The Cliff House is absolutely stunning - one of our favourite places on earth. Snellings Beach is heavenly and the dolphins come through the bay almost every day. Dining under the enchanted fig tree a few minutes walk away is also totally magical.

We stayed in the Sky House and loved it. Such a special place, with a view to do die for and a beach which we virtually had to ourselves. Eating outside on the terrace every night with only the kangaroos for company was a real delight. The house is very well equipped and my only tip is you need to be a bit organised about the shopping.

Location, location, location… this place had it! We stayed in the Beach Retreat, about 80m walk from Snellings Beach. The perfect little couples get away. The place was superb. We had 4 nights and spend nearly it all there and only venturing out one day, why would you leave such a tranquil spot. The accommodation was comfortable, relaxed and had full kitchen amenities. Great sun room, outdoor BBQ area and views of the beach. We had everything we wanted and didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend and would love to return one day.

Stayed for two nights at Sky House in February to celebrate a couple of milestone events for my husband. We attended Gastronomo in the Enchanted Fig Tree which was memorable for the food and the theatre of the location.

At Sky House the view is certainly spectacular from the bedroom, living room and outside area - you look down to Snelling Beach which entrances. Unfortunately the outside area off the living room was looking a bit tired - broken pavers, peeling red paint on the wind sills, new cushions needed on the sun lounges and the satellite dish was loose on the roof which clanged all through the second night when the wind picked up. The window in the bathroom was stuck open which was ok as the weather was warm on the first night but when the wind picked up we certainly noticed it.

Also on the 2nd night I was really annoyed as I was wanting to use the barbecue for cooking our dinner but was horrified to find it was filthy and that the gas bottle had no gas. I made a call to the on site manager who did come and swop it over with his own clean barbecue and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine but at the price we paid this should not have been an issue.

When checking out we noticed a pickup truck waiting to come in and my husband had a chat with the driver who said he was there to fix up the house as there were some maintenance issues and it was a good time as no guests for next two nights. That says it all really.

On a positive the Moroccan theme works well as the sunrise bounces off the walls, the inside decor is nice, comfortable couches and the bed extremely comfortable. I liked the bathroom amenities and purchased some at the shops in Kingscote.

I did send an email to the owner back on 6th March but had no reply. The travel industry needs all the help it can get so I wasn't going to write this review as its not entirely complimentary but as I never heard back I have decided to post now that its May. I think that travel in Australia is not cheap and when places are charging top dollar they need to remember that they need to deliver a better than average experience.

I absolutely love Kangaroo Island it is so nice to see regeneration of the flora and we saw a plethora of kangaroos plus quite a number of koalas. Have booked a week at Christmas time but elsewhere on the Island.

Set high on a hill and isolated from the world, this beautiful well-appointed villa ticked all the boxes. It is modern and has spectacular views. The location might not suit all people. Also, while normally you can get gourmet food delivered, this was not so when we were there. Things are still getting back to normal post covid. Life Time Retreats have several villas available and they are all different.

We have just begun a 3 night stay in Sky House and absolutely love it here. What an absolutely stunning location, even better than the photos. High spec bathroom, comfortable outdoor and indoor living space and the record collection and player is an added bonus.

We stayed here at the Beach Retreat to start our Australian adventure. The place was perfect for just two of us. Close walk down to the beach, great directions from the staff, and easy instructions to get inside. We had to switch out the propane to get the girll to work, but it was no problem. The wifi didn't work while we were there, but it was okay as it was a welcome break. We stopped in Kingscote on the way and got some groceries for the 3 nights we were there. Highly recommend

We originally booked to stay in the Sky House for two nights. At about 8pm on our first night, my partner came rushing in with a pair of tongs chasing after a MOUSE! Being petrified of mice, I scrambled onto the bed, stiff with fear. There were two rodents running around the sky house, running over our luggage, just everywhere. Frantic with fear, I emailed the property manager who subsequently called. My partner was building a makeshift barrier to prevent the mice from coming into the bedroom and he also set up mouse traps that we found in the house, so they obviously knew rodents was an issue and didn't bother telling us. The property manager was apologetic and offered to 'upgrade' us to the Cliff House. So we had to relocate to the Cliff House, pack up all of our stuff, and drive down the hill in the dark, not to mention how cold it was. As they were not expecting this scenario, the Cliff House was not cleaned properly and it was definitely noticed. The bed sheets did not feel clean, it felt like the managers raced up here after the call and quickly made the bed and placed some clean towels in the bathroom. That was it. The toilets were dirty and stained, the tap of the bath was broken, there was dust and bugs on the horizontal surfaces, there was a used towel that was left on the floor in one of the bedrooms. The kitchen was greasy. Leftover fruit from the previous holiday makers was still in the fruit bowl. For such an expensive and so-called luxurious holiday accommodation, we were left flabberghasted. The only thing this place has going for it, is the magical views that I cannot fault and the easy access to Snellings Beach. But the accommodation, which was probably once absolutely enchanting really needs some love and care injected into it. All of the equipment in the house is of poor quality. I would not recommend staying at this house. It certainly isn't worth the money and the attention to detail leaves a lot to be desired. One last thing, the free WIFI is extremely unreliable. Unless the owners of this property inject some love and money into this place, stay somewhere else.

HI, Thanks for your feedback and comments, and yes what you experienced was unacceptable so we have done just what you said - injected some love and care back into the cliff house! In regards to the mice. All our houses are mouse proof but in some instances prior guests leave doors and windows open so they do get in (hence the traps as back up) Obviously when we upgraded you to the cliff house, we were in a rush to accommodate you so some details (in making sure the house was ready) were missed in the time we had. I can however assure you all our linen etc is washed by a commercial laundry in town for each new stay. We have looked through our linen and are now in the process of buying new stock as some items were admittedly getting tatty and old. Since your stay we have got the family out and washed the walls, worked on the garden, painted and spring cleaned the place - the love is back! Thanks again for taking the time to write to us. Nick

What a magical place. This stunning property is in a perfect location , on the side of the hill overlooking a spectacular empty beach and the sea! We arrived after a bit of a journey from Melbourne , but driving instructions were spot on.the house is great , lovely terrace with sun loungers overlooking the sea. Jacuzzi and BBQ very appreciated. Perry the manager is very helpful with advise and direction if needed.i only wish we were staying longer!

the stonehouse was a great base to do our trips to explore the west end of the island from. BUT
initially we were disappointed because the web site is misleading as to the location of the stonehouse, we thought it would be right near the beach, while it is relatively close, the nth coast road goes between the house and the beach. the view is only half a bay the rest is obscured by trees. we did enjoy our stay but compared to the other 2 places we stayed at while on KI we thought it was way overpriced. also internet was down and even though the compensatory bottle of wine was a nice gesture a discount would have been prefferable. even though it was the most distance from civilization it was the busiest place we stayed at re traffic and people with their boats on the beach etc, obviously a popular spot. also breakfast provisions while nice likewise way overpriced.
the bathrooms should at least have doors on them, a curtain just doesnt cut it , the other bedrooms ensuites didn't even have a curtain, would be a nightmare if a few couples were staying together re bodily functions privacy and odour containment. the other thing you don't see on the website is the monstrosity of a huge holiday house right next door - if there was a family staying there privacy would be zero not to mention noise. any thought of a quiet stay in the wilderness of kangaroo island then snellings beach is not the place to go.

Thanks for your feedback and comments and apologies for the delays in responding to this message. In regards to the location it is not our intention at all to be misleading, however we will go back and look at our wording. Since your stay we have done some quite major refurbishments to bring it up to the standards you would expect. Even a little pruning of the trees!
