Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Moss Hotel is well located in downtown Hobart, there are 2 buildings so check your booking to check that you can check into the correct one! The buildings are only a 5 minute walk between each other anyhow. The hotel has been recently renovated and is very well kept, no expense has been spared on the interior fittings, the room was well equipped with high end offerings (BOSE wireless speaker box was a nice touch). The bathroom had heated flooring which was a useful with the weather. High end Australian toiletries in the bathroom and a well stocked mini bar with a kettle and Nespresso type machine. Parking at the hotel is limited but can be reserved in advance, you also can park on the street near the hotel for free between 6pm and 8am, obviously check parking restrictions for the specific bay you choose.

Extremely comfortable bed with luxurious sheets and pillows. Slept so well in our little cosy nest! The room was very quiet and dark and I love the colour tones and style. The bathroom had beautiful toiletries. Great location for Salamanca markets and bars nearby. Highly recommend for a short stay if you want to treat yourself!

What a little gem in the heart of Salamanca place is this hotel. You couldn’t get a more perfect position. And oh my goodness the rooms are fabulously decorated to the highest standard. ( My room was like an upmarket ski chalet). The pillows and bed divinely comfortable, the shower superb and I loved the finishing touches such as a hand written welcoming note on my bed. They kindly minded my luggage before and after checkin and the thick early 18th century walls ensured a quiet environment. Enjoy a bit of original Hobart town in the historic boutique hotel.

I wanted to love this place. I booked months in advance because of the great location - and it was great ! The building and decor is beautiful. We had a pod room - and it was, for us, too small. With no air movement, except the air conditioning which wasn’t working correctly, but we didn’t know that till later in our stay. Atmospheric lightening when I just wanted to see, frosted glass between the sleeping area and the toilet - glass is no sound or visual barrier. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom products were lovely. We had a garden bed in the window recess with a light that stayed on all night - but with curtains that didn’t quiet block out the light. The staff we encountered were lovely and helpful. The electrics in our room shorted out in the middle of the night and we were shifted to a new much larger room. It’s was better, but even that had problems with noisy air conditioning that made the bed head vibrate- the problem was sorted by the staff member, but by then we were over it. Beautiful to look at but this hotel was more style over substance for us. We cancelled our last night. If you can afford the bigger rooms it might be ok and a pod room if your travelling alone.

This is such a gem of a hotel in a great location right on the Hobart waterfront. Our group of three couples all stayed in Pod Rooms at 25 Salamanca Place. We loved the cozy, subterranean vibe and the "view" out the windows of the living wall. A really unique experience! Not to mention a cleverly-designed room and stunning bathroom. I would absolutely stay here again.

We enjoyed our weekend in a very comfortable and attractive room in a perfect location. A real treat. The waterfall shower, big bath and premium toiletries felt special. It was lovely to look out over the market and the street life but also to be so insulated from any noise.

The Moss Hotel at Salamanca is a haven just metres away from busy Salamanca Place. A seemingly concealed entrance from the hotel takes u straight to the middle of the markets on a Saturday. The room is delightfully modern industrial with a nod to the buildings past. The elegant styling in the room is cosy and just the right place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The heated bathroom floor and the amazing throw rug on the bed just topped off the whole exercise. Check in with reception prior to your tri to arrange parking nearby (an additional cost). Reception staff were great. (Most likely not suited to families with kids I think, but check directly with the hotel)

This place is gorgeous. I loved the dark green theme, the lighting, and the live plants. It all added to the warmth of the place. There were two entrances to choose from. The back stairs that lead straight onto Salamanca were very handy. The staff were friendly and ready to accommodate any request you may have. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Very comfortable, stylish, close to restaurants/cafes/wharfs/shops/galleries and many sights at Salamanca, all amenities needed for a wonderful stay with friendly and very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend the loft room.
