanks to Colin and his team for making our recent stay at Mantra on the Park wonderful! We were very sad to leave as we love staying here. The pool was used often, we enjoyed the daily buffet breakfast, the car parking was easy, kitchenette fully stocked, beds were comfortable, rooms were clean and well maintained. The washing machine and dryer worked well. We had a great view of the Exhibition building in room 1505. The hotel is close to so many things and still out of the main hustle and bustle of the city. Hope to be back! Thanks again!

Stayed for a night in a 2 bedroom park view apartment. Room was clean and tidy and had all the amenities we needed. View out to the gardens from the balcony was nice. Liked that we had two bathrooms as well. We used the swimming pool which was indoors so could be used in the unpredictable melbourne weather any time of year. Staff were friendly and parking was easy. Walking distance to everything and didn’t use the car at all. Would stay here again.

Hi mspoe2013, Mantra began managing the building in 2007, the branding of the property in early 1990's may have been Holiday Inn, but it has been through a few transformations over that time period. There is a onsite cafe that makes incredibly good coffee. Regards Colin Stevenson General Manager

Are you able to see any of the New Years fireworks on the balcony in the room?
Answer from Brett Ando

Mantra on the Park is not a tall building compared to others in the cbd. The fireworks I think are at South Bank so no you’ll not see the fireworks. Good luck!!

Where is the nearest tram station ? How many meters? Tram no?
Melbourne, Australia14 contributions8 helpful votes
To add to the previous answer, the Latrobe Street tram stop (diagonally opposite the hotel foyer) is a stop for the free tourist "City Circle" tram which stops at or near most main CBD and riverside attractions. (This is also a stop for other tram routes out of the main city area but note you will need to buy a Myki card - check with hotel reception - if you are travelling outside the free-travel city zone.) Mantra on the Park is ideal accommodation if you have not previously visited Melbourne. Hope you enjoy our city if you come here!

I think it was around $24 but if you booked in before 11pm the night before it was around $20. There is a cafe in the complex also, where you can grab a coffee & brekkie
