In general I liked Hadleys. I stayed for 10 days. I probably would stay here again in future if it was a good price but not for what I paid recently. It’s a very very old hotel but has a lot of charm. The room I had was tiny bit served it’s purpose. My bed was like an absolute cloud. I got a good night sleep most nights. Loved my bed. In general front desk staff were lovely except when I was checking out. Was very unimpressed by a new trainee who was trying to make me rush when I had a long bill I was trying to read through In which I found an error. He just kept wanting my card to pay for it when I hadn’t even checked my bill. I wanted the opportunity to check through it first and I’m glad I did. He was trying to rush me and no one else was waiting. I had a few meals at the restaurant. The food I had was absolutely delicious! The wait staff were few and far between and difficult to get service at times, but all my meals were delicious. I struggled with how dark my room was. It needed a proper light in the centre of the room. Lamps are not enough. It was too dark for me. The room was tiny but I managed. It was more the darkness of the room that got to me. I think breakfast should start a little earlier. I couldn’t have breakfast as my day tours picked me up about 15 min after breakfast began. The cane blanket box was annoying. I bumped into it a lot in the middle of the night and I left Hobart with bruises on my legs from where I’d bumped into it a lot. I couldn’t charge my phone at my bed and had to leave it on the floor. PowerPoints were in weird places. When my alarm went off every morning I had to physically get out of bed to get my phone off the floor. I could only have a proper hot shower at 5am. I learnt that after 3 days that was the only time I could get a hot shower. Any other time I got luke warm at best. I know the plumbing is old but it was freezing and I wanted a hot shower each day. While it was good to have a fridge in the room it was noisy and it would keep me awake some nights. In general hadleys is a good hotel. My bed was amazing as was the food I had, but everything else was pretty average and I think some changes need to be made. Particularly with lighting and power points.…
Spent 3 days at this hotel, loved the feel and atmosphere, staff were polite and friendly. Room extremely clean and bed comfortable. The continental breakfast was excellent. The hotel location was perfect. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Hobart. I mentioned on booking it was our wedding anniversary and staff left a note and chocolate so very thoughtful.
Stayed 4 nights at the Orient and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful heritage building. Staff were always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great and the dining room beautiful. The Bed was comfortable too. Location was perfect for us with the Constitution Dock and the Salamanca area just a 5 minute stroll away. Also, the shopping district was just outside the front door. We'll be back for sure as there is much more we wish to do and see in Hobart/Tasmania.
Beautiful Hotel, fabulous location and friendly staff. This place has it all. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Hobart. Close to Salamanca and the waterfront restaurants and bars. The rooms are just lovelly.
what a wonderful old building, the owners have kept the old original theme although a bit modernised, wonderful friendly staff and service. we especially loved the little bits of historical info displayed around the building. we would stay there again anytime.
