Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I choosed this hostel for the price and the position that it is really confortable! In the beginning you can take the shuttle from the airports to Hobart and the hostel is in front of the shuttle's office so you have only wait the end of the route! The position of this hostel is 10 mn on Walk to the Hobart center! The staffs is really good and friendly! The rooms and the toilette are clean!!

Stayed here for a total of 3 nights in the 20 bed room. Good location, close to the city, and right across the airport shuttle. There's free Wi-Fi too that's accessible in the common area. Helpful staff at the reception. Otherwise, didn't spend much time in the hostel as Hobart has heaps to do and see!

Stayed in a 20bed mixed dorm for two nights over two different stays. Location: 10mins walk from Woolworths/main shopping centre. 20mins to the harbour and 30mins to the botanical gardens. No hostel airport shuttle available - airport to city bus/coach is $32 open return (w/o YHA card) and it meets every flight and drops you off literally on the hostel doorstep. Facilities: Bathrooms were nice and clean - hot water best early morning Beds are basic - my mattress and pillow were super thin but still I slept well. No air con in the room but it wasn't needed in my Autumn time stay as the open windows provided enough ventilation. There were no places to secure or store belongings in the room so be sure to keep your stuff organised. Lockers are available at [I believe] extra cost outside of the rooms for valuables. Kitchen: Free use of kitchen essentials so no hiring hassle Everyone seemed pretty good at tidying up after themselves. Plenty of Hob cooking space on big restaurant type stoves. Good amount of food storage though a little messy at times. Common areas consisted of a large sofa/tv area with plenty of free DVDs, widescreen TV (with good channels), share/swap bookcase and a few big tables and benches. There is also a little computer area and outside chill/smoking area. Free wifi that covers the whole building and decent speed considering amount of people using it - works best in the downstairs common room area Free tea and coffee all day Laundry area: 2 washing and drying machines for $4 each Powder from reception 50c Drying/washing lines to use in yard were nice as it helped cut costs. Note laundry room only open at certain times. Free parking outside hostel Sunday's only, metered parking rest of the week - no hostel parking available though they can show where free parking can be found a few streets away in a residential area. Staff: Greeted me warmly and are super friendly. Happy to let you know what's going on in Hobart, give advice and directions. They were all involved in giving the hostel a good clean on the day I arrived - the main common areas got a good seeing to and they were also making improvements to the place (painting, fixing skirting boards etc.). Atmosphere: Good relaxed, chilled, quiet place. I chose here for the price and got a decent bed and place to hang before and after my Tassie tour. I'd happily stay here again if short term backpacking through the area.

I just finished a stay at Transit Backpackers in Hobart. I was there for 8 nights. It's a backpackers. Its cheap. It's what you would expect. Kitchen is big. Dining and living areas are comfortable and spacious. Beds are comfortable. Staff are friendly. I loved the free coffee and WiFi.

They don't have enough things for the amount of people they keep in the hostel. Not enough charging points (8 points in a room with 20 beds..), not enough space in the kitchen, not enough fridges and shelves. The showers are honestly disgusting. The atmosphere is just really bad as well. Happy that I only stayed a few nights, because from all the hostels I've visited, this is by far the worst.

This hostel is poorly organised. On our second day they changed our beds without telling us because they thought we had checked out even though we paid in advance for two nights. Staff did not apologise and was found inconsiderate. There is no allocated bed number which may be the reason for this. Nevertheless this is fault of poor management and lack of care. I would not recommend this place.

Rooms are very small with no aircon or ventilation. This is absurd on a 6-bed small dorm. The backpacker was in general not very clean and toilets/bathroom were quite dirty and didn't get serviced enough. One of the 2 available toilets didn't have a lock and showers didn't have any storage shelf. Overall not recommended..

I booked four nights at $85 for an ensuite room. Originally just needed a private with shared bathroom but was booked out. The ensuite room is right by the road and main door, first night on a Thursday at 1am I could not sleep because of people be too loud in the common area. The so called 'duty managet' said she was going to tell people to pack it in. The noise did not stop to 3am, and from 12am to 6am every hour the front door was getting slammed shut just outside my room. I asked to change rooms and they showed me one more suitable, and when I said I would take it all of a,sudden it's book for two nights. I explained they could give the people the room I was in as staying four nights needed something where sleeping was easier. They let the people check in claiming the offered them the ensuite room, I have been totally ripped off and trying to find somewhere else to stay and get a refund for the remaining nights. The noise from the place is so loud you can here it 100 metres away outside. I walked around to three other places close by and there are people up and it's quite. Would not stay here again even for free, please read the reviews, only stayed here because everything else was booked during peak season.

Someone stole my bad and the receptionist instead of saying sorry treated me like a brat while sorting it out. The other members of the staff were nice but one cannot act that way with a customer. Apart from that the wifi does not work well and the space is insufficient for that amount of people. Toilets are dreadful. I am sure it is worth trying somewhere else.
