This hotel met all of our expectations, it was superb. All of the staff were lovely and very helpful with advice, booking things or providing umbrellas in the showery rain. The hotel itself is stunning, with a great combination of preserving the historic nature of the buildings and providing all the modern luxuries one expects in a 5 star hotel. We were lucky enough to have one of the very few rooms with a balcony and loved our view over the harbour from it. The room was very spacious and comfortable with a fabulous large spa bath and separate shower. The art throughout the hotel is great to look at and enjoy as you are wandering around. If anything the hotel is probably due a refurb soon as some of the furniture was starting to show its age and the bed was quite saggy and therefore not very comfortable. The IXL Long Bar (reviewed separately) was superb and a highlight of our stay.…
Stayed here for two nights in March in an enormous room with fantastic waterfront views from the large windows. Room was furnished with a queen sized bed (very comfortable), a two seater lounge, a desk with two chairs, a very small round coffee table, a chest of drawers upon which sat the flat screen TV, a Nespresso machine with pods and a standing lamp. There were two wall mounted reading lamps on either side of the bed but no bedside tables or really any room on the bed head to store anything. This was due to the fact that there was a storage area between the wall and the back of the bed. There was hanging space and an iron in this storage space but it was very inconvenient having to place everything from reading material to glasses on the floor beside the bed. Another issue was a lack of power points. We eventually found some in the storage space between the bed and the wall but these were below a shelf so you had to get down on your hands and knees to excess them to be able to charge phones etc. The bathroom was also very large with a good sized vanity and a large walk in shower with two rainwater shower heads. Shower pressure was excellent. WIFI was included and worked very well. Our room, our bathroom and the corridors and common areas of the hotel were very clean. Our package also included valet parking. Staff at reception both at check in and check out were friendly and efficient.…
Henry Jones Art Hotel is a beautiful place to stay. Stunning rooms, good food, an art tour with a glass of sparkling wine. Coffee machine in the room is a nice touch so many forget. All part of the beautiful setting in the old IXL jam area. Make sure you book ahead if you want to eat at Landscape's Restaurant.
Expected so much more from our stay... the building is beautiful, but as with any old structure, it is not without its faults. Rooms very noisy... plumbing sounds very loud during peak hours (not much management can do about that). Service just ok... we had an issue with our room TV... it took numerous calls and one full day to get it fixed, and even then we couldn't access paid movies. Something so simple should not be so hard. Location is the biggest win for this hotel... and the FREE valet parking.
We stayed here for 4 nights in a deluxe harbour view spa room. A fantastic room - really large, views of the harbour, king bed and large spa bath. Being a converted jam factory it is a really unique design, filled with character but still very high end. Bath robes and slippers are included in the room along with the usual coffee and a well stocked mini bar. Lovely bar on the ground floor filled with some really good Tasmanian options. There are more gin distilleries per capita in Tasmania then anywhere else in Australia (heaps to try!). Complimentary valet parking was a great benefit. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but did get room service breakfast. It was okay but not great (but room service tends to be that). Hotel is in a really great location. Super convenient to a lot of attractions and restaurants. Service wasn’t bad but probably not as good as it should be for a hotel of that quality. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends. A must stay! Tip for travelling to Hobart - book restaurants before you go. They are super hard to get into which was unexpected!…
