We usually love staying at Wrest Point when we are in Hobart. This time we stayed in a "tower" suite for 4 nights. For the whole period that we were there (including over a weekend) One of the two lifts was not working, meant you experienced long delays trying to get to and from your room. The bathroom door lock in the suite did not work together with the fact that it was installed the wrong way round - witht the locking mechanism on the outside of the bathroom door). When checking in we were told just to park anwhere ( there are construction works going on in the vicinity of the old check in foyer, and we were also not told that the mini bar would be empty nor the fact that there was no cutlery in the room at all (there was team and coffee making facilities - BUT without cutlery how do you stir the coffee / sugar - when querying that we were told that we had to "order them from room service"

My daughter and I stayed here during her dancing eisteddfod being held in the same venue. Without doubt, the best thing about our stay was the service. From the helpful and friendly porters to the warm and courteous house keeping staff, the customer service made up for other less impressive experiences..... The distance from our room to the venue, bistro and breakfast was ridulous, too far for breaky let alone finding an exit or smoking area!! The many doors to our Accomodation kept locking us out and the whole place is airless and chaotic with renovations making for a less than relaxing trip having to travese the venue from one end to the other to get to our accommodation. A later breakfast option would have made up for the distance from the buffet or better still provide all day breakfast to guests who have paid for it..... At least then you would get better bang for your buck when breaky is included in the rate, but its so damn far away, we missed it every time... The room was clean but we were cold. And with no fresh air very stuffy!!!

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback Rebeccah and hope your little lady had a great eisteddfod! Breakfast service completes at 10am and we have the cafe available for anytime after this - your suggestion has been passed onto the Food & Beverage Manager for consideration, thank you. Great to hear the staff were all accommodating - they will be very pleased to hear the feedback! Thanks again.

First the good stuff- it was friendly, buzzy, busy and clean. The less good: for a hotel that looks this epic, the reception area is hugely underwhelming. Squeezed into a corner and understaffed, they could have made a far better first impression. There was a dance Eisteddfod on and it was super busy but only one lift was working. There was a huge stain on the carpet outside our 4th floor room - it looked like someone had bled out. A new bit of carpet is clearly beyond what they are prepared to pay. The room was very dated. Bright green carpet, heavy red curtains and art on the walls that said nothing about Tasmania. It felt like it would have looked in the 70s when the hotel first opened. The food in the Boardwalk was pretty good- the carvery and gnocchi are winners. Unfortunately there was building work going on and the drilling began at 7am which is unacceptable. To sum up, the impression the hotel as you drive to it and walk along the carpeted bridge to the entrance overpromises what is actually a reasonably average and dated hotel experience. You now have the Grand Chancellor, Henry Jones, Mövenpick and the like to compete with, and its time to raise your game.

Thanks for your feedback 361chasb, the current renovations will certainly bring Wrest Point back from the 70s iconic era to a state of the art experience journey and into our 50th year of operating. As Australia's oldest boutique casino we proudly show our history through the décor of the complex, though our renovated rooms in the Tower will offer you all the luxuries and we would love to see you back to experience this. Thank you for choosing Wrest Point and welcome back soon. Thanks again.

I've stayed here a few times and have generally had a good experience, but I'm reviewing to warn everyone - beware Room 109. If you arrive and find you have been allocated this room, demand another one immediately! The problem is this ... You've booked a room in the Tower, with a view of the harbour/river Lovely! Trouble is, Room 109 is n the lowest floor, so the view is rather less impressive than higher up, AND instead of a delightful panoramic view of the Derwent River, what you actually fund yourself laking at is a very large concrete building. It's awful. And really disappointing. Apart from that ... The Room Service staff are really terrific, as are the staff of the Boardwalk Bistro. The Reception staff are a real mixed-bag. The place is 50 years old, so it is a bit tired, but there are lots of renovations under way, so ...

Stayed in the Tower as we were going to the Draculas Show on Saturday. Enjoyed the Show very much and had an Amazing Dinner at the Chinese Restaurant that night. We were Very very disappointed in the Cleanliness of our Room. Bathroom had runs down the Glass Screen and Mirror. Cleaners need to take More Care and Time as behind the Door and around the Skirting boards hasn’t been vacuumed in Weeks. Also a good Dust wouldn’t go astray. I took Pictures and was going to show them when we checked out but it was far too busy with so many people trying to Check Out .

Well this is a mixed bag. Let's start with the positive, I was on level one of the tower with a lovely view, the room is large and comfortable, the beds are good and the bathroom amenities are also nice. The housekeeping staff have been very helpful and receptive to a couple of requests I had. Now the negatives. On confirming my reservation I advised the hotel that I had an early flight in, and was hoping for early check. The staff member I spoke with was cordial, and initially advised that he couldn't guarantee it, which was fine, but after I made payment on the room he advised that I would be able to check in early at 11am. On arrival I was advised that my room wouldn't be available till 2. Overall I pretty easy going when someone says they'll do something I expect them to follow through, I then asked to speak to a supervisor 5 minutes later the staff member comes back and says that they can get me checked in. All's well that ends well, but it's much better if people get it right in the first place. The next issue I had was the temperature in the room, for those not familiar with Tasmanian winters it's cold, so having the heating working is pretty important. Unfortunately for me it didn't seem to matter what temp I set the heater to the room just wouldn't get above 19 degrees, most of the time I don't mind a room being a bit cool, but on my last night I was really feeling it. The staff particularly Chris at the reservation desk really tried her best to help and in the end they sent up a little blow heater which was helpful, but the whole ordeal wasn't great. The other issue I had was the room had a door which could open if you wanted to have interconnecting rooms, unfortunately that door on my second night was banging all night, which meant I didn't get a good night's sleep. Overall the facility definitely needs the renovation that is currently being undertaken, am I likely to stay here again, probably not

Thank you for touching base Geoff and sincere apologies for the room temperature - Tassie certainly has had a cold front this past week and I'm glad to hear that our staff were able to quickly source a portable heater for you. I appreciate the feedback in regards to checking in, its vital for our staff raining and you are right, confirmation just the once would certainly begin your experience a whole lot smoother - feedback has been passed onto our rooms division manager for review and staff communication. Thanks so much again!

On arrival to reception we were informed that a $200 deposit was required even though our room was fully paid for ! We were in the old section which is bleak to say the least and a 10 minute hike from the casino . When we got to our room we discovered a car park right outside our room . Poor information from check in staff . The room was comfortable but extremely tired and bleak . The toilet was stained and did not flush properly . The shower was of the 1960s vintage in a bath with a plunger to change from bath to shower . I am disabled and had to get my Husband to assist me over the 2 days . The only saving Grace from reception was a noise complaint of other guests talking loudly for 4 hours in the hallways was dealt with swiftly ! Also our room was the last one before the exit so the slamming of the door was constant over the 2 days was unbelievable! This is our second stay here and as you can tell by the tone of my review we WILL NOT stay here ever again nor will we recommend it to anyone .

We booked into Wrest Point during the Christmas/New Year period. The hotel is quite a distance from the centre of town, so if you're looking for something within walking distance this probably isn't the right choice. you can however use the public scooters (if this is an option you're comfortable with) and get to town in about 10-15 minutes. The hotel is going through renovations, however our room was not in the renovated section. Our part of the hotel was quite tired, so the renovation is certainly much needed. That being said, for what we needed the room was comfortable enough. Food when we ate onsite was nice, and the service was good.

Booked a ‘motor inn’ room in the older part of the hotel. Got to the room and was not what we paid for. When we went to ask about this, it was implied that the onus was with the customer to just know that any booking made for the motor inn or waters edge (where we were ‘upgraded’) would automatically mean a double bed and a single bed and not a queen or king as was advertised in the photos and description of the room that was shown to the staff. This has proven to be completely untrue as looking through the same booking website, both the motor inn and waters edge do have rooms available with larger beds. I’ve looked at the the listing again for later in the year just to confirm I wasn’t going crazy and the room we booked is in fact advertised as a single and a queen bed, just not mentioned in the confirmation email for some reason. The Supervisor we spoke to promised to look into it, to no avail and advised could not change our booking as they were booked out. No offer of any other compensation was made. I find it very hard to believe that not a single other booking was checking out on the Saturday so we could be moved to the room we paid for. In all a ‘perfect’ trip away from my young child for the first time. If I wanted to sleep in a single bed while my partner slept in a double next to me, I would have just stayed at home.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback Vavara it is always appreciated. I'm sincerely sorry to hear that you had such an experience with your reservation and for any information lacking in the booking. The feedback has also been distributed to the 3rd party platform. We advise all guests to book directly through our website, which ensures up to date information, including photos, as we have very little to no control for 3rd party accommodation sites such as Agoda. Should there have been availability for another room, we would have happily moved you to a king bed configuration, however during the school holidays we are at maximum capacity. I do hop you are able to return to Wrest Point on your next home-away-from home experience. Thanks again.
