We arrived before Xmas day and were greeted by lovely staff and management. Our room was large with upstairs being our bedroom with the antique furniture and lots of room for your suitcases to open up and not be on top of each other. The bed and pillows were THE BEST!! Downstairs was the bathroom with a fabulous shower and...

I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy and I cannot even get myself to give it one star!!! But seems I have too to put this review on..Totally disappointing as this was our annual Christmas holiday and we end up with this room that looks like it has not been refurbished since the 1960's. The lack lustre...

Finally I've found a hotel with character and class that is conveniently located and actually not expensive! Stayed here for one night before Christmas and would definitely go back. The building is an old school which they've retired into a charmed old-styled hotel. The room was spacious and clean however the bed could have been comfier (it seemed to be...

I recently stayed here for 8 nights. My first impressions were that it's very dated. Positives: lots of parking, easy self service laundry facilities, spacious rooms (I was in a garden room), perfectly adequate kitchenette. Negatives: Dark rooms (lots of wood paneling), could be cleaner, quite a distance to walk to the centre of Hobart

You can get get good deals online at this hotel and it is a nice base to explore Hobart and surrounds. It's not bad, staff are very friendly but the rooms are quite tired. We had noisy, inconsiderate neighbours above us so ask for a first floor room if you're not in the main building. Next time I'll stay in...

I just spent a night at the Rydges during my recent stay in Tasmania but I would say I had a very positive experience, I was given a family room (room nr 4) literally with two bedrooms and a kitchen included, I was alone hence I felt like in a big apartment, breakfast of good quality, did not dine cause...

The hotel has a almost medieval feel about it...in fact the staircase located after the reception is called the Harry Potter staircase! We stayed at the Manor suite. Large and comfortable for 4 adults. Parking is free and is located right in front of the hotel. Food and shopping is just a stone's throw away along Elizabeth Street. Walking takes...

I stayed in the main building and it was cosy and welcoming. Decked out with antique furniture with a nice little kitchenette, large bathroom and views down to the waterfront. The bathroom is a little tired, but it is an old hotel. I hope that any future renovations don't remove the charm this old hotel has. Breakfast/dinner a bit pricey...

This hotel is a national trust property which is what all guests must understand when staying. This means that "modern living" is not what you are in for. My partner and I stay in their heritage room for two people, we ended up on the top floor which meant a flight of stair up. (NO LIFTs). The rooms where huge,...

Stayed for two days whilst travelling around Tasmania. Room was very large but many of the fittings didn't work or very tatty. Decided to eat in the restaurant as the hotel is some distance from the city, big mistake. Steak was overdone, and my wife's salmon very dry. Overall, hotel is looking very tired and under-staffed.
