Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place was a real find on our recent visit to Hobart. Just far enough out of the centre of Hobart to be quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to walk to many of the attractions. A short drive to the restaurants and supermarket in Sandy Bay, and easy walking distance from the heritage homes etc of Battery Point, the location is very convenient. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the bed very comfortable. There was also ample free parking, which was a bonus for Hobart, where every available car space is metered to within an inch of its life! Highly recommended.

We stayed in one place for our 10 day holiday. The location is very handy to everything - fantastic restaurants and tours and shopping and Salamanca Markets. Quiet rooms, very comfy beds, serviced everyday by friendly helpful staff. We had everything we needed to make our own meals with - the local produce is inspiring

All transactions, guidance and correspondance with reception was top notch, efficient, reliable and clear. This gives a good sense of security, and motivated my 10 day reservation. I have occupied 2 different rooms: one on the 2nd floor with a balcony looking into the parking, and the other on the ground floor with a walled patio completely private. The absence of view gives a feeling of a drive-in motel. Both rooms have an old style decor and lighting, not the minimalist monochrome design as in the pictures. Everything was very functional: the kitchen equipment, the high quality maintenance, the daily service. The reception is not attended after 20:00; one night, at 23:00, my key was demagnetised, it was easy to call the staff on-call who dispatched a security guard to open the door for me in 30 mn. St Ives stands out when its price is compared with other facilities. I don't regret having stayed there. In fact, it was so convenient that I decided to returned for 3 more days, 1 week later, after a tour. The reception accepted to keep my suitcase the whole time. Thank you St Ives.

It has been a pleasure to stay at this hotel. The gentleman at the desk went above and beyond to help us organise transport to the airport. He also gave us great suggestions on things to do around the city. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. Beds are comfy. Great stay

We had three nights at this motel. Booked it as it was in Battery Point and somewhere we wanted to walk around and very close to Salamanca and the waterfront. Check in was easy with friendly staff. The room was lovely and much nicer than I thought it would be. Unfortunately we were on the bottom floor so we didn’t have any view of the surrounds but didn’t matter as we just walked around and saw everything anyway. It was very clean, and there was housekeeping every day. Quiet and so close to walking everywhere. Bed was very comfortable and they let us leave our hire car after we checked out so we could walk to Salamanca markets. A must stay.

We liked this hotel. They offered room service daily even though their name said "apartment". Room is big and with terrace. Very warm room ventilation in cold weather. Helpful staff offered quite some advice on dining and sightseeing. Free city map offered as well. A$6 washing machine available for you suitable for longer stays. Free parking as well. Bed is comfortable. No liquid soap tho, so we use shampoo instead.

As this was on the edge of Battery Point, it was walking distance to the city as well as close to to Sandy Bay. We had found a couple of great restaurants in Sandy Bay and in walking distance. The rooms were comfortable and we had parking right outside our room.  It is a great place for a walk as it has some interesting homes and views from here.  Staff were friendly and rooms were comfortable. What more could you ask for?

We were given a room on the 2nd floor and had a balcony, which was really good. The room was clean and fits the description on the website. Parking on site is a first come first served basis and you may have to park elsewhere if the hotel apartment is booked out. The water pressure in the shower is really good and that's definitely a plus. Location is very good, just a 7min walk to the Salamanca Market, although you have to double that time walking back because of the uphill roads. Close to eateries and shops for groceries.

In an overall sense this place was great - awesome location, very friendly staff, clean and quite well equipped, pretty good Internet, comfy beds, nice views and really excellent parking. The bottle shop next door is also pretty handy. It's an unusual building - looks like it was supposed to be art deco, but doesn't have the trimmings. I would have rated it 5 stars, but two really glaring issues that cost them one star each in my assessment: 1) the TV was so old it didn't support high definition channels, so half of the local stations don't work. In 2023 that's almost inconceivable in a hotel where you pretty much expect a smart TV nowadays. 2) the room we had was really noisy, from noisy plumbing, banging/squeaky doors and people walking around upstairs. That was all really surprising as it's a very solid building that has clearly been there for some time. They're fixable issues that wouldn't cost much, so I hope the management take this as constructive feedback. I'd consider staying there again even with these issues, but I'd look for a room higher up and away from lifts, entrances etc.

Great location and easy walk to Salamanda area, waterfront and market. Also Battery Point historic area. The apartment was clean tidy and spacious. We were on the ground floor. It was quiet and easily accessible. Plenty of off street parking.
