Recently stayed 8 nights at the Tasman Hotel and this property certainly deserves all the accolades it has received. To start with our room…..it was spotlesss and also…..it was a very comfortable size with a very comfortable King Bed, Desk and sofa bed.
Only complaint is you had to download an app to pick up TV stations that I am used to back in the US. I chose not to because I really don’t watch too much TV.
Breakfast were deliteful downstairs in Pepina restaurant with an overwhelming amount of choices.
James the Chief Concierge was awesome. He gave us great recommendations such as a Bruny Island Adventure, a Boat ride to Tasman Island, MONA Museum as well as some great dining choices.
In all we loved staying here….it is a magnificent property in a perfect location with a friendly well trained staff. I hope to come back to Tasmania next year ……and when I do .i will be staying at the Tasman Hotel!

I spent 4 nights in Hobart and it felt like too few thanks to the phenomenal hospitality of the Tasman team! The staff was extremely attentive - even reaching out to me before I arrived to provide recommendations and ensure that I had a perfect stay. I almost felt like the concierge was a little *too* on top of it when he called me twice (and sent a follow up email) to let me know that he'd booked me a table for dinner at Peppina (the definitely worth it attached restaurant).

I booked a "Heritage" room and they put me on the top floor, and it felt like I was staying in a guest room in a palace with how high the ceilings were (the curtains opening automatically whenever I returned to the room was a nice touch too). The location is great - I was able to easily walk to restaurants, the Salamanca markets, and catch a ferry to MONA.

My only gripe is that the shower is not completely sealed off - so the warm air can quickly disappear once you're done indulging yourself with the rainfall showerhead. No worries - just wrapped myself up in the robe!

I stayed two nights at this hotel from Japan via Sydney.

Unfortunately, I was not able to check in early, but instead was upgraded to a large Heritage room. .

Amex Platinum holders should book through Amex as they offer USD100 vouchers, upgrades, late checkout, and other benefits for reservations made through Amex.

The hotel is a bit of a complex building.
I don't know about the newer towers, but the Heritage I stayed in has very high ceilings and is very spacious, but in exchange the windows are very small, so the rooms are dark and there is no view.

The concierge staff was very courteous and delivered the soap to my room when I told them I liked it and wanted to purchase some.

The linens in the room are perfect, the bed is perfect, and the bathroom is perfectly clean. Turn down service is available.
Slippers are available upon request.

Breakfast is varied and has a satisfying lineup for Japanese travelers. Eggs are prepared in a variety of styles.

I hope to stay there again soon.

We stayed at The Tasman for a VERY special occasion and we were not disappointed with our choice…. apart from being disappointed about having no time at all to experience the lovely looking Peppina (restaurant) and Mary and Mary (bar) because of other reservations. So a return trip in the future will definitely be in order!!!!!! It has a very ‘enveloping’ feel to the place that we’d love to experience again.

Prior to arriving we were impressed with the email interactions answering our various questions and, based on our stated requirements, we were also happy with their recommendation to change the room type that we initially booked. We were delighted with the panoramic water view king room in the Art Deco section which felt plush and decadent and was so beautifully appointed, especially the wooden inset feature in the ceiling. In saying that, the bath, one of the few in the hotel, we understand, and the real reason we changed rooms from the heritage room that was initially chosen, was small and poorly and very oddly placed in the beautifully decorated bathroom. A much larger bath would have fitted and we don’t like ‘wet room’ setups….but at least it was a bath I guess… and with a gorgeous ‘Beauty and the Bees’ milk and honey bath powder provided, as well as plentiful fluffy towels too. So small, but nice!!! Watch out for the windows; they aren’t voyeur proof ha ha!!

The hotel website stated that turn down service would be provided but we know sometimes that means it is on request. So, when we went out for dinner, we asked reception to confirm turn down for our room and it was met with a bit of a surprised reaction from that staff member, so we are not sure if turn down is normal or not!! It’s always good at check in if a hotel can advise the guest if that’s part of the service or not, or at least have a note on the bed etc. When turn down DID occur, only 75% of the used towels were replaced so that was a bit odd.

There’s some fantastic historic features that are really worth exploring in the hotel. Oddly, there is no compendium (that we could find?) with any pages that explain the history and renovation of the building, which has been just so beautifully done.

Valet isn’t ridiculously priced at $45 given the convenience of it but, as is so common these days, we think the credit card surcharge applied at such a pricey hotel IS a very sorry money grab. Why not just build it in the price?! It’s irritating for an otherwise wonderful hotel and wonderful stay.

Leaving that aside, we look forward to returning for another special occasion.

I checked in early for a 5-night stay. Was quickly greeted and welcomed by Concierge Rhiannon. It was then I knew this was a special place. No check-in counter........a knowledgeable concierge greeted me and answered my questions. My room on the 2nd floor of the Heritage Building featured a comfy king bed, rain forest shower, classy amenities, automatic window closures, and was very quiet. Breakfasts in the Peppina Room were sumptuous - including many Tasmanian specialties! While The Tasman is an historic property, its actually comprised of three structures, joined by floor to ceiling glass. it is perfectly situated within walking distance of Salamanca Market (next door!), The Tasmanian Museum, the port and the legislature. I want to esp. thank Rhiannon who took patient care of all my questions. I cannot thank her enough and I strongly recommend The Tasman for anyone's stay in Hobart.

This time we stayed in one of the new parts of the hotel overlooking the new Parliament square. The room was very large (double the size of the smaller rooms on the top floor of the old part of the hotel) beautifully fitted out when designer cabinets and large bathroom. The package we selected was the in-house dinner, breakfast and accommodation package. This will be the only package we will use going forward with the Tasman. My wife enjoyed the bottle of local Arras bubbly and chocolates that came with the package. 'Our new home away from home' in Hobart puts on a great chefs selection for dinner. We loved it that we can eat dinner early (5pm) and by the time we finished dinner 8.30pm the restaurant was buzzing! Breakfast at 10am (after such large dinner) is the earliest we were able to come out. In its own way this hybrid breakfast caters for all tastes and making time to enjoy this is feast is paramount. We'll be back!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at The Tasman twice in the past week. The first time we stayed was so great that we changed our plans to return for our last night in Tasmania. This hotel was exceptional from the moment we walked in the doors to when we left. The staff are extremely accomodating and friendly, making check in a smooth and enjoyable process. Valet was simple for the car and our bags were whisked away to our room quickly. The location of the hotel is fabulous - 3 minutes walk to Salamanca Place and 5 minutes to the Mona Ferry.

We stayed on both the Art Deco and Heritage sides of the hotel, and found that both offered unique and equally lovely experiences. The panoramic king room had incredible views over the water and was ultra luxurious. We appreciated the welcome chocolates and wine, along with the well stocked mini bar with lots of local Tasmanian products. All of the furnishings, linens and bedding were of excellent quality. We also stayed in a large Heritage King Room which was like a warm cocoon with its high ceilings, gas fireplace and moody lighting. I was originally worried about lack of natural light in the heritage rooms for doing makeup however the bathroom was very well lit.

During our stay we visited Peppina for breakfast and it is a lovely environment, offering a good variety of buffet options. We didn’t get to try it but high tea in the Deco Lounge looked very good too!

Overall staying at the Tasman exceeded our expectations and this is easily one of the best hotels we have visited in Australia (we also stayed at Saffire Freycinet on this trip, so this is high praise indeed). The hotel stands out for its unique architecture, decor and attention to detail. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again and hope to see more Luxury Collection Hotels in Australia in future.

The hotel is well located. It is very near to the pier and also to the city center. The hotel has beautiful design combining the heritage building with very modern feel.

The friendly front desk staff processed the check in very efficiently and explain all the hotel facilities in detail. The Heritage Suite I stayed in was excellent with separate living room and bedroom. The high ceiling add to make the room feel more spacious. The bathroom is stocked with many amenities and always refilled everyday by the housekeeping staff.

Breakfast served in this hotel offers quite a variety of choices and all are very good quality. But there is no rotation in the menu at all so after few days it could get boring.

The dinner at Peppina and light lunch I tried at the Deco Lounge are excellent with great food and service.

Overall it was a really pleasant hotel to stay in Hobart and I would definitely return in the future

My husband and I are from the United States and we travel extensively throughout the world. We rearrly find such a nice Hotel.

We found the Tasman Hotel extremely well run and lovely. The rooms were well appointed very crisp. We ordered room service food several times and it was prompt and delicious. We also ate at the restaurant, which we thought was too pricey at first but was such a delicious experience we did it several times .
The weather at times was not perfect and it was such a lovely place to come back to. A large bath tub with the bath products were also greatly appreciated.

It's hard to know where to start but this hotel blew my mind because this hotel is what I travel overseas for as Australia has lacked tjis type of accommodation and most of all service until now.
Beautifully restored building its kept in such simple style but surprisingly it still felt like a cosy cottage ( and the rooms are very spacious) , warm interiors, different textures with beautiful sandstone.
Location is so perfect that it's almost unbelievable, everything good about Hobart is within walking distance so no need to stress about anything.
Food offerings are plentiful and I did some research before my trip and I did read reviews of Peppina where low ratings were given because people could not understand the menu saying it has foreign words. I mean if you haven't figured out what mortadella is and if it seems foreign to you then please hop on a plane and explore the world. So much food on offer, tasty dinners delicious cocktails my only suggestion is to put bircher muesli up for breakfast because many people love it and it's a dish that not many people tend to make at home.
Lastly the staff. This is one major thing that sets this hotel apart from any other hotel in this country. While there we interacted with many staff members in many different departments and what struck all of us (a group of 4) is that they were friendly but completely professional. There was none of that awful thing where you'd hop on an airline and the FA would greet you "G'day mate" like they work at a local butcher's shop. There is a difference of actually interacting with public in a friendly professional manner and just taking your job as a trip to a pub.
This is one place where this hotel exceeds expectations especially since most of the staff are quite young. They're not awkward when interacting with guests, they are quiet knowledgeable about local area and most of all helpful.
So we'll done Tasman.

Yes, do rent a car if you want to visit things outside Hobart by yourself. Also, I would suggest you'll fly in and also fly out as this would give you some more time in Tasmania which has so many beautiful things to see! The ferry to Melbourne is 3.5h from Hobart...
