Travelodge Hotel Hobart is often commended for its prime location in the heart of the city, offering guests easy access to local attractions, though it comes with a caveat of occasional traffic noise. While the rooms are hailed for their cleanliness and recent updates, their size, especially the bathrooms, receives some criticism for being on the snug side. The hotel's staff is frequently lauded for their cordiality and readiness to assist, adding to the hotel's appeal. Despite some dated aspects of the decor, the array of amenities, including kitchenettes and laundry facilities, along with the overall cleanliness, contribute positively to guests' experiences. However, noise can sometimes be an issue, with reports of disturbances from the streets and other guests.

The hotel is conveniently located, making it easy to access key parts of the city. However, the room could use some updates— the carpet is worn, and the toilet seat and bathtub are stained, which could be replaced with minimal effort. As for the buffet breakfast, it's not worth the $20; you'd be better off grabbing some bread and spreads from Woolworths and preparing a simple meal in your room. On the bright side, the staff are friendly, which adds a positive touch to the overall experience.

Well situated within walking distance to Salamanca, the dock area, shops, restaurants and cafes. Parking is reasonable at $15 per night and we were lucky enough to park on site. We received a warm welcome and directed to our room on the second floor. The room was a reasonable size, bed very comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We didn’t book in for breakfast so can’t comment there. Now, I did book the cheaper Compact Queen room. We only needed to sleep so didn’t really need anything else. Sadly, I didn’t sleep the first night. There was a constant hum all night as though someone was using machinery or idling their car. I tossed and turned and after stuffing cotton wool in my ears I managed a couple of hours sleep. In the morning I looked out of the window to find the noise came from a bank of air conditioning fans attached to the IBIS next door. There was no way I could spend our second night in that room!! I went to reception and explained my plight. The staff on duty on the morning of the 22nd of December were so helpful. I think the hotel was fairly heavily booked but they kindly moved us to the 6th floor well away from the fans. I was very grateful and had a great sleep the second night. We would recommend the Travelodge as a convenient property and a reasonably priced one.

Pros: The location was very good with excellent customer service. The receptionists were all friendly (especially the young and good-looking Asian guy with glasses) and fixed problems whenever you asked. However, I would have liked to see the problems fixed before. Our room was spacious and had a microwave which was quite convenient for us. The city view from our room was pretty good.

Cons: We were staying on the 4th floor. The carpet in our room needed to be vacuumed more often (at least every other day) as I could feel some fleas jumping on my feet. According to extensive studies conducted at Ohio State University, vacuuming is indeed an effective way of getting rid of fleas! Through these studies, scientists discovered that vacuuming killed 96% of adult fleas from carpets and 100% of the flea pupae and larvae. On top of that, our housekeeper should have paid more attention to the hygiene. I put a dirty fork in the kitchen sink cos I was planning to do the washing-up later. Yet,the housekeeper put the dirty fork back to our drawer without washing/cleaning it! I could still see the dirt on the fork!! Please see the above photo(photo evidence). What's even worse, the dirty fork was put on the clean teaspoons in the drawer!

On another note, please see the above photos. Shampoo in our bathroom should have been refilled with shampoo instead of water...

We had a last minute booking here because of a power outage at home. They had a great rate on their website for members of the eClub which we joined on the spot. This also gave us a free bottle of wine at check in. They gave us a lovely corner room with 2 windows and great views of the water and the city. Parking is $15 and their own carpark was full. But they have an arrangement with Secure Parking nearby. We liked the new refurbished room which was very comfortable. We would stay again.

We stayed 3 nights in early January 2024 and found our room ready for us when we arrived a little before the official check in time.
The staff were friendly and approachable, and we took up the offer of breakfast (booked up to the evening before for $20pp, or $25 for walk ins), which was good value for money with a selection of hot and cold items.
Our room was not the most spacious, especially as we had a lot of luggage with us, but it didn't impact us as we spent little time in it apart from sleeping - and the beds (we had a twin room) were very comfortable.

The hotel's location was very convenient for access to the CBD, the harbour, and restaurants.

If you have a chance get the more upstairs rooms, as they gave me a room on the second floor and there was no glass for the shower and water went everywhere when I showered. The internet kept having to be renewed. They charged me more money for the walk-in ($25) breakfast service instead of the standard $10. There is not good ventilation in the rooms either you have to open the window constantly. The staff helped me out with a few problems in a roundabout way, like allowing me to change room, explaining how we did laundry and where we had breakfast as well as allowing me to purchase breakfast from the hotel.

We would like to apologise for the the bathroom design and the inconvenience caused by this matter during your stay. However, we do our absolute best to display our rooms and offerings on our website and we do apologise if we were unable to meet your expectation. Good location in Hobart city centre. Rooms recently refurbished so clean, but they are small and the bathrooms are tiny. Also, there are no safes in the room, which considering how much tech people have with them is poor and inconvenient - you can only leave passports or money with reception for safe keeping. Staff happy to let us change rooms when asked and also fixed a broken window opener quickly. The buffet breakfast was good.
