Nestled in the heart of Hobart, Mövenpick Hotel Hobart earns high marks for its prime location near the harbor and city attractions. Guests regularly commend the cleanliness and inviting atmosphere of the hotel, along with the comfortable and modern rooms.
While opinions on value for money are varied, with some guests mentioning high parking fees, the service is consistently recognized for its professionalism and warmth, including thoughtful gestures that make stays memorable. However, the hotel's room service and views have received mixed feedback.

Detailed Reviews
An almost new hotel. The rooms are pretty much all the same but you pay extra for the view in "DeLuxe" rooms. The services in the rooms themselves are somewhat high tech. You can really only enjoy all it has to offer if you have a "smart" phone. I stayed there 4 days and it was a magical mystery tour of the hotel's tech in some ways; i found another unsuspected feature every day. I can think of better things to do in my room than watch TV, but, as it turned out, most room services are managed via the TV so you have to turn it on to read room service menus for example. Any 13 yo would have it sorted in minutes. Lightning fast Internet 400Mb down, 250Mb up. The location is uber convenient being right at the city's main bus interchange. The hotel's best asset is, however, its staff. They are simply brilliant at their job. The General manager has done an outstanding job in recruiting great staff and I told him so.
Criticisms? Just a few. American and Swiss guests would love the sweetish breakfast menu items but the ubiquitous Australian cooked breakfast just isn't there. The ever eager staff will cook you anything you want that's not on the menu if they have the ingredients though; no worries. No tomato juice at breakfast though. Parking? Well there's none in the hotel itself though "valet" parking is easily arranged at a nearby parking station by the hotel at $30 a night. Retrieving your car for you to use from that facility takes 15-20 minutes though. There's 5 minute parking right outside the hotel while you check in/out but it is in the main city bus interchange. The hotel makes some unusual noises when it's very windy due to the interaction of the wind with the decorative cladding. No TasApp check in in the lobby or restaurant. The phone system had some hiccoughs but it is not an ordinary phone system.

Great, modern hotel. In the perfect location on Elizabeth st, easy walks to the piers, the information centre, shopping in the cbd, museums, Salamanca markets and Battery Point.
Easy check in with nice staff. Very nice twin room. Most beautiful view over the water and Tasman bridge.
Only some small annoying things in the room - no exhaust fan in the bathroom, curtains not long enough so never could achieve blackout in the room, phone frustratingly never worked, twin single beds were hard and uncomfortable.
We stayed for seven days and never once were able to see what the chocolate hour was like. Most times we were out, but the two times we were there at the right time, there was no chocolate in sight. Looked down on when we asked about it. Suggest this should be given as a nice, unique treat at reception on check in or in the room instead.
(Urgent) request for toilet paper in the morning was met by the staff with an annoyingly blasé we'll replace this with normal housekeeping in the afternoon. Either put more toilet rolls in the room so this is not an issue, or at least listen to guests with urgent requests!
Breakfast was certainly unique and we did like it. It's not your typical hotel buffet, you choose a breakfast main meal and then a side of fruit or toast plus tea/coffee/juice from the restaurant. Staying for a week, we were able to try every option on the menu and it was all delicious. Fruit side plate was awful - just melon and exactly the same all week. Toast was never great either. Should have variety of fruit abd breads to choose from. Should not charge extra for other sides too such as bacon/hash brown/egg, these should be included as a side to choose like the fruit/toast. Lovely staff in the restaurant, though they were often too busy and rushed. Not having to rush with open breakfast time until 4pm was great. Restaurant is a bit small so sometimes we had to wait.
Overall a good, modern, clean hotel in perfect location to see Hobart.

In early June my husband and I had five lovely nights in Hobart staying for the first time at the Movenpick Hotel in the CBD. We are annual visitors to Tassie and when in Hobart we usually stay around the Constitution Dock area in the hub of Salamanca, however, on this visit we decided to try this newer hotel.
The Movenpick Hotel didn’t disappoint from the moment we checked in to the time we checked out.
It’s in a great central location, the valet parking at the hotel was excellent with our rental car always ready for us to depart when requested. The high king deluxe room we requested on booking was spacious with a modern contemporary feel. The views from our room overlooked the harbour at a distance with plenty of natural light filtering into the room. The room was very clean. The housekeeping staff kept everything lovely for us each day. Our room was always cleaned each day at the time requested. This was delightful to return to each day after breakfast.
Hotel staff are friendly and happy to assist with any requests.
The restaurant is conveniently located within the lobby area, however we felt the food was average with some dishes arriving not hot when served which we pointed out to our waiter when he asked us how our meals were. We only utilised this dining facility once on the day of our arrival. In our opinion a more relaxed bar lounge sitting area for a quiet drink and a cosy open fire with comfortable seating instead of the existing couple of bar seats or dining tables and chairs would have provided a better atmosphere . We did try to book in for a meal on another evening after a busy day out in the cold and thought as in house guests we may have been looked after but unfortunately were told sorry fully booked can't fit you in at all which was disappointing as an in house guest.
After this stay we would definitely recommend this hotel to others and happy to return ourselves.

Friendly and welcoming staff from arrival to departure. Quite spacious and modern rooms. A great central location. Housekeeping could be better - on leaving the hotel before 9am (& placing the 'service room' sign on) and then returning around 3pm my room was just being serviced. Attention to detail on in room dining lacking (no condiments provided and missing an item of cutlery). I wouldn't recommend the breakfast in the hotel restaurant... the orange juice was concentrate and the scrambled eggs had clearly had milk added (given their lighter colour and the water content - see photo).

+1
Really impressed with our stay from start to finish. We stayed in a Deluxe King room up on the 15th floor overlooking the Derwent and Tasman bridge. Rooms are compact but well laid out, the bathroom was massive and there’s an empty bar fridge available in the room.
The staff at both the hotel reception and restaurant were fantastic and so friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect too, whilst not directly in the prettiest spot in the CBD, it’s only minutes walk to Salamanca, and a 10 minute walk to North Hobart.
The bed was firm but comfortable, although if you’re a light sleeper be aware a church bell seems to chime at all hours, although it wasn’t an issue for me. The bathroom is stocked with Yunj products and you can choose the standard shower head or a rainforest style one.
With Accor Silver membership, we were able to redeem our complimentary drink for a lovely glass of Tasmanian red wine in the restaurant.
Central location, well priced, friendly staff - it’s definitely somewhere I’d stay again.

The hotel location is excellent- easy, short walk to the waterfront and Salamanca area on one side and mall, shops and supermarket on the other. The interesting Sunday Farmgate market is also a short walk away.
My included daily breakfast was a la carte, substantial and generous, the breakfast hours also long, from 6.30am to 4pm. The wait staff at the restaurant were excellent- very friendly, warm and welcoming.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mr Patrick Pollicks. Reservations Sales Manager Ms Danni Males was also efficient and prompt in all our correspondence.
My room has floor to ceiling windows with spectacular view of the river, mountain, city and harbour. The room was clean, bedlinen fresh and bed and pillows comfortable. I also liked the hotel's toiletries. Everything in the room worked. Housekeepers were polite and friendly.
My early morning check out was very pleasant and fast with the smiling and friendly lady at front desk telling me that my booked taxi to the airport was already waiting outside.

After driving around Tasmania and staying at a number of different accommodation types, we were really looking forward to staying at a brand new “premium” hotel in the centre of Hobart. Boy, were we disappointed.
As a gold Accor ALL member, I was given drink vouchers and a single category room upgrade.
In a pre-stay email I had requested a room on a high floor with a river view. Our original room was only on the twelfth floor, but had the requested view. On opening the door to our "deluxe" room we were singularly unimpressed. It was very small and bore no resemblance whatsoever to the images on the Accor website. The photos of the deluxe room show a spacious area with large, full length windows, a table and chairs, a chaise lounge and a full bench at the end of the king size bed. Our room had barely enough room for the bed, a little, round table, a tiny, uncomfortable chair and a foot stool. If this is a deluxe room, I’d hate to see what the standard, classic room looks like. Although the room was a lot less than expected, after a three and a half hour drive, I just wanted to unpack and relax a while before going out to explore the city. We had just finished unpacking when we were shocked by the loud, incessant noise of wind howling outside the window. I immediately returned to reception to inform them. I was told that this was not the first time the problem had occurred. We were given another room on the same floor, but this time we had a view of rusty old roof tops, car parks and daggy old 70’s buildings, but at least it was quiet. The Movenpick website claims that the deluxe room features fresh fruit and a coffee maker and that the bathroom is fitted with a bathtub and magnifying mirror. Our first room had no bath and neither room included the other stated benefits.
We have experienced a few soft openings over the years and have always been willing to make allowances for any teething problems. The Movenpick opened in January, which means they have had a few months to iron out some of the issues, but this is obviously a serious design fault.
I realise that things can go wrong, even at the best of establishments, but it's how those issues are dealt with by management that is of utmost importance. We have never stayed at a Movenpick hotel before. If this is any indication of what is to be expected, it will most certainly be our last.

The new Hobart Movenpick hotel is a tastefully designed hotel with many excellent features but for us the basic room rate of around 300$ is steep for the entry level room. My partners comment it is like an upscale Ibis room. That meaning it is a small room designed well. As a new hotel the rooms have all of what you want, good bed, large tv, very good bathroom and if you on a high floor a good view of Hobart. With high occupancy the two person a lift rule meant on occasion a longish wait to get down.
Parking is a pain unless you are ok with an extra 30$ for valet parking. We did eventually discover the Davey St Car park is actually quite close. 18$ for the day, note you do need to get to the 11th floor of it to park. The lift takes you to exit which is only 100 m from the hotel entrance.
As an A+ platinum member we had hit and miss rewards. We have travelled to many Accor properties in the last month and they have been over flowing with extras and top service for platinum members. These were well explained to us on check in. Here this was not the case. No upgrade, nor mention of the complimentary breakfast. The chocolate plate delivered later was though delightful. We highly recommend breakfast in the on site restaurant. Ala Carte with many varied options. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The service is also spot on.
Overall recommended if you get a good deal.

We experienced four great nights in this hotel. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Special mentions to go Jane on reception, who was so welcoming, Pusbar at Tesoro Restaurant at breakfast and Seth and Luigi in the Tesoro Restaurant at dinner.
We were upgraded to a lovely room on level 14 with extensive views of Constitution Dock area and the bridge over the Derwent River. The room was spacious, comfortable, very modern and scrupulously clean. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. On the first day, a chocolate high tea was delivered to the room as a loyalty thank you for Accor diamond membership. It was beautifully presented and deliciously indulgent.
The a la carte breakfast menu was extensive. The portions were extremely generous and the food was exceptionally good. We enjoyed the corn fritters on two mornings. They were tasty, light and piping hot. The pancake stack came with a very generous helping of fresh berries and marscarpone. The service was excellent.
The dinner selection was also extremely good and the portions were again most generous. The wine list was extensive, but some choices were a little pricey.
The location of the hotel is very convenient as it is a very short walk from the waterfront, the shopping mall and hire car depots. There was ample comfortable seating in the lounge area in reception. The hotel also offered a small gymnasium.

+1
Lovely new hotel, in a great location only two blocks from the waterfront. First impressions were excellent with fresh flowers in reception and extremely friendly and professional reception staff.
Our room was on the 16th floor, compact (in the European style) but the high ceilings meant it didn’t feel cramped. We were very fortunate to have views over the Derwent River and city. Comfortable bed, effective black out curtains and firm pillows that made for a decent night’s sleep.
I also appreciated the large towels and good shower pressure.
Breakfast in Tesoro was a highlight. Firstly, it was available until 4.00 so there was no need to get up and it was easy to avoid the 9.00 rush. Secondly, the choices were really creative and varied. And thirdly the ingredients were of particularly high quality (my favourite was the artisan cheese and cold meats). Outside of breakfast, we also had the ‘Chocolate Experience’ on Saturday afternoon, which was delicious washed down with a hot chocolate ( because too much chocolate is never enough).
Staying over the weekend, it was easy to find on street parking overnight.
We used to live in Hobart and venture back every few years. The attention to detail at the Movenpick means we now have a new favourite place to stay.

Sorry, didn't have a car when staying in Hobart so I don't know. Contact the hotel directly as the staff are very helpful.
We had two queen beds so I can’t say.
They can only park your car as its around corner in a separate carpark. No discount for Accor members for parking. There is no parking anywhere else or on street.
There was no discount to Accor members - flat $30 fee for valet parking. The City of Hobart has a number of multi-storey car parks in the area (nearest one is in Argyle Street) - not certain what the overnight fee is. On the weekends you can park at the Treasury building car park (next to Franklin Park) for free - 2min walk to hotel.
$30 per night and worth every cent.👍😃
