Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mo is the most friendliest person I’ve ever met in Tasmania when it comes to hospitality and making people feel welcome! He delivered a service to my girlfriend and I without question a man of his word 🙏 He even kept the heater warm for us before we entered the room on a cold, cold day! Not only this but Dark Mofo and the car hire place is only a 800m walk! Amazing spot!

Mo the manager is outstanding and gives this place its warm, homely, efficient, quiet feel. Great service, very knowledgeable and all with a smile. Everything is smooth. Very good value. Well equipped kitchen. Clean rooms - everything you need really.

Narrara Backpackers is a little cozy hostel in the heart of Hobart! I liked the place a lot, and I had an amazing stay. Pros: - Mo, the manager, is the greatest and he does take care of everyone! - The bed I had was so comfortable I would always want to fall asleep whenever I'd lie down. - Place is clean. - Has a kitchen, laundry area, and TV room - Many cafes around the area, restaurants a slight walk away - Close to one of the airport Skybus pick up points (along Collins Street) Cons: - A bit of a walk from the city - and the road isn't flat (can be difficult for those with mobility issues) - Place has many stairs (it's a house converted to a hostel), so again, might be difficult for those with mobility issues - Wifi doesn't always reach the rooms - Other necessities are not as accessible and are a bit of a walk away, like groceries. Despite the few little cons, I had an amazing stay, and I really felt at home!

Narrara is a short walk from the airport Skybus. Located a couple of streets from CBD, eateries etc. The place has a great atmosphere - interesting people from all over the world who all seem ready to chat and share helpful advice. The manager, Mo, is relaxed, friendly and helpful. His influence drives the cool vibe. Narrara has the cleanest kitchen of any backpackers I've been in. Highly recommended

I’ve been to Tasmania in December 2019 for 5 weeks and always came back to Hobart / Narrara Backpackers before heading off to some outdoor stuff. The hostels as such has all you can expect in this price range. What made me come back (4 times) was the comparatively central location and the friendliness and support I received (e.g. bag deposit) while staying there. Mo and his team create a very nice atmosphere and you just feel welcome and at home! Thanks a lot for being so straightforward and supportive and all the best wishes for you in these crazy times!

The hostel owner is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hostel is clean and the kitchen is a good size with a fair amount of storage. The living area is a bit odd in the front reception and there seem to be quite a few people living there permanently. We just stayed for 1 night in a double room and it was pleasant enough.

Mo the Manager looked after us incredibly well from the moment we arrived. Lovely central location and nice cosy rooms! Nice facilities, luggage storage and common area too! Because of Mo's helpfulness we extended and stayed an extra night. Thanks :)

I stayed in Narrara with my sister and friend and it was such an amazing opportunity for us to meet Irene and Mo at reception. They were the loveliest people and gave us amazing service. Although the backpackers is a little worn out, it was still a nice comfy space. The biggest downside was that it's a bit of a walk to and from the city centre but I was worth it for its price!
