It's as good as all the great reviews suggest. The location and scenery are very special. On arrival you're seated with a glass of wine and given an overview - so different from typical check-in. The staff are all wonderfully friendly. Rooms appear to be similar - just beautiful. Large living area, and spectacular bathroom with tub views over the...

What a great place to stay on Kangaroo Island! Loved the views, rooms, atmosphere and open bar in the lobby!! Food was also very good although the choices for dinner were a little limited (a bit of an issue if you stay there more than a couple of days). We stayed four nights -- great visit, but perhaps a day...

Set on the magnificent Hanson Bay this iconic lodge offers an oasis in the wilderness. It has been built in perfect harmony inside and out with the environment from local materials. The staff are eager to help. They provide three informative guided tours on the island- a cliff top walk and a bus ride to Hanlon Bay Sanctuary, Admirals Arch,...

This place is pure luxury, yet a relaxed atmosphere (no dinner jacket needed for a scrumptious meal). Due to the all inclusive policy, one feels great to just have a look at the wine cellar and grab the wine one likes for dinner. It is also very personal as they only have 23 rooms and can attend to each individuals...

I have stayed in five star lodge style accommodation previously, but until now,I have never experienced such meanness accompanied with a total lack of generosity on a level that exists at Southern Ocean Lodge. I, found it insulting and think that the establishment should be very embarrassed at the very least.,with cutting corners at every opportunity, anything to save a...

Southern Ocean Lodge is one of the most fully-inclusive properties in Australia - if not the world - presenting guests with all dining, a premium open bar including a choice of more than 120 wines (which sets us apart from most of our contemporaries), daily replenished room bar, signature guided island experiences and return airport transfers. The only additional spend...

When you are welcomed into Southern Ocean Lodge, there is a real sense of occasion. You know you are in for something special! We spent two nights and it wasn't quite long enough- but the staff went out of their way to ensure that we did as much as we could! The open bar and cellar are an absolute treat....

Deserves a better rating than average, but at $2500 a night for 2 I have big expectations! No doubt the location and vista is world class, but at what price? First dinner was sensational, the king George whiting, until we asked for a cheese platter at 9.12pm, (we only arrived at 7.45pm) to be told the kitchen was closed, got...

Thanks to JOHN the Manager who picked us up and drove an hour in the dark to the lodge, dodging animals of all sorts. You have to go to the amazing rock tour...very great photos can be taken there. Wish they did room service. Open bar and wine cellar are my favourite parts as well as our room #19. If...

Despite all it's good points I was food poisoned by the freshwater crayfish on my first full day. I spent that night (from 3am) vomiting and all of the next day and night in bed. I ate the most expensive piece of toast in my life on that day (as this was the only thing I could stomach) Such a...

Dear John, Naturally we are very sorry that you were unwell during your stay. However, the claim of food poisoning is serious and we wish to address it immediately; we’re able to confirm there were no reports of illness from other guests in-house at the time, who all enjoyed the same fresh, locally sourced produce as yourselves. We certainly tried...
