We live several hours from Hobart and we arrived in peak hour on a Friday night Jeff was so helpful in getting us a parking spot and helping us unload in the rain.
My partner is about to have a knee replacement surgery and Jeff was solicitous and assisted her into the property and up some stairs out of the rain.
All of this with a smile and a helping hand.
We registered with ease and Jeff showed us to a delightfully appointed room on the ground floor with a corner view of Elizabeth and Warwick Streets.
Like Jeff's welcome, the room was instantly warm.
We were visiting Hobart to see a play.
Jeff assisted with dinner arrangements and gave us the local cab company phone number to make our dining and entertainment run smoothly.
We left early and were unable to partake of The Lodge continental breakfast.
we won't miss that opportunity next time.

Anyone looking for a home away from home, this is your place. Look no further. Jeff and Julie were incredibly generous and made me feel so welcome. The rooms were extremely clean and tidy, comfy beds and a welcoming classic feel to the rooms. In the front guest room, Jeff provides a little “help your self” port station in a room filled with books, board games, fire place and a feeling of peace and contentment. There is a beautiful garden out the back for some serenity. Could not recommend this place more. 10/10!! Will certainly be coming back next time when I visit Hobart.

Highly recommended. Great personalised service that you just don’t get at a big chain hotel. The room was quiet and very comfortable with everything I needed, and I appreciated the parlour where I could read a book and have a cuppa in style. The location is hard to beat, with a range of bars, cafes and restaurants within easy reach. Not to mention an excellent cinema just up the road.

This accommodation did not measure up to the descriptions as we were led to believe. although situated in a very old historic home you stay in one bedroom with bathroom attached. there are approximately 20 stairs to the front of the building and eight at the rear of the building which are extremely difficult to access. The 4 brass bed was uncomfortable and the room was squashy. The old furniture was not accommodating and kitchen utensils were limited. I think it was expected that we would purchase the breakfast component.

Our stay was for two nights, Friday & Saturday. The accommodation was well situated, with restaurants a short walk away on either side. We appreciated the lounge room where guests could relax with access to tea/coffee and a port beside a cosy fireside. There was also an outside garden at the rear, which would be relaxing in warmer weather. Jeff was accommodating with information on the area and city. The room (and bed) was comfortable with a good size ensuite, although the traffic was noisy during the night, maybe being a weekend, and our room was on the side near the intersection.

After reading reviews I wonder did we all stay at the same place or is upstairs different to down stairs ? The only clean items in our room was the linen thankfully
Toilet pubic hair and urine around the base too frightened to turn on spa after seeing toilet. The hand basin had rusted legs and too small. thick dust in most places as for the bed I slept on the couch it was more comfortable our room certainly didn’t feel like a heritage listed building
As for Jeff nice bloke full of knowledge.
Obviously parking is issue with locals first in wins even with the permit. We have stayed all over Hobart but we left very disappointed this time.

A group of 4 of us spent our first 2 nights of a Tasmanian holiday staying at Jeff's great lodge. The first impressions on entering the place are the ambience in keeping the old style grace and atmosphere of the property. It is a great place to stay with every detail beautifully done. The bedrooms are spotless with beautiful touches. Also the front lounge is nice to sit in with a complimentary glass of port to end the day. The dining room is full of charm and a good variety of cold foods plus toast and crumpets etc. being served. A handy location with free parking on the side street complete the picture.

I will stay here again! Central to all you want to do in Hobart, but not too close to the daily grind. Old building is in excellent condition, very comfortable and well furnished. Reception is super helpful, provided a free street-parking pass and advice on restaurants and activities.

Next time we'll bring the kinds and stay in the cabin.

Warm welcome by the owner, last minute arrival but a very charming room was available. Old building with character and very well maintained. Possibility of parking on the street with unlimited duration thanks to the pass received. Perfect location, large number of restaurants within 5 minutes walk and city center around 10-15 minutes walk.

What a wonderful place!
Situated right in the heart of Hobart, this charming hotel is a real find!
Jeff greeted us at the door, and showed to the drawing room while he attended to another guest who arrived just before us.
The drawing room was full of books, comfortable old fashioned sofas with tea and complimentary port on offer. There was also a beautiful dining room across the hall.
Our room (#10) was perfect for us and our son, with a very comfortable queen and single brass bed and charming antique furnishings. Scrupulously clean, just lovely.
The modern bathroom featured a spa bath (#10 has the largest bathroom at the hotel).
