Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked this holiday late last year for six nights. Looking up details before departing we noticed that all reviews in January were extremely critical. On arrival we mentioned this to the friendly staff in reception and stated that we would pay for one extra day and if everything was OK we would pay for the other four. She did say that if we didn’t pay then that she could not guarantee the room would be available. We had a peaceful night and in the morning we decided that we would stay the extra nights. There was no one on reception at 8am when we left so left a note asking for the next four nights. On our return in the afternoon we were informed that the Saturday night was booked but we could have the next three nights. We declined and booked into the nearby Travel Lodge. The room is small has a wardrobe, tv, air conditioning, fridge and the wifi is excellent. Both bedroom and bathroom are in need of sprucing up but were clean. A drawback is that both have windowbricks which allows in light but you cannot see out and cannot access fresh air. Friday night into the early hours of the morning there was a constant thump from a nearby club - a good set of ear plugs would solve the problem. I imagine Saturday would be the same. The hotel is ideally placed for cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs and places of interest. Putting it into perspective the hotel is just one star but considering it is less than half the cost of other hotels is value for money. Would we stay there again - probably not.

These small but clean and neat rooms with en-suite are up a narrow staircase. No lift or other way up and down. No external fire escape or other way out or the building. Situated above a restaurant so a high fire risk. Not sure how they even pass public building standards.

No windows only glass bricks.

Great location
Cheap
Great air con.

The room was clean, although showed signs of wear, age and perhaps some ‘abuse’. The bed was comfortable, the TV and aircon worked and the shower was good. Minimal otherwise. Furniture old and not in great repair, but okay. Tea/coffee UHT milk and a couple of mugs. No spoons etc. Location very good being no more than around 15 minute walk to anywhere in Hobart CBD. Very noisy due to being on a main road. Rooms on 2nd and 3rd floors and only reached by stairs. Reception open from 2.00 …. for a while. All locked up and only guests in the building at night. Publicity photos are very kind to the reality. But, definitely budget and generally 2.0 to 2.5 star and I had more to spend on the tourist stuff.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! We booked for 2 nights but only stayed 1...it was just horrific! Could not get out of there quick enough! Room was filthy! Mould in the shower and in the hand basin, windows are glass bricks and there is no way to let any fresh air in, we had half a toilet roll and had to ask for another one. There is a restaurant down stairs but no clear way escape if a fire broke out. Rooms are tiny, claustrophobic and substanded!!

We had booked our road trip round Tassie holiday well in advance but had a last minute family illness which prompted us to nearly have to cancel everything. Adequate recovery meant the trip was back on, 2 days out. We we’re left with little choice of affordable family accommodation in Hobart for our first night before getting our camper so picked this place. Bad move. Situated upstairs from an Asian restaurant it is noisy, bathroom shocking and was unclean. There is no separate room control for heating, curtains falling off the glides, open partition to rooms. For $240 a night you’d expect more. There wasn’t even a teaspoon!
We are posting this before the nights end but with a pub next door doubt it’ll get better. Can’t wait to get into the camper

After having been told my flight is cancelled, therefore unable to fly to Tasmania the night I was supposed to, Harringtons102 also informs me I cant be refunded for a nights accomodation that I physically cant get to! The chosen words were “but just too bad”. You really must be struggling… Zero compassion for a single traveler. Company Policy does not mean you cant refund, it just means you wont! Absolutely disgusting customer service. Good luck surviving with service like that..

No reception a very basic room with two single beds which is ok but may $142 for the night is way over the odds.
Worst part was that someone came into my room (103) through an open (broken) window at 1.00am.
Scared the life out of me.
Looking at the other reviews my theory is that homeless people know there is a room that’s accessible with a bed, toilet, shower which they use. They leave their hair in the bed, remnants (love that word from another TA review) in the toilet etc and the guy who runs the place has no idea as he’s cleaned the room and thinks there is no one using it???
Looks to me like the place is on its last legs and recommend you avoid if at all possible.

We are 3 sisters in our 70’s. O our arrival we were told there was parking, there wasn’t. Then informed we would have to walk up three flights of stairs with our luggage. Our room slept four, there were on 2 cups, 2 glasses, no teaspoons. There was a toaster but no plates or cutlery. The kettle had to be filled 1 cup at a time from a tiny basin in the bathroom. The kettle would not turn off. The soap holder was hanging off the wall. The beds, well they had springs that you could feel every time you moved and so low we had to help each other up. Really disappointed when we asked about getting help with our bags on checkout, yes someone would be there to help and you guessed it, there was nobody in sight, so had to lug them down ourselves. The website is so misleading. Luxury hotel it is not!!!!

Grubby, bordering on dirty. Marks around door handles, on walls and floors in public places dirty. Compact rooms are an understatement 2 people can barely move in them. Misinformation on their website regarding pricing.

No spoons in room for tea/coffee. Absolutely no attention to detail

Disgustingly dirty. We booked a twin room and because I snore I slid the bed across the floor to be as far as possible from my daughter. Big mistake! There was food, dust bunnies and a dirty towel under the bed! The bathroom smelt terrible. It was relatively clean but there was a stench coming up from the floor and basin drains. Well at least it was cheap, relatively. Although I am never coming back
