This was a great location for a short stay in Hobart if you are looking for something a little different from your standard modern hotel room. It is rich in history, it is elegant, it is boutique and makes you feel like you are staying in a manor from yesteryear. It is clean, staff friendly and the included continental breakfast although basic, was just what we wanted. If you want on-site parking ($20 per night), make sure you book ahead as it appears there is only limited space.
This location was very close to the CBD, waterfront and Salamanca markets, which were the only things we wanted to explore on foot in the area. We then did the drive up Mount Wellington which was also a short drive away from the hotel.
If you want a modern hotel room with modern luxuries then this probably isn’t for you. But if you are after a comfortable and elegant jump back in time for a short stay then you won’t be disappointed. This was good value for money.

The Macquarie Manor is quite a unique place to stay. The location is extremely central and whilst on a busy street, it was remarkably quiet at night. We were located in a basement room, which may not suit everyone, but it was spacious and we slept well. The building is a heritage listed with massive rooms that were converted to hotel rooms, some years ago, I think, so the fit out of the rooms seems a bit dated and jaded, however it was comfortable and affordable. The most charming aspect of this hotel and what distinguishes it from a more modern and standard hotel experience is the hospitality. Matt, who seemed to be in charge, undertaking reception duties to barista to cultural guide was so genuinely friendly, helpful and engaging with the guests. He remembered guests name and guests clearly liked chatting with him. So whilst the building has a eclectic and perhaps dated interior, the warmth and genuine hospitality of Matt superseded any minor inconveniences. If you are looking for a more personal experience in a grand old heritage building within a few minutes of the Salamanca area and an included breakfast to start the day with, this may well suit you.

Lovely historic building in great location central to all the attractions in hobart. We had a really spacious room with 2 bedrooms. The continental breakfast was fantastic and filling ( great for teens and hungry travellers) and accompanied by the very helpful and friendly staff giving us tips on the local area. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend for a city stay

I highly recommend this small boutique establishment. Staff are attentive, kind & unexpectedly giving. The smaller details which the corporate hotels don't do for their customers are abundantly clear at The Maquarie Hobart. The attentiveness to detail really matter and makes you and your stay feel fantastic.

Got in to Hobart tired from a long drive and were welcomed warmly by Holly who showed us to our room. The hotel is ideally located a late 19th century building that has been renovated but stayed true to its original style.
Located close to the CBD and just a 5 minute walk from the wharves and eateries.
The room was beautifully appointed with a very comfortable King bed and double glazed windows that kept the city and its noise on the other side of the glass.
Would Highly Recommend a stay here to anyone visiting Hobart.

Magnificent! Macquarie Manor is an impeccably maintained hotel in Hobart's CBD. Apart from the wonderfully attentive and good old-fashioned approach to hosting guests, this hotel offers ambience, graciousness, old-worldly style and high standards of hygiene. I was so glad that I stayed here because I felt that I was experiencing a little more of Tasmania's unique history by sleeping under the roof of this grand old building. Whilst this hotel many not offer the slick chicness of an expensive modern hotel, it offers something else that money cannot buy these days. It offers decency, a doorway into the past, and a high quality place to rest your head after a day of exploring Hobart. Finally, the all-inclusive breakfast is delightful ...

I booked this hotel for one night on either side of an Intrepid tour of Tassie. The location was handy and I was able to walk down to the Salamanca/dock areas in about 10 mins. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was great. You can get a barista coffee and the host, Matt, toasted me a croissant to take on my journey. Matt informed me of some activity options in the area, printed out a local map and highlighted things for me. He was very friendly and professional. I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

We loved this place, it didn't cost the Earth yet we felt so fancy.
Bummer we had to lug our luggage up the stairs but small trade off for staying in a beautiful heritage building.
The young girl working most days was so cutely helpful and we loved having the free continental breakfast.

This is a lovely heritage building, of which there are many in Hobart, providing comfortable accommodation in the CBD. It is run by a small and dedicated team who were all very friendly and helpful. Our rooms, we stayed either side of a tour, were spacious and well appointed. The continental buffet breakfast was a welcome start to the day. Thank you for providing an efficient left luggage service while we were away on our trip.

We picked this place to stay in advance of our trip without knowing much. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised, as the owner/operator opened the door for us. He also watched over the breakfast (complimentary) every morning for the 5 days we spent in Tasmania, and all of it in Hobart staying at the Macquarie.

It's well-located to restaurants that are not on the waterfront, but those are reachable in 10 minutes walk. Scallop pies are available in nearby bakeries!

Yes, it is a small operation. Reception is not open 24 hours. I think it best to call them before 4.00pm Hobart time.

Yes there are rooms with a queen bed and windows but the view is not scenic. I suspect this may be the case with other hotels in the area. All you will see are buildings and tarred roads.
