Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The black buffalo rooms are nice but the service I received in the bistro was amazing the young girls that work there made me feel so welcome I am from overseas and you staff are world class people . A big shout out to tremeka and tash for their smile and fun loving attitude they delivered our meals and also made us feel so welcome . Tremeka was lovely although she was busy she still had time to have a chat and help us go through the menu . Tash was always checking if we needed anything and I can see these two girl communicating though out our meal they make a good team . The restaurant was bubbling with happy people and the girls although it was so busy had the table turned over and cleaned so fast . Keep up the good work and we will be sure to tell all our family and friends who visit from new zeland to check you guys out .

I attended your hotel for lunch on Saturday 29th July. I had the pork shoulder; it was slimy, and I had to peel off the covering slime before I could attempt to eat it. The vegetables were limp and tasted like they had been sitting in covered saucepan waiting to be served. We had to wait for over 2 hours for our meal even though we had booked previously. I could only see 2 other small tables in the restaurant so could not understand the wait. The was one waitress, short blonde hair which was polite to everyone, but the other staff were rude, and I am sorry we wasted their time when I'm sure they would rather be elsewhere. I will not be coming back unless a new chef and most of the restaurant staff are replaced.

Comfortable, basic accomodation at a reasonable price, compared to rest of overpriced places in Hobart. Comfortable beds, and there is adequate parking, bistro onsite. Not much of a view as our room overlooked carpark and houses across road. There is a woolies, and other eating places within walking distance.

We stayed for 2 nights and found the venue was conveniently located and had free parking. Our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Evening meals were available ìn the restaurant and as it is a popular venue, it was necessary to book ahead to ensure a table. The main disadvantages were that the rooms were up stairs and secondly, breakfasts were not available in the dining room due to a lack of staff but a continental breakfast could be ordered the night before to enjoy in your room.

I had a great sleep. The room was pretty good although could do with a little updating. Simple easy cosmetics like updating tap ware would help from brown nana style chunky taps to something a little more modern. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were nice. The curtains created a good block out. The shower is super temperamental and the difference between scolding and cold is half a millimetre turn of the tap. The reception staff were absolutely lovely. I arrived late so ordered Uber eats as the kitchen had closed. I’d stay here again and would recommend it.

Had several meals at the Black Buffalo on a recent stay in Hobart. All the staff are friendly & knowledgeable, engaging in some friendly banter while showing us to our table, taking drinks & food orders. The young guy in the bottle shop provided some great wine selections for our stay at home nights. We did not stay at the hotel, but were treated like return guests. Recommend for a no fuss meal or a few drinks after touring around.

The rooms here are clean and fairly modern. The one I was in had a small patch that was being repaired/painted, but was otherwise in good condition. It's not the most central location - if you want to walk to Salamanca Markets, it's roughly a 35 minute walk, but only a 7 minute drive. The only down side to my stay was the food - it's really ordinary, especially for the price. I would almost go as far as saying it was awful, but maybe that's a touch harsh. All in all, it represents very good value for money as a place to stay - I just wouldn't eat here.

City side room was large and modern. Nice comfy bed great shower lot's of hot water and great pressure. A short stroll up the hill is Pie Face grabbed a large flat white in the morning for $2. 17 min walk into the cbd. Would be a good base to see Hobart and surrounds at a great price. I did not eat there but all accou s meals and service are great. Be mindfull though that most rooms are up a small flight of stairs.

We stayed in a queen room which was very large, clean (including bathroom), with tea, coffee, biscuits, sugar, milk, bathroom amenities, kettle and toaster. Very comfortable with air con, table and chairs, bar fridge, microwave, everything you could need (excluding utensils), which was exceptional value for our 4 night stay. Short set of stairs to rooms. Staff in hotel and restaurant/bar fantastic, including accommodating us for an extra night last minute, when hotel almost to capacity. Would definitely stay again!!
