Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kevin is the best host EVER. So helpful and cooks a good breakfast just how you like it, with good coffee. When we arrived late he give us instructions to enter the property, my first impression wasn’t that great to be honest , with over grown bushes and dated hallways but on entering our room was big and spacious and clean. Had 3 great nights sleep bed is so comfortable and dreamy pillows. Bathroom a little dated but spacious and clean. Also a kitchen and dining area you can use which is great. Only a short walk into town so great location. Overall great stay for the price.

Bed was comfortable and Kevin (the host) cooked breakfast for my father and I every morning at the time we wanted to eat - Kevin was very friendly and accomodating to our needs Certainly a cheap stay and worth the money - A reasonable walk from the CBD which is good If you value extra cleanliness, look for another accomodation, as the bathroom can be a little dirty However, for the price he offers, I couldn't ask for more!!

Perfect location (walking distance to city) & free parking. Really comfortable bed. Kevin is a friendly easy going host. Wonderful personalised breakfast and barista coffee. Not fancy but delightfully homely accommodation.

This is the sort of house that is perfect if you are a sporting group or young group of friends looking for somewhere with 5 bedrooms and 6 king size beds. Unfortunately, this was not our group. We were there for my son's wedding looking for somewhere special. Kevin is the nicest person and will make breakfast for you every morning as long as you can tell him what time you will be up and ready to go. He makes it in a kitchen that connects onto the house and you simply walk into his kitchen for breakfast. We did not want breakfast so we were left with an empty kitchen with no sugar, milk or anything really. The house itself needs a really good scrub and is quite dirty all over. The biggest draw back is both he noise of the street (Being on a 5 lane road with buses and trucks that never stop) and the way Kevin has tried to renovate the house. A lot of it is questionable with exposed sewerage pipes in the lounge and front doorway. Nothing like sitting and listening to the sound of the toilet flushing downpipes when sitting in the lounge. The workmanship is questionable at best. Ensuites with no windows directly onto the bedroom and the list goes on. Please see photos. So for someone looking for somewhere period or really nice and also clean this is not for you. FOr a large group not looking too close at anything but just wanting a big space and breakfast, it is great.

A simple BnB that has amazing potential once the upgrades out the back are done. Quite simply the main reason I would return is the host - Kevin. An incredibly hospitable and kind person, makes an amazing coffee and you definitely will not start your day hungry. There are two shared bathrooms on the top floor with guest parking in the back and parking on the street and an easy 10 minute walk to the CBD Thank you for my wonderful time there, Kevin.

Read reviews about an amazing place with a wonderful breakfast. Did I take a wrong turn? This couldn’t be the same place surely. A heritage home treated with complete disrespect. I see a niche market here for dodgy home renovation tours, as I’ve never quite seen anything like it! I’ve attached photos to show the state of the room we stayed in. Plastering done by a 5 year old kid perhaps? Electrical hazards at every turn, and gaps to the outside world aplenty. The “cafe” was so filthy that I would’ve appreciated a hose down with disinfectant after visiting. Yes Kevin was friendly, but WTAF was he serving up? Dirt was everywhere, unashamedly on show for all to see, so what was lurking behind the scenes? I was so repelled by my surrounds, that by the time breakfast came out I was ready to run. Kevin tried to create a conversation decoy but the chipped teapot and greasy offerings already had my stomach churning. Run Forrest, RUN!!

We stayed in the “cottage” set in the old stable quarters of this beautiful turn of the century home. The cottage is a charming studio unit with vaulted ceilings and polished timber floorboards. It is large and spacious and amply equipped with a large fridge, cooking stove, microwave and an attached ensuite. The house is located on one of the busiest roads leading into the CBD but we barely heard the traffic as the cottage was at the back of the house. I understand the rooms in the main house have double glazing to address that issue. There is much to recommend in this place. Ample parking at the back if you have a car tho a tad tricky to manoeuvre a vehicle given the need to turn off a very busy road. The accommodation is exceptionally clean and run by a very affable and engaging Kevin. Kevin serves generous portions of breakfast (bacon and eggs) and copious quantities of coffee from a commercial coffee machine located in the kitchen dining area at the back of the house overlooking a courtyard. We are planning to visit Hobart again next year and Lowenas will be our first choice of accommodation. For its cleanliness, convenience and relaxed ambience at a modest price tag - Highly recommended!

We had a nice room, despite the fact that the bathroom was unfinished and the sink was blocked. There was another sink nearby. The breakfast was really excellent with good coffee and eggs, bacon, toast etc; whatever you asked for. Juice would have been good but it was never offered. The location was good but not really central. A 10-minute walk was OK into town, but a bit harder coming back uphill.

Kevin who runs this place is a very nice friendly man. However I don’t believe he can see the dirty filthy chaos that surrounds him. The back of the site is a half built extension to the place. It looks very dangerous and I’m concerned an accident will happen either on the building site or as a result of one of his diy projects. The bathroom in our room was absolutely filthy. He cooked us a breakfast but I dread to think how filthy the kitchen was where he cooked it. The bed in our room seemed to be held together by a very crude frame he’d fixed onto the back.

My husband and I stayed for three nights at Kevin's Lowena Bed and Breakfast. The location was perfect with an easy 10 minute stroll into town. Kevin was a wonderful host and his morning coffee and cooked breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable and spacious and would definitely recommend staying here.
