My sister booked this for our 4 day trip to Hobart and it was a great choice. It’s in a perfect location for getting to know the city, with everything we wanted within walking distance. Our room was a loft, with a great kitchen, dining and sitting area downstairs and twin beds on the mezzanine level. There was a washing machine and separate dryer in the spacious bathroom, which had a tub as well as a shower. There were great views of the harbour from the balcony as well as several restaurants more or less on the doorstep. If I ever come back to Hobart, I would definitely stay here again.

Stunning absolute water front views from our room. This hotel was kept spotlessly clean, and our room was no exception. Polite, efficient and attentive staff ensured that every small request was met quickly and with a smile.
We walked everywhere. restaurants, theatre, shops, the Salamanca market, The Art Gallery and Museum, the ferry to MONA, all within a 5 minute walk.
The room as said was kept amazingly clean. It was comfortably furnished complete with a working kitchen (Stove top, cooking utensils, fridge and dishwasher), and the bathroom had a washing machine and dryer behind the door.
If I had to fault anything, I would have preferred the bathroom to be on the same level as the bedroom (bedroom is in an upstairs loft).
A very enjoyable stay and would definitely consider this hotel again.

This is great accommodation, has everything provided, and is walking distance to all local attractions and CBD. Be aware that there are stairs going up to the bedroom and you will have to carry your luggage up and the toilet is downstairs. It is also important to know that the shower is in the bath so you will need to be able to climb in and out of the bath. We were originally in a room that was located on the opposite side of the marina and were kept awake until 3am by loud music coming from a night club. We asked for another room and were asked to pay extra as it was classed as an upgrade. After already paying $300 per night we were shocked but a good night sleep was more important to us.

The Somerset on the Pier was just lovely.
Cleanliness was of a high standard
Check in/out was quick and hassle free
Views and location just incredible
Travel around Hobart was easy on the local bus service.
Some trips are not running yet but we managed to book Mt Wellington and a boat trip to Ironpot with only the 2 of us on. Could not fault the boat trip, well worth it. BIG RED bus unfortunately is not running yet though.

The big positive for this property is its terrific location in the historic docks area of Hobart and the wonderful view from the room. The staff are also friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, that’s where the main positives of the property end.

Our room was a premier room and for the relatively high cost, we were disappointed, apart from the view. For a start, the room was not very clean, especially the carpets and furniture. The room’s amenities were poor - there is only a two ring cooktop and no oven, the fridge is very small and only a very basic number of towels was supplied. We had a couple of maintenance issues with the room, but these were not fixed.

Like many properties these days, despite being called “serviced” apartments, servicing is no longer automatic or daily, although can be had on request. Covid is used as an excuse but this is a cop-out: staff could surely wear gloves and masks for a start. I suspect it is a cost-cutting measure that negatively impacts on the quality of one’s stay.

Interior lighting was poor and there is heating but no air conditioning. This wasn’t a problem during the cool weather of our stay, but I can imagine in summer these rooms would be very hot, especially at night with the bed upstairs on a mezzanine (also a problem if you find stairs difficult). The bathroom is on the lower floor, not as an ensuite to the sleeping area.

We were at the “quiet” end of the building and I would suggest potential guests request a room away from the restaurants, which are directly under one end of the building and would undoubtedly be very disturbing if you were staying directly above them. Even where we were staying, the noise could be heard.

There are only a very limited number of parking spots outside on the pier, otherwise public parking is for two hour periods during the day which could create problems.

Given the location, this property could be so much better!

From booking this accommodation through to our check out was a seamless experience.
The room was clean and comfortable. The beds were extremely comfy and the selection of pillows on the bed was great for the poor sleeper.
Location on the pier right in the thick of Hobart's main attractions and shopping/restaurants and Salamanca Markets was fantastic.
Yes you could hear your neighbours in their room a little but when you have so much to do you are hardly in your room except to sleep anyway.
The kitchenette was handy and was well equiped. Parking was not an issue as there are 23 car parking spaces around the hotel and also overnight public spaces to use between 10 pm and 8 am for free.
We will definitely be back to stay.

Great location, right on the Pier and marina.
We stayed in a family room- across 2 levels. Master bedroom , with Tv and ceiling fan, second bedroom also upstairs though open mezzanine layout with 2 single beds. 2 way bathroom with shower.
Downstairs- kitchenette with fridge, kettle, microwave and dishwasher, a lounge room with TV on wall, bathroom with shower over bath as well as washing machine and dryer. Small round dining table , couch and coffee table. Couch though not very comfortable.Small minibar but very very limited and nothing healthy.
Heating and cooling unit.
The main negative is that we could hear noise etc from adjoining units.
Parking is available along marina and requires a permit- open and on the street , not protected or secure.

Views sideways across the water however only a window view so unable to see water when sitting.
Location is great and so many shops, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance , as us Salamanca.
A nice place to stay though more expensive than local hotels .

We stayed at Somerset on the Pier for my wife's birthday and our anniversary when visiting Hobart. It is a great central location with plenty of dining and drinking options basically at the doorstep. Only a short walk to the Hobart CBD and most tours start at very nearby locations.

Probably the only negative is that the hotel could do with a refurbishment of the rooms, they are getting a bit worn and tired. If the premises were done up it would probably be the best in Hobart.

We recently stayed at Sumerset on the Pier for the second time. We love watching the boats, the sunrise and sunset and sitting with a glass of wine on the balcony. (Worth paying more for the rooms that face the fishing boats.) We love the location, you can walk to all major attractions, for example Salamanca Place, Battery Point, the ferry to MONA. The bedroom is upstairs and so I would recommend the hotel to people who are independently mobile and are wanting something different from your average hotel room. All staff were friendly.

Great place to stay and explore Hobart. Apartment was very well presented. Clean neat and big enough for our whole family - including 2 teenagers !! Very convenient location - within walking distance to most and if you purchase a hop in hop off bus ticket - you can literally get anywhere in Hobart. Highly recommended!!
